Sully locked himself in the car! Yes, it is 87°F outside today....and I took Sully on a couple errands with me. When I came back, I stopped in the Home Owners' Association regime office to speak to the manager for like 2 minutes and I left Sully in the car outside. The car was parked in the semi-shade, it was cooled down inside from A/C but I turned off the engine and left the radio and the vents running. And of course the car unlocked b/c the keys were in the ignition. When I came back outside a minute and a half later, the car was unlocked and Sully was in his carseat, patiently waiting. BUT WHEN HE SAW ME, he jumped out of his seat towards my door, excited to see me, and pushed the LOCK button with his paw! I had to call AAA and 25 minutes later, got my car unlocked. Sully is fine, and when he got home, he drank a gallon of water and now he's taking a nap. I, on the other hand, am sunburned and my nerves are frazzled like crazy. I'm never leaving him in the car again, not even for two seconds! Hmph, talk about learning the hard way, LOL! I'm so glad I didn't park in the sun and that AAA was able to help me, but wow, what a day. I'm getting my raft and going to the pool. Pina Colada, anyone? |
Ha-ha! Sounds just like a yorkie! Muffin locked the door once, but luckily I had the key in my pocket! :D They can give you a nervous breakdown. |
Miss Valerie - do we need to have the CAR Talk ? ;) ;) ;) ....I remember doing that with my cockers..... after Really thinking about how easy it can be for them to be stolen or something worse - I stopped taking them if I knew I couldn't take them in - and I'm way too scared to ever leave the Yorkie girls -I'm in the City and we have ALL the Kooks in Houston - a yorkie would be gone in seconds if left in the car - :( ...no make that - my CAR would be gone in seconds, girls and all... if I left it running That Sully is a lucky boy that it wasn't super hot and knowing how smart he is - I'm surprised he didn't unlock the door for you. :D and DANG those Home Owners Associations - man - they are pains in the BUTT aren't they ? I would say this is all their fault ...just BECAUSE. |
Poor Sully. :p He missed his mommy in the whole 2 seconds you were gone! Don't you know he has to come with you all over? LOLOL Don't tell Vee, but I leave Baby in the car when I run into Quik Chek for 2 seconds too. |

Luckily, I live in a secure gated community...and I was around the corner from my condo (though my house keys were locked in the car). I would never leave Sully in the car if I had been ANYWHERE else, especially in this heat, but gosh...I was practically home! Wah! I don't get away with ANYTHING! |
maybe take an extra set of keys with you from now on |

and lol Val - yeah - I bet those treats were a ploy by the HOA lady :D I knew you lived in a gated community - and I know you would never let anything happen to that boy - I wish I could take my girls out like you can where you live - Houston is becoming a fast haven for Dog Knappers - it's really bad here now. |

And speaking of him being a wonder-dog, I left out a part of my story...after being on the phone for 20 minutes with AAA, Sully jumped on the door again and.......hit the window button.....and it rolled down the back passengers' side window only about 2 inches and so after some *painful maneuvering* on my part, I was able to pull the door lock up! Crazy, huh? At least I saved having to wait for the AAA locksmith but I'm still sunburned darnit! ~ I've heard some scary stories about dognappers, and of couse yorkies are very friendly and would go to (most) anyone, and they have a high resale value. Over my dead body, ain't nobody taking my Sully away from me! LOL. |
LOL !!!!!! SEE ? I KNEW he could do it - he was teachin you a lesson - probably thinkin - THAT'll teach her not to take me in with her :p |
Here's my secret..I have a spare key on the bolt that keeps my license plate on..behind the plate...you dont even have to have a screwdriver to get it undone..you can use a coin :D My dad came up with the idea..now just dont go stealin my car! :D |

And there I am getting sunburned with my cellphone to my ear held with my shoulder and my arm squished in a 2-inch open window. I had to use my other hand to pull my skin on each side of my arm in a little at a time to get my arm that far down in the window to reach the unlock button! *Ouchie!* |

Awwwwww Sully! I'm glad he is okay and yes I'd love to have a pina colada with ya'll :) |
I think most towns have a community service officer at the police station and they come pretty quick when a kid pr dog is locked in a car probably faster than AAA |
Poor thing...... That's the way they are. casper always locks himself in my room LOL |
Poor Sully!! I am so glad that he's ok!! :) |

If I need to leave my furbabies in the car, I always keep the valet key in my pocket. They can be very unpredictable. |
Why don't you get a "Hida-Key" and hide it somewhere on the car. I have had one for years and it has saved me many times! I put house and car keys so I am prepared though the last time I locked my self out of the house, I unfortunately had my Van at the shop! What are the odds? |

OMG!!! Sully is such a crazy boy, lol. So glad you were able to get it unlocked quickly. |
This is why you need a car with "OnStar" even Batman has OnStar in his car.:D |
Oh No  Poooooooor Sully!!! Bad mommy!HAHAHA It was probably harder on you than it was him. Its cooler in Ohio if Sully wants to come her with Gidget and Max. Lol |

GOsh I totally know how you feel! When I locked Dougal in the car by snapping the key off in the lock I was distraught, and it wasn't even hot or anything! Dougal just kept looking at me like "mum, why aren't you getting me out of the car already? It's agility class time!". I'm so glad Sully's all ok! Don't forget to moisturise to deal with that sunburn. Maybe you can get Sully to rub the moisturiser into your back to make up for freaking you out. :D |
Oh Val!!! Poor sweetie, you must have been frantic!! I once left my car running with the dogs inside while I ran inside our neighborhood grocery to get a soda. It was ME that by habit, locked the car on my exit! DUH Luckily I was 5 minutes from home with my hubby available to run me the spare key! Lesson learned, eh my friend?:p |

Wow! I know you had a scare! Poor Sully, glad all turned out ok. |
Similar story with skin baby I did this once with my 2 week old son (who now is almost 21) I threw my keys in the diaper bag and was going to get the bag out the same time I got him out. Well stupid me locked the car from the inside after throwing my keys in the diaper bag. So the bag and my son were locked in the car! I was at Target. I frantically ran in the store to customer service and called the police. The cart attendent was helping me try to get the car unlock with a clothes hanger. The police finally came and wasn't unable to unlock it either with their jimmy stick. I was freaking and I went to call a locksmith. While I was on the phone, the cart attendent came in with my son in his carseat and all!! He was able to unlock the door. I'll never forget this! Needless to say I learned a lesson that day. THANK YOU CART ATTENDENT!!!!! My son slept through the whole thing! |
You need to get a car with a key pad. That little key pad has saved my butt more times than once. It's great you just type in the little code & the doors open. love it. However, I still can't leave Logan in the car while it's running because he's learned how to roll the windows down. Even if we lock the windows you can't lock the drivers controls & he knows if he goes to the drivers door & jumps around eventually one of the windows will roll down & then he runs around the car til he finds that window. He hasn't jumped out yet, but we don't leave him unattended in the car either. |
