What did you do with your pup the first day they came home ?
 
I'm curious to know what you did with your yorkie the first day they moved in? And how did you help them adjust to their new homes.


I have 3 more days until I get my little girl and I just wanted some tips.

Tigger slept, and played. then it was time for nutrical. Basically we couldnt keep our hands off him. for the most part... I recommend cuddling, trying to feed him and letting her do her own thing. Best of Luck. we too are getting another.

My first one I was totally unpreared. I bought everything I needed after I got him. The second one i was prepared. Make sure you have everything you need before you pick up the pup it makes things easier. The only thing I had with Chachi was a travel crate and food.

I've spent about 500.00 on food, bed, wee wee pads, toys, ect. All that I have to get are food bowls and shampoo. When I get her next week she'll be 9 to 9 1/2 weeks when should I give her a bath? I held off on buying shampoo & stuff because I wasn't sure if she would be too young for a bath when I get her. I also made a vet appointment for the same day I get her


I guess I'm nervous about getting her from the airport I refuse to take her out in Newark airport it's not the cleanest place and it would be my luck she would pick something up just walking to the car. I have a car seat for her so I was thinking about driving her home and then letting her relieve herself (I live about 15-20 minutes away from the airport), but I was told not to bring her outside until she gets all of her shots so walking her in the grass is out of the question. I plan on using wee wee pads anyway so taking her outside to relieve herself is not a big deal

I cried like the first 30 minutes. (laughs) I was just so excited! I like played with Zoey until she fell asleep next to my leg. (laughs)

We were the same way. Bailey's first day with us was a short one. We didn't get her until about 4pm and then had about an hour's drive home. They we stopped at PetSmart and got everything we thought we needed - crate, food & water bowls, harness, leash, brush & comb, etc. Until that stop, we had absolutely nothing for her. I think that stop was probably a good thing, though. Obviously, Bailey was with us. It was the beginning of her socialization process. At least a dozen people cooed and gushed and made all kinds of a fuss over her, and she just soaked it up.

After we got home, I'm afraid the poor baby had hardly any time to stand on her own feet the rest of that day. Somebody was holding her almost all of the time.

LOL newark isn't THAT bad. I'd let her pee someone outside the airport if you can find some grass. ANd you can let her pee outside in your yard as well, as long as she's had at least one of her vaccines. just don't take her to the park just yet and let her go there, because she's more likely to pick up something where lots of other dogs have been.

How old is your pup? Jewels was 8 weeks old and I gave her a bath right away I would give it a couple of days let the pup get used to the new surroundings then you are okay to give a bath

Why not bring a pee pad to the airport and letting her go on that? I'm thinking that after a plane ride your new baby might have to go. Riding home having to go potty might not be too comfortable for her. Just a thought..Good Luck and Congrats to you and your new furbaby.

Oh I just read your post and 9 weeks is plenty old enough for a bath. Warm up a towel in the dryer.

I guess I better add shampoo and conditioner to my list of things to get too, that will be a fun first time experience (I'll have the camera ready for that one).
