| ![]() I just happen to glance out my window this morning and there was what I thought was a fox trotting down my street , but there is a highway and I think the noise from the cars and trucks scared him and he cut through my yard to get to the woods. I went on-line this morning to look at pictures of foxes . wolfs, and coyotees, because the more I thought about it the more I was starting to think that it really didnt look like a fox because ive seen those and they are smaller than this was. It looked just like the picture of the coyotee that I saw on-line. I was so scared to go out to my car with Bella this morning to bring my son to school. I kept thinking the thing was gonna lunge out from somewhere. Im just so happy that I was not outside walking my babies when that thing was around. Its strange becuase you never see those things in these parts and I would have never thought to be on my guard from one of those. you can bet my eyes are gonna be WIDE open when I take them for walks now. Sorry so long guys. ![]()

| ![]() I'd be watchful - but wouldn't worry a lot. Growing up, I spent a lot of time on a ranch in west Texas, and came in contact with quite a few coyotes. They're generally pretty timid, and I doubt that one would ever be agressive if you were around - but I wouldn't bet my puppy's life on it. Just keep your eyes open and Louie close. |

| ![]() Wow! It is such a scary feeling seeing coyotees that close. When they have lost their fear of man enough to come that close to the house they are very dangerous! Can you call your local animal control and put them on notice? |

| ![]() I often see a coyote when I take my son to school. It reminds me to keep a close watch on my babies when they are outside playing and going potty. Coyotes have been known to snatch our little ones even when we are with them. |

| ![]() There are coyotes in Mass. Because of suburban sprawl their territory is being constricted and they are becoming acclimated to living in neighborhoods. Keep and eye on your babies and let them out with you on a leash, not alone. Coyotes are more afraid of you than you are of him but they are becoming used to humans unfortunately. |

| ![]() I live in a condo complex and while walking Buddy at the end of March I saw one running and playing in the woods that surrounds our complex. At first I thought someone's shepard got loose but soon realized it was a cayotee. Just last week it was on the news that one attacked a doberman in it's own yard and tore it's leg open. They live not far from me. I do worry about our 10:00 walk at night even though it is well lit. The attack was in daylight. |

| ![]() It is soo scary they have gotten really bad in VA. My boyfriend lives on a farm and his landlord saw two there the other week and ever time I let Abigail and Summer out now I have to keep a close eye on them.

| ![]() We saw a coyote in our backyard 2 nights ago! I usually let Hobbs out without a leash, but not anymore! A good friend of ours had her baby yorkie eaten by a coyote. So sad ![]() |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | ![]() don't blame the coyotes please. its not their fault they are coming into more suburban areas. their homes are being taken away from them and they need more places to go. In my neighborhood we are seeing alot more coyotes, black bears, and deer coming further and further down the mountain which used to be there home. See our brillant city council decided to build more townhouses on the side of the mountain and it took a big chunk of wildlife homes away. so now these critters have no where to live. its very sad in my opinion. In most cases, the black bears and the coyotes will NOT bother humans because they are scared (unless babies are around). sure they are getting a little more used to people but that doesn't mean they are going to attack you. As for your yorkies, yes you need to be more careful with them, but please don't all go around calling animal control on them if they are minding their own business. AC is just going to kill them. They don't have the time to relocate every animal that gets picked up now.

Kellie is right, All they are doing is looking for food - All small furry animals qualify. We live next to a forest preserve and have just about every type of native creature in our back yard at one time or another. Coyotes scare me but I don't want them hurt either. Fortunately we have a huge german shepherd that doesn't allow anything but his dogs in the yard. He will tear out after trespassers as soon as he spots them. (Poor squirrels.) Coyotes run when they see him, one didn't make it out and got a good thrashing but Big Ivan wasn't hurt. (Yes he's up on his shots.) I know that in the not to distant future I will have to fence in an area that has a cover so the little ones can stay out for a while without me watching their every move. Right now they have a great babysitter but the Coyotes are appearing more and more often...... | |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ![]() I agree we can't blame the animals - it's our fault they don't have their natural homes anymore but MAN would that SCARE ME ! PLEASE BE CAREFUL ALWAYS ...if you see one -there are probably more and wow ...that would totally freak me out. The most I've seen in my yard is a possem and HE scared me because the girls go in the yard. |
