Sleeping with your Yorkie Do a lot of you let your babies sleep with you? I really would like Diamond to sleep with me but it hasn't worked so far. Usually she ends up falling off the bed (queen size) or she will just start running laps on the bed and she won't settle down. I am also paranoid that she may pee/poop on the bed. She is good with going the bathroom outside but every now and then, she is sneaky. Any tips? |
My bf wasn't going to let Kona sleep in our bed, but one day she was able to get on the bed by her self. Since then, she's been sleeping with us. She will get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. I think she has learned that when the light is off it is bedtime. Good luck! :) |
Maybe you could build a 'nest' for her with towels or blankets. That way she can't fall off the bed and also she might feel more contained what means - don't poop or pee here! :aimeeyork |
Katie sleeps with me...on hubby's pillow LMAO...he works in NM, we live in MT! Tonka is going to be home with hubby today, my new little boy and yes, i'm sure he'll sleep on the bed too! Kristie |
Kobe and Kali do not sleep with us. But they sleep right next to my bed. We tried to put Kobe in our bed when he was young but he didn't like it. He preferred his own bed next to ours. |
Gypsy sleeps in our bed. Hubby built a small ramp so she can climb up and down. |
Rocky sleeps in either his kennel or on the bed w/ us. The past few nights it was on the bed, but last night since he had such a busy night out, he passed out before we even left the bar and he slept in his kennel once we got home. I thought he would start whining in the middle of the night to get out, but he didnt wake up until this morning. When he sleeps on the bed it's soo cute when he wakes up, he has to give us kisses. |
The last 2 weeks have been so horrible for me as the babies were both sick (Coccidia and Annika with yeast infection although now completely gone) and then I got sick . . it would not be fair for only one to be in bed with us so I decided they stay in their crates in the laundry room. I am still recovering from Bronchitis (taking codin so it knocks me out) but as soon as I am completely recovered, I will have both of them back in my bed. Annika is the little one so she stays on my side of the bed but I put a huge pillow to block her off from falling. Tiger stays in the middle now since Annika has invaded his spot. If Annika is sleeping with us, she sleeps pretty much straight . . although I try to wake up in the middle of the night to let her relive herself. It has worked so far . . . she did pee one night so I had to wash my coverlet. Tiger, on the other hand, has never soiled our bed so he is pretty good. However, when he turned about 6 months, I put on a band so accidents won't happen . . .although so far, his pad has always been dry! You just need to get them used to sleeping with you I guess. The babies know that when I say "nighty nighty" then it is time to sleep. Make sure all lights are off and I kinda massage their necks which somehow makes them drowsy . . . . Why don't you put Diamond in the middle of the bed . . and have her blanket laid out so she know not to soil it. I do that both for Tiger and Annika, although Tiger no longer needs to as he is so used to not soiling . . . .he is the one that is a light sleeper and moves around the bed soooo much. I really would like to have a stairs so he can get back on the bed when he needs to. He always, always wants to jump off the bed  Be patient with Diamond . . am sure she'll come around . . . . |
Tiffany would go crazy if I didnt put her in the bed! I love it that way! She sleeps on one side of me and my son sleeps on the other side between my husband and I! (he is 2) Tiffany is great sleeping in the bed. She sleeps like a rock! |
Georgie sleeps with us and occasionally our 75lb Boxer does too. I love having them sleep with us and Georgie refuses to sleep anywhere. Coco on the other hand doesn't mind the floor she has more room to spread out:) I worried at first about him having an accident in the bed, but he was such a good boy about scratching to get down to let me know. Now he has steps and he gets down and scratches at the bedroom door to get out. If he is hyper at night we just turn the TV off and and the lights and he knows it's bedtime. |
Chester slept with me from 8 wks to almost 4 yrs, he only peed twice when I didnt get him off the bed quick enough, he would sleep around my neck as a puppy, I would miss my babydog if I could not sleep with him. He used to want to play when the light went off but he would eventually settle down. good luck |
romeo sleeps with me. i pushed my queen size bed against the wall so he won't fall out. he sleeps on a pile of pillows like a king. no pee accidents. he likes to go outside or use the wee wee pad. |
Peanut & Lexie sleep in the bed with me...I was worried about Lexie at first cause she is so little, but trust me she is a little bed hog...:aimeeyork |
I let my little Precious sleep with me (I surround her with pillows like in a little square)because she almost fell!!!:aimeeyork :animal36 :animal-pa :dogsm3 peace and love from preciousmommy |
Bo sleeps with us at home and in the truck....when he was younger he would lick me in the face to wake me up so he could use his pads but now he can get back on the bed he just goes to his pads by himself.....he has always been good about not making mistakes in the house so i dont really worry about it that much.........he likes to sleep on hubbys side more than mine and i wish he would sleep with me more but as long as i know he is in bed with us and close to me thats all that matters lol.....good luck with getting your furbaby to sleep with you i am sure you will find something that will work for the both of you |
Mia sleeps on the bed too. She can't climb on or jump off the bed, so she whines when she wants to get off/get on. She did pee on our bed once, but that was during the day. We were right there so we pulled off the sheets before the pee had a chance to seep onto the matress pad...whew. However, Mia does wake up at 6 to go potty, and then she barely goes back to sleep. Meaning I cannot go back to sleep either. Last night hubby knocked over a glass of water on the nightstand (in his sleep!!!), and we had to turn on the lights for damage control at 4 in the morning. Mia never went back to sleep. So, I couldn't either. That's the down side. She sleeps during the day to make up for it, but I do get sleep deprived sometimes. She never fell off the bed, but she does run on the bed when she wakes up. It is also fun to wake up with her kisses :D :D :D |
Bridget shares her queen size bed with me! She's such a bed hog, but I can't sleep if she's not there. She has stairs to get up and down. |
Hannah usually sleeps in her daddys recliner. Its a big fluffy one and she just curls up in a ball and sleeps there. Sometimes she'll sleep with my youngest son. But he's the only one she'll sleep with. |
Toy sleap with me. (but not near me, he always go to the other side of the bed). He never had any accident at bed. (just start barking like crasy when he want to pee, so i download him) |
Sailor sleeps in bed with me and Magic with my mom and neither have ever had a accident in bed. We always take them out to potty right before bedtime so that they will hold it all night, Magic sometimes has to go potty during the night but both are great about sleeping through the night!! We only let the girls on the bed when it is bedtime, that way they only think of it as their bedtime spot, they know that when we get in bed it is time to go to sleep. |
Cash sleeps with us occassionally... just started recently.. he loves it... |
Louie and Bella sleep with me also...we have a kingsize bed and they hog the whole thing....Louie usually cuddles up under my arm and Bella at the curve of my legs so I cant move...but I love having them with me. |
My four sleep with me and they all have there special place on the bed. The two youngest ones go up and down the pet stairs if they have to go. Rudy and Maddie don't like the stairs, Rudy can jump on and off the bed, I pick Maddie up and she sleeps all night. I miss when one is not on the bed. |
Yes, mine sleep with me. How old is your little one. I waited till my were around 4 1/2 months before I started letting them. They did fine. |
I have an old fashioned playpen. It is the kind you use for babies. Well during the day we keep one side down and he goes in and out playing with his babies. That is where he sleeps at night. I tried to let him sleep with us once and after he finished snuggling he got up and crawled into the playpen on his own! He actually likes sleeping in his own bed. Plus I am scared that he might pee on my bed. He has a puppy pad in his playpen but hasn't used it in ages but you never know.We also have a large Shepherd that sleeps with us. This is the main reason I don't let Diesel sleep with us. I worry that Shep might lay on him since he is so little and you can't really see him at night. So this seems to work for us. Michelle |
Sadie sleeps with us..She used to sleep in her crate until we went on a vaca..I was already in bed and told my hubby to put her to bed..When I woke up in the morning there she was! Well, that's all it took...just once...she has been sleeping with us ever since..Sadie has never fallen off the bed...she will sleep either under the covers and curls up under my armpit (PU!) or....she will lay along my side...Being a Mom I think my senses tell me that she is there..I usually either keep my hand on her or around her..just in case... |
Trixie sleeps on my bed every night, but she didn't start doing that until she was well over a year old. |
Sissy likes to cuddle with us in bed as we are winding down and watching TV. She usually lays on my hubby's legs and does not move. However, when it is time for bed, she gets restless unless we put her downstairs in her "room". Just recently we have started bringing her into bed in the mornings with us. Weekdays, I get up at 5:15 - so that is potty time, even on the weekends. We don't usually get up till around 8:00 on weekends, so after pottying, she comes to bed with us, snuggles right up and goes back to sleep. If my hubby is in bed, she usually lays on his pillow. If not, she will lay across my back (I sleep in my stomach) and she doesn't move till we then get up. BTW, our bed is pretty high and she cannot even begin to get on it by herself. She will jump down if she wants off fast, but I try not to let her do that. |
Bear has slept with us since day 2... Then first night in his crate he cried all night. Then second night he started out crying, and out of frustration, I put him in bed with us. It worked perfectly! He has been in bed with us since. He lays next to hubby while we are watching t.v., (he is so funny because he digs around and roots until he finds the perfect spot to lay down), but when lights go out, he roots his way under the covers to curl up beside or on me. He is so, so, sweet! |
