Parker is at new home, has runny poo and wont eat very well I was wondering, is it normal for doggies to have runny and not eat very well after they go to a new home. I got an email from Tashia today and Parker has runny poo and didnt eat every well. This is not like him. He will eat all his food in less than a minutes. He inhales it. Just wondering if it could be from the move. He did have runny poo 3 days last week but it went back to normal??? |
Its probably from the move. I would tell her to give him some pumpkin, feed him chicken and rice and take him to the vet if it keeps up. She probably will want to take him to the vet right away for a check up anyway. |
I agree with what was said above. He is probably stressed and adjusting. He just needs some time to settle in and I'm sure he will be just fine. |
If it continues for the next couple of days, I would tell her to take in a sample to the vet and have it checked for cocidia. Tia had the runs after we picked her up although she was fine at the breeders, the stress of the move brought it on. |
Will do! :) |
I would think that the change has his system a little out of sorts. He is young sohe should adjust quickly. Good thoughts that Parker settles in quickly to his new home. |
Hubby said Parker's poo was a little more solid, and when I fed him dinner he ate.... so I guess he's getting better... I'm gonna see how he's doing tomorrow too... but think I might be making a vet appt. anyway... Parker's breathe is totally rank.... any suggestions on his breathe???? I brushed his and Cash's teeth this evening.. but yeah.. his breathe is bad, any suggestions as I said LOL |
runny pooh is most likely stress, bad breathe is most likely dental problems, since he is still a teenage have the vet check for over crowding or retained teeth. Either way I would take him into the vet for a well check on everything because youre exposing your other furkid. |
I think the runny stool has to do with stress from the move, and he may still have some baby teeth that is why his breath stinks. Good luck and keep us posted;) |
HI there. I am going to say the move is probably a good bet! When I first brought my little guy home he didn't sleep, had runs and then got stopped up, and was throwing up over night. I think he was so stressed out he didn't know what to do. But, I got great advice from YT members, did the chicken and rice and pumpkin and lots of hugs and kisses and within 24 hours he was just about perfect! I couldn't thank everyone here enough for the helpful advice. |
Probably just the move, but stress can activate giardia. I've been told that all dogs "have giardia" but it is in a resting state, but can become active due to stress. I would also feed chicken and rice to see if that cures the problem. Bad breath is usually a sign of dental problems. |

I'm going to call my vet tomorrow.. I boiled rice, but didn't have chicken... he won't touch the rice... maybe I need the chicken.. his poop has like little "grains" seeds lookin stuff, his food looks like it has that in it... i don't see any rice lookin things or anything of the sort.. I hope to gosh it's just the move.... |
I agree its the move. Glad to hear he is doing better as he adjusts. The breath has got to be his baby teeth. |
Hi,I read about feeding pumpkin? How does it help.I have never heard of that before. Also,I am not familiar with giardia, can you tell me what it is and what to look for ? Thanks so much |

Oh I am sure all this is about stress . . and the vet will most certainly confirm it is. Please keep us posted. |

It does sound like stress. Any time our other terrier experienced stress, the first thing it affected was her bowels! The vet suggested pepto bismol tablets so we kept them on hand just in case (she was 20 lbs and we used to give her 1/4 of a tablet..sometimes 1/2), but I'd check with your vet first as yorkies are much smaller. It sounds like it's probably clearing up though. |
I would say it has to be the move. Parker was just fine here. He's never had the bad breath thing either. I'm really sorry you are going through this. I dont really understand why all this is happening? I'm really worried about him. I'm sure he is not sick. He never had anykind of signs here and my other yorkie is just fine too. Let me know and please keep me informed. |
he still has diarrhea, maybe he licked his bum after he pooed and that's why his breath stinks? I had to wash his butt because there was poop in his tail.. I didn't even think about his beard.. so he's getting a bath in the morning!!! he's been hacking a little.. nothing is coming up.. I haven't given him any water since 8 to help with the potty training... he did get to lick on an ice cube though. he's cute.. when I get up to walk anywhere, he's right behind me! he's such a sweetheart!... I hope this goes away, for all of our sakes!! |
Parker does drink out of my fountain that I have outside. I try not to let him but sometimes he does. Could that cause any problems??? I know birds get in it sometimes???? When you say he is hacking a little what do you mean, like he is going to get sick?? How is he acting. Is he playful at all, and Yes, he will follow you around like crazy. Parker was a moma's boy. If you want to take him to the vet, I'd be more than happy to pay 1/2 the cost. |

I get up.. come parker, let's go potty.. and there he is LOL Oh, the potty training is going pretty well.. he's had a couple accidents, but he's doing good.. I take em both out at the same time.. say Cash.. Parker.. Potty... and they find a spot.and go... |
Parker's vet appt is thursday at 2:15! They suggested maybe I give him a little to eat in the morning and fast him the rest of the day, he said it's possibly nerves, but they'll want a fecal to rule it out.... |
I hope he feels better please keep us posted. |
we're taking in a fecal sample next time he poos, so we don't have to wait till thursday to find out.. so if he does have worms, we can start treating it right away, but the appt thursday will still stick so we can get other things done. :) |
Keep me informed. Thanks! |
Got a call a few minutes ago. Parkers poo is getting better. She took in a sample and no worms etc. They said its just from the move. |
So happy to know it's not any thing real serious. Parker...hope you're feeling better and can show your new mommy what a good boy your are when it comes to going potty. Best Wishes!!! |
