Not really. My Maltese is a submissive dog breed. She's more laid back and quiet. |

I am always jealous when i read about her on yorkietalk. I also remember you sad that she is your girl , and the boy loves your husband more. I think my also prefer my hubby :( i am not sure...he just love everyone. The problem is...how to know it? I love the yorkies look the most.... But i am afraid it will happened again with next puppy. Personality are so important for me. |
My parents had a dachshund that fit all three traits you described. She was definitely a lap dog (or was she just lazy?) She liked to cuddle. She HATED strangers. So much so that she couldn't be in the same room with them. We don't know if she ever would have bitten anyone or not, but we never let her get close enough to try. She liked our family, and a couple of my brothers friends, but that was it. She also was very protective. But I know not all doxies are like that either. My best friend has a chi that is the same way. Very affectionate with her & has been around me MANY times & still won't let me pick her up...will barely let me pet her. And is also protective. Unfortunately, I don't think you'd be able to tell at a young age. |

I heard many good things about dachshund. But i just can't stand they look. Maybe i just need to find a puppy at the age of 4-5 month, so i will see the personality. But no one sells them in that age. :( |
Is there a special reason you want another small dog? If you can have a larger dog, I'd recommend an English bulldog. They're heavy but short. My Lily is SO loyal and loving toward me but suspicious of strangers. LOL, and the face is a definite benefit -- when salesman or whoever come to the door, I open it just enough for her to stick her face out and they back off really fast! She and my Yorkie get along really well, even though the Yorkie has FAR more energy and wants to play a lot. Lily plays with him but lets out a warning WOOF! when she just wants to relax. I really love my bulldog and the Yorkie-bully combo is super cool! Warning, though -- if you have a bulldog, you don't get very far on walks or at Petco. People go crazy over them and always stop you to engage in conversation and look at them. Lily doesn't really like strangers touching her; she won't bite but she will move away and give strangers "the look." LOL. They're real characters! Julie |

And still he prefer my husband. When we both come back, he tun to me most, but when we are at home, he is near him 70% of the time. |
londonteatime My hubby let me have only small dog :) It took me so long to convince him...no chance he will let me. mm..and i can't imagine that bulldog lick my face :-))) Maybe i just don't used to.. |
By the way, i heard many times that the most loyal dog ever is sky-terrier. But they are very hard to find (not popular at all). |
I think I'm confused! So you want a dog that DOESN'T like strangers? If so...why? Maybe you should try a female yorkie. my little Sadie Mae is such a cuddle bug...she is ALWAYS on my lap...if I sit....anywhere she will either jump up on me or just sit a look at me until I pick her up..In the matter of fact...she is sitting on my lap right now!! She is such a good dog...she loves EVERYBODY!! She will sit on hubby but not for long...she is mostly with me. |

I always wanted a female yorkie, much more than a male. 1) i think females yorkies looks more pretty 2) to breed 3) no marking problems. But, i read tons of threads here on yorkietalk about male or female, and many sad that males are much more cuddle than males. And that females almost always chose a male owner. This is why i took a male...and maybe i just did a mistake :( But than again...it's just impossible to know it. |

I have a female who loves my hubby soooo much, maybe more than she does me but she loves me too I know but she dont get to be with him as much and I think that is why she seems to love him better. but every chihuahua i\'ve ever seen or been around never seem to shut up that little shrill barking. My mother in law and my sister in law both had one and they barked all the time. It was so nerve wrecking but I can say he was very protective of my mother in law for 17 years. my sister in law got rid of hers before she kept it too long, the barking drove her bonkers. |
