This is gross but.... My cat threw up on the landing to go into the basement and when I came back with the stuff to clean it, it was almost all GONE! Brutus just ATE the cats puke! Now not only do I want to hurl myself but I'm worried he's going to be sick. I purposely keep the cats food and litter in the basement because Brutus will eat just about ANYTHING but he doesn't go down there. Can they get sick from eating cat food? Well, regurgitated cat food? I guess I'll find out soon enough. :sickie: |
I don't think so. But that is nasty. I love when they decide to eat their own. |
It really IS nasty! I just gave him a few baby carrots and a bone to get his breath better! |
My cats have a tendancy to regurgitate their food... Between the three of 'em we have it happen quite often. Fortunately they tend to do it in a room Pixie doesn't have access to, or I'm sure she'd eat it too! I used to clean it up right away, now I just leave 'em. The culprit usually eats it again right away anyway.... Why not? It was probably only in their stomach for a few minutes and hasn't even begun to be digested! I don't think an occasional cat food snack is going to do too much damage, but I wouldn't make it a regular occurrence. Cat food is generally too high in fat and protiens for our pups and could eventually cause health problems if eaten regularly. And I agree, it is gross... But then again, it's no worse than when she plays with kitty hairballs and snacks on "litter box treats" |
My boxer has eatin my throw up (from when I couldnt make it to the bathroom on time) and his own. He's never gotten sick. Its disgusting as hell, and make sure they don't lick you for a long time. Brush his teeth too! |
Eww, sick. Ginger would have done the same thing given the opportunity. I doubt it will make him sick. He just wanted to help Mom out around the house. You can’t be upset about that. Lol :p |
That IS gross!!! I have always heard that it is o.k. for dogs to eat cat food but cats should not eat dog food. Unless the puke contained poison or something, I am sure Brutus will be fine! |
Update Brutus didn't get sick from this adventure so I'm glad about that!:) |
[QUOTE=I purposely keep the cats food and litter in the basement because Brutus will eat just about ANYTHING but he doesn't go down there. . :sickie:[/QUOTE] and now is official, Brutus will eat ANYTHING... just like my dog, god i saw him eat cat poo.... |
You think thats bad.....! I read this thread this morning and thought it was disgusting then what should happen in our household??! We are potty training our little girl and she went poop on her potty this morning:thumbup: ,we are all telling her what a good girl she is and helping her pull her clothes up when my son whos 7 shouted "Paddy you dirty little thing" and he had eaten what my daughter had deposited just a few seconds before:eek: . Its not as if I dont give him treats!!!!!!! Anyway, sorry if that made anyone feel sick!! It did me too! :p |
Been there done that! My cat does this often, I think he's bulimic.. Binge and purge, and then it's on too see who can get to it the quickest, me or Bailey.. |
Oh I agree...nothing is more stomach churning than catching them eating vomit....their own or others. Ramsey says what the cat throws UP tastes better than the food she gets. |
