Does anyone know what causes a Yorkie to be solid blonde or solid Gold in Color?I have a female that is 15 months old and she is SOLID BLONDE!!! She is AKC reg. and both parents are Blue/Gold?

She's gorgeous! Awww!!!!

My Sully is all blonde also! His mom was black/grey and blonde and his dad was a blondie, so I guess that's where he gets it.

I'm planning on breeding her this week with a darker male, so we'll see what we get!!

My grandmother's 7 year old yorkie has been blue/gold her whole life, but within the past couple of months, she has turned solid blonde!! I think it is so pretty!

You have a gorgeous yorkie! :D

WOW! She's so pretty!! Piper's dad has a lot of blonde in him but he's not ALL blonde like your beauty. Piper favors his mom, so no blondie for me. Will be interesting to see her pups...:goodluck: !!

amberly-she is so beautiful!!! like a platinum blonde! my yorkie/pom is blonde but she looks more like Passion's baby but with a long curly tail.

Sheesh, she looks just like my Mercedes!!! It is a color anomally....overload of the red genes. I'll attach a picture....you would think they were twins!:D

she is so beautiful. I have two girls and would'nt mind at all if they were that colour. I suppose its just on of those things, like when you get a pure white boxer:)

She is beautiful. I would love to have one that color. Not sure what causes it though.

The closest(sp) I have ever see to one your color was a blonde and blue she was gorgeous she had thick wavy hair.

My neighbor has 2 of them both blondes same litter. Brother and Sister one is 5 lbs and one is 10 lbs. She prefers the blondes.

Your very lucky..I personally love a totally blond yorkie. I would have loved it. Not sure what Lex will be yet as he seems to still be changing...then again he is only seven months and from what I have read will continue to change.

Some turn blonde looking but are standard color when born. However, your girl was born with a color anomally (no black or brown hair) and will never have dark hairs.

Sully was a standard color when he was born, but he's pretty much all blonde now.

I saw that he is a blonde now!! He does seem to have the most fun...so he figured he may as well go blonde I guess:D ! He is totally adorable! His theory is probably "Blondes having more fun isn't just about girls ya know!"

Incorrect genes are :

ay ay and ee = resticts the dark area of the coat and is responsible for puppies born all tan .

cch or CC = cause red yellow pigment to form in the coat giving a bronze cast to the steel coat and orangey tan area

dd = puppies born blue instead of black

g g = cause body coat to remain black in the adult .

sp sp = cause excessive white markings
