i have 4 yorkies 2 i bred my self and 2 rescue yorkies, and i love it. will be moving in september and will be getting another one. its kind of pot luck to how your other ones will get on with it and how hard it will be to train, scampi was so easy and a lot of stuff he just kind of did his self without me even training him, then i got sasha when he was 5 and she was a bit of a madam to house train but got it in the end, then scampi and sasha had a one night stand lol and along came tye and zac which i kept and were a nightmare to train as they are a bit barkward due to a hard birth:( it took 7 years to house train:eek: then scampi died aged 15 so i only had 3 then 2 years later sasha died aged 12 so i only had 2 and i didnt like it so i got brandi my rescue yorkie and she got one with tye from the start but zac didnt like her, took him about 2 weeks to get to like her and now they have kisses, then i got annie another rescue and tye and zac got on with her from the start but brandi and her had a few fights but now love each other to bits. so its pot luck really if they will all get on and how hard it will be to train them, id say go for a rescue yorkie that way you will no if they will get on and house training is already done:) |
theres always an adjustment When i got Moe we had teddy and Sassy our rescue dogs....Sassy was my hubbys baby, and Teddy was my constant shadow.Teddy did not like the idea of Moe at all, Sassy didn't mind because Moe didn't interfere with her being daddy's # 1 girl. I had to show Teddy that just because Moe was around, didn't mean he had lost his place in the "pack", it took a good month for Teddy, but he was a severely abused rescue dog and I was his world, so to share with moe was hard for him.Now Teddy and Moe are the best of pals, and teddy protects Moe when outside, we have a stray cat who likes to taunt, So i would say, if you go into it knowing there will be adjustments, and able to share out the Love without making the present day babies feel they have lost thier possition, I don't see the problem. |
I have 2 and just love it . . . since you have 2, I am not sure how a 3rd one would feel is both your babies gang up on her :D . I think even numbers are sooo much better . . of course I would know as I only have 2 . . . so tell your dear hubby you need 2 instead of 1 :D |
i only have one. but i will say go for it  :D |

Ive always said if I get another one then I am going to get 2 at once, bc I want an even number but.... The first thing out of Adam's mouth last night after he said that was.... And I said ONLY 1 you are not getting 2!!! So thats out of the question, LOL! |
I say go for it ... more puppy kisses!! |
I had a similar experience a couple months ago. I had 2 males and hubby and I both wanted another. As luck would have it, I ran across a lady who GAVE me a beautiful 2 year old little girl. My 1 yr. old loved her, the 2 yr. old was jealous and just tolerated her. We really enjoyed it the first week, then the bed seemed to get smaller, leashes were tangled when we walked them, traveling is a whole 'nother story. To make a long story short, my daughter only had her 2 yr.old girl, so we decided everyone would be happier if Gracie went to live with my daughter. Worked out great! The girls are about the same size (10 lbs) and my boys are both about 6 lbs. I do think I would like to have a "little" girl one day, but I do love my boys!:D |
I know EXACTLY what you mean! I have one yorkie now, and my husband was the one who approached me about getting a second one. Of course I got really really excited and said YES. We called the breeder from whom we got Hobbs and committed to getting another one from her, which we are supposed to bring home in early July. But now that the time is getting closer, I am getting so apprehensive. I just love Hobbs so much, and I don't want him to feel like I am replacing him in any way. Also, Hobbs is just so good and well behaved, that I am nervous about how bad the new puppy might be. But, after considering everything, I am getting more excited about getting her. We are going to visit her for the first time next week, and I know I am just going to fall in love when I see her. So, don't worry. How could you possibly not love another one?! :D |
I have three Hi there, I have three and they are like kids. They take care of each other. The only issue I had when I got the baby at nine weeks was Ceeby was a little jealous. Not much. Only when she was in my lap. Now that she is six months old, the rough play doesn't bother her either. I used to have to rescue her from Ceeby . he loves to play. She can hold her own now. Her breeder had not even started to pee pad train her or anything. She only had a few accidents in the house at first, then I guess she noticed the other two peeing on the pad and she started going on the pad to pee. I am not so fortunate with the poop. Most of the time they all poop on the pads but sometimes not. Now that it is summer, I am training them to go outside. It takes me about an hour each week to bathe and groom them. About half an hour or so each day to comb and wash hineys and eyes. Two is far better than one. One is so lonely. Three is even better and if Silk ever has any babies, I will have four because I am keeping one of hers. |
Decision? DECISION?!! What decision? Get the Yorkie! Nah, you'll have to decide if you have the time. I know for us, two has been infinitely better than one. We dogsit a third all the time, and that's even better. |
What a wonderful husband. I have thought about a 3rd with the same questions you have. I like the pairs idea. But I think 3 would be just fine. I say GO FOR IT!!! |
Becareful three turns in to four ha! I have been blessed that all four of mine get along great. My oldest Maddie is really laid back, and only plays when she wants, the other three play all the time. Do your two girls have the same personality? My four are all so different. I have two girls and two boys all are altered except Sprout. |
I would get a yorkie that is not a puppy. Maybe a Rescue! Get one that is potty trained ect.Good Luck and Happy Anniversary:2party: :dreaming: |
i think you should go for it. BUT i would encourage you to STRONGLY consider rescuing an older yorkie. rescuing baxter was the best thing i ever did. |
Go on Heather, you know you want one!!! My only question is girl or boy!!!! |
