I have to find Parker a home, hubby cant take it anymore oH MY GOSH.... I'm so sad and crying my hubby just called me from work. I hadnt heard from him all day and usually he calls me 2 - 3 times a day. He said when he let Parker out today, He came back in and jumped on hubbys lap and peed on him.... and if you have read my previous thread about Parker you will understand how bad its been. My hubby said he didnt call me yet cause he was soooo mad and trying to calm down. He said he feels really bad and hated to tell me, but I must find Parker a new home that he has had enough. He said he know how much I love him and that this is going to be really hard. but he cant take it anymore. and it just puts him in a bad mood. Parker is such a sweety too. He love to cuddle and had a great personality... What am I going to do. He said I could wait til Lauryn My daughter gets home from Maine on the 9th before I do it, but I must do it. How am I going to live without this little guy. How will I find him a home who loves him just as much as I do and who will spoil him the way I do??? Who will give him a good home knowing he has this peeing problem so bad... I put the belly band on him last night, took him outside 2 times w/in one hour and i went with him. He did pee, and also I had to change his belly band 3 times within that hour he had peed so much. He is really not drinking alot of water to make him do this.... anyways he smelled so bad after this that hubby had to give him another bath. I just do not know how to live without him.....    Why cant men be more understanding????????????????????????????????????? |
Denise, I too would be hearbroken . . it is like giving up on your child. Have you checked with the vet? Maybe there something wrong with him? |
My hubby made me take him sunday to an emergency vet to have him checked over because he was so mad... There is no medical answer to this... He has no infections or anything wrong with his bladder:( :( Hubby is sooo stupid...Sorry I'm just upset:confused:  |
I don't blame you for being upset . . . our husbands don't feel the same way about dogs . . . and it can strain a marriage. Perhaps if your daughter knew about this decision she could convince him NOT to give parker away. If only you were closer, I would take him temporarily until he is back to normal . . . |
I thought maybe I should give Maddie back, Maybe it is making him worse, but then I hate to do that cause she is doing sooooo great!!!! and then if Parker doesnt work out I will have no babies!!!! I cant lose them both |
Oh no! I am so sorry! This is just terrible news. Is there anyway you can talk your hubby into hiring a trainer and giving him another chance? I'm sure you can get him trained -- maybe he needs a professional to come over and give you some tips and pointers. Good luck. I really hope you don't have to lose your baby. :( |
I was wondering if this could be a problem with submissive urination? Our last dog, a very high strung terrier mix (but the most lovely dog) had this problem when she first came to live with us. We read as much as we could on the subject and followed all of the suggestions. After a few months she pretty much was rid of the problem...though when she was really scared of someone or intimidated, she'd still pee...but that became more and more rare the older she got. Here's a link for you: http://www.hssv.org/LIBRARY/PDF/Behavior/piddles.pdf I think you have to have adobe acrobat. If not, look up submissive urination on the web...you'll find lots of info. I wish you all the best. It's a difficult situation and I wish I had the answer for you. |
Maybe he gets really intimidated by Hubby? then pees? YOu guys did a urine test too? hmmm I wonder what is going on?? Maybe he will change his mind later? |
I am so sad for you. You have until the 9th. I know you must have tried everything possible, but just maybe someone here has an idea you haven't tried yet? |
I PM'd you so I won't go into what I already wrote, but is there a room you can devote to just the babies? Is there anyway at all you can build a puppy room on to your existing house. I've heard of others doing this, I couldn't afford to, but thought I would suggest it anyway. I have a room for mine and soon I will put linoleum or something other than carpet down in case there are "mistakes". There is only one of mine that I could part with IF I absolutely had to, but the other 3, no way!! Period !!! I wouldn't care what my husband said. It takes more energy to be upset and mad than it does to be happy, so he'd just have to get over it. |

But good point on isolating the puppies to linolium or tiled room. That is where I have both my babies most of the day . . . |

Hi, IF I would have to give any up it would be Emilee. It makes me sad to say that. She was the first of our four (we had one 25 years ago), and the oldest, she'll be 3 in Dec. She and I just never bonded like we should have. I love her, and I dote on her too, I couldn't stand for her feelings to be hurt, but my feelings for her just are not the same as with the others. She still does the submissive urination when a stranger comes in the house and barks her fool head off all the time. The others don't bark much until Emilee gets them started. Maybe that's why, I don't really know for sure. But like I said, only if I HAD to, would I even think about it. |
I would love to build a separte room, but you see its hard when your hubby isnt a crazy about them as I am. Dont get me wrong he is a wonderful guy and he does love Parker but he is not dog crazy like me and I think its hard for them to understand how we truely feel. He is upset about all of this too, but He is just not as understanding... It didnt help that the vet told him Male yorkies are hard to train and that he will probably never stop this since he has started. I know he wouldnt let a professional come in a train him.. He wouldnt pay the money out. He is a tight wod and feel like its stupid to have someone else train your dog, when he says we have been bustin our a... to do the right thing. I am so torn... I dont want to cause trouble in my marriage.(been 14 yrs), but I dont want to give my baby up either. I dont think its sumission urination because he doesnt pee when he gets excited. We had a cocker spaniel who was like that. |
Does that make me sound awful? Another thing, my son picked her out. When we were at the breeders, I pulled him aside and said I just wasn't sure, but he pleaded so I said okay. The others I picked out myself. Maybe that's part of the problem. |
I'm sorry Denise, but I still just don't understand. We have Joey in a belly band and he never goes in the house, always in the band. If you have Parker in a belly band, what is there to complain about? |
