Lots of hugs for you and prayers for Cookie. |
Genie, you & your family are in my prayers, We had to go through this about 2 years ago with my boy yorkie Tucker, he had a liver shunt..Hang in there girl...sounds like you are on top of it..Send Cookie a big Hug & kiss for me...I will be praying for him everyday, its a hard road with liver problems, but alot of yorkies do great on diet and meds..and I know he will too.... :kiss3: Please let us know how he is doing...:) |
OMG I am an emotional wreck right about now. First I read dpixel8's thread and now this. Sending you big hugs from me and Gus. I have an idea of what your going through. I'll be praying for your little one! |
Well today I made him the ultra low protein food. It's sooo blah! lol But he gobbled almost the entire bowl only leaving about 1/2 tsp. I put about 4 TBSP of food since that is the most he eats. Sometimes he only eats 4 TBSP for a whole day :( I still change his food twice a day to keep it fresh and I let him graze through the whole day. He is usually a very, very slow eater and taking food away and hoping he gets hungry later on has never worked for him. Today he ate the two bowls! He also had his nutritional supplements for his liver. I was going to order it online that has it for 50% savings but the catch is you have to buy a 6 month supply. I could not make him wait so I bought it from the Emergency Hospital today. So as far as today is concerned he ate very ,very well. He also gets Honey Nut cheerios for snack during the day . The one good thing he can have since he does not have diabetes! I have a good feeling that these supplements will lower his high liver enzymes. They are designed to flush out build up of toxins and so does the Lactulose drops. Once his level gets within normal range I can reduce his one a day pill to 1/2 a pill or less but the supplement can be given indefinately just to help the liver function as it should. I feel like I can breathe a little better now. He's acting like nothing ever happened and is probably wondering why everyone is smothering him with so much affection lol. Lola has been doing a great job as little sister and has been nonstop playing with him every chance she gets :) She's already bigger than him and thinks she can boss him around but Cookie let's her know that he's the boss even though he's a dwarf in front of her! My heart just sank reading your story. I don't know what we would do either if we lost out little ones. I was crying just knowing what you must be experiencing. Before we got our little ones, I was not that emotional, now just reading these sites of tragedy, I tear up. |
I was the same way.I thought I was pretty tough until I got Cookie. Now I cry during commercials lol. Cookie is doing very good now. Hopefully with the "ultra low protein" diet and 2 supplements to keep his liver functioning as it should , should lower his levels soon. Genie |
How scary, i hope your baby is better ! |
Genie, Know that I will be thinking of you and little Cookie. Hugs to you both from Rio, Mignon and me. |
Genie- I hope Cookie continues to do very well on his new diet. It is good he is eating so well. Perhaps this is just the ticket for him. We'll keep you in our thoughts. |
