What do you Suggest I do?
 

I went to vet a few weekends ago, you may remember when we was discussing him telling me that my Bailey wasn't full blooded:angry:?.... Anyways....
So June 3rd I got the Advantix Plus, put it on them... yesterday it was bath time:daisy:, and as I am washing them, I see a flea on my Gracie, and a tick under her jaw:confuse2:!!! Now, there just won't be none of that! I will not tolerate that! No sucker bugs on my babies.... so... my question is, what do you suggest I buy. Because apparently the Advantix Plus is not the cure for my country growing yorkies in the state of South Carolina....Because they are always running and playing outside, and we do have trees and plenty of land. :woof::baseball::woof:

Yeah so much for that...

I use Frontline plus, and have had no problems, use if on cat and dog both.
Yeah I'd be switching if I were you.

I can't help but I was kinda wondering the same thing..... Nothing seems to be working longer than a week or two on my kids either.... I wonder if there is a spray for our yards or something that would be safe for our pups?

Also I was wondering if the flee and tick collars work and I could just put it on the when they go outside?

When I lived in San Diego, we had TERRIBLE fleas!! It was so bad that you didn't dare walk thorough the house with white socks on. I had Ginger on "Program" (if I remember the name right!!). It's a pill they take once a month. It didn't keep them away 100%, but I'll bet it was about 95%. We don't have the same dreaded fleas here now. Thank God!! We have "sand fleas" and they're not near as bad!! Good luck!

They are supposed to be pretty bad this summer I know that much, and I have wasted so much money on collars, and they make my babies stink on top of that. Now Im just mad, because I just wasted $64.00 on this Advantix crap, and I got to go spend another 60 something on the frontline. I can bet the vets wont refund either! Oh well, they are worth it, You'd laugh if I told you the amount I have already spent on my 2 babies, so whats another 64 to keep them happy, and itch free this summer. I am just mad at myself for buying such crap....:mad:

YUCK YUCK YUCK On FLEAS!!! I HATE THOSE DOG GONE THINGS!!!! I tell ya, I checked my babies for like 2 hours straight last night, and I only seen that one on Gracie, but just the thought of those durn things coming in the house and making colonies in our own home... Umm Nope I don't think so!! Out they go! Ewww, I just can't ticks either.... Ewww.... sorry. lol

I'd check on a refund, or at least exchange it, they have to have some sort of guarantee. Or should..

Ha, your talking about the same vet that said my Bailey was not a Yorkie! I just called them and they talked to me like I was an idiot... "Uuuuuuh, maam we cannot offer a refund after you have already applied it!, But if you have any tubes left we can swap those out!" What?? Stupid... Stupid...

Well no S*it Sherlock, its not like a toy, you put together, and if it doesn't work or peices are missing you can return it to Wal-Mart to replace it or get a refund, how else are you supposed to know if it works or not?

Frontline Plus
 

I use Frontline Plus and never had a problem. My vet also told me not to bath them 3 days before you apply it or three days after. :)

That might be the problem, I bathed them the night before they had the vet visit. ????

OMG, I just switched from Frontline to K9 Advantix because it is supposed to repell mosquitos and we have TONS of those around here. Don't make me regret this! :confused: :confused: :confused:

Don't be in regret yet.... I probably should not have put this on them the day after their bath.

Just see how it works. Maybe that was where I went wrong... But who wants to wait 3 days to let the fleas and ticks come and eat up your babies?

Thats what I was thinking anyways... I wanted to hurry up and get it on them....

Well, can you tell me if I'm not supposed to bathe them the night before I put it on? Wonder what I did wrong? I come home yesterday, and I fount one (tick) on her, not quite clinging to her yet, but then at bath time, sure enough.....There was one stuck to her....

Well since frontline is applied once a month just make sure they get a bath at least three days before they are due again, and no flea & ticks will get your babies because they wern't due for it yet. Well thats what I do.;)

It doesnt say anything about not bathing them on the advantage box so I think you can. I dont know about other brands though

How often do they get baths? Maybe you should call your vet.

I dont know, we will just have to see... I just hate them bugs!!!

I give them a bath about every 2 weeks.

we live out in the country where there is alot of mud puddles, alot of things to keep the dirt magnetized to them.... So sometimes more than often, I have to bathe them once a week....

Years ago we moved into a new house (new to house, but it was an older home). Anyway, it had been well maintained, and we had all the carpets and flooring replaced BEFORE we moved in. We moved in in the late fall. Well, come spring I was doing battle with fleas and ticks like you would not believe. We could not win. Finally, someone told me that we probably had them in the house:( .

We called around and found an exterminator who guaranteed against fleas, went away for the weekend (even though they told us the products they used were safe...don't know if any are actually safe). We repeated this 3 times (for the guarantee). No more fleas!

Tea tree oil
 

:thumbup: Maybe try adding a little teatree oil to there shampoo when you bath them. I would still use the vet stuff but the tea tree repels all those suckers the same with Avon (SSS) skin so soft.

That just sounds like a horrific nightmare to me!!! I would go insane!!! lol

I have the Skin So Soft...Ok, maybe I shouldn't do this, but I do to keep their coat pretty... and it makes them smell good, and their coats are nice. Anyways, I have this spray mist body oil stuff, its in a pink bottle and its a little scented... I spray a tiny bit on them after baths....Where can I get the Tea Tree oil?

And that stuff is made by Avon, Skin So Soft....

Well, I suppose nothing is 100%. Who knows? I use the Advantix + on Kacee, but we also use granules in our yard and make sure to get them under the shrubs where fleas and ticks are more numerous. Be sure to apply them before a good rain that will dissolve them. We've always used them with great success and my vet recommends them as well. I've never used flea and tick collars. As a P.S., I never used any flea treatment on Muffin. Just used the granules and she never had any problem. The reason I use the Advantix + on Kacee is because we go a lot of other places and I wanted her to be protected.

I live in Al. I use the k9 advantix and I found one tick on Kizzy but it was a couple days after I put it on her but since that she hasnt had anymore. I was thinking maybe it just hadnt gotten into her system at the time. But now she has not had anymore and she plays outside off and on too. we have lots of land and trees also. I've heard ticks are bad this year so it seems to be working for her so far and i've only used it once. that was May. I'll do it again the 23rd of June. goodluck to you on getting what works for you. I think mine says no bath a day or two before or after.

well i used revolution on my princess ever sense i got her but the last few months she seems to get fleas YUCk so i asked sis in law what she uses she told me topspot or frontline so i switched to that.

There are two types of frontlines: Topspot & Plus. My vet said Frontline Plus is the best, but I am not sure why? By accident I bought Frontline topspot and my vet its ok for one month but try to only use Frontline Plus! :)

You can get teatree oil at walmart in the drug section under the natual stuff. if you don't see it ask the pharmasist. The SSS that you were talking about is soft and sensual right? I sell Avon and no I don't sell on line sorry:) but from what i have seen and used, the Origional works the best mix it 50/50 with water and mist on :cool: I hope that helps. Oh and for humans a bounce sheet unused in the loop of your belt or wasteband. will keep bugs away for hours.:animal-pa

the frontline and advantix work by mixing in the natural oils in their skin and that's how it moves all oer them so when you bathe them and wash away all the oils it doesn't have a way to get all over them. It takes a few days for that to happen and it said that it can take a few days for it to be effictive against ticks. that's why the no bath thing doesnt' say it on the boxes anymore but it used too. the companies decided they could leave that off now for some odd reason.
we had a terrible time last year with fleas. One of my best friends her husband has his own exterminating co. he told me a few things to do. if you have carpet remove the bag from the house after vacuuming. the fleas get sucked up in the bag and then after your done they just climb back out. we had to have everything sprayed last year was terrible frontline didnt' work advantix didnt' work I bought everything the vet sold and everything at the feed store for fleas and it was like I was giving them fertility drugs confused: He told me that something happened to the fleas last year wasnt' just my house that most of his calls were from people saying the same thing as me. He had to order and mix different stuff to get rid of them himself. he went into a big explainnation about what happened to the fleas and why we couldnt' kill them but my mind wandered after he said I'll get em for ya.
