Mad! Sad! Confused? 4 Attachment(s) :aimeeyork To be honest, I can't tell you what I am feeling in my mind. Let me just briefly tell you what happened to me and my Bailey over the weekend. They had their Vet appt. this weekend. It was a new Vet office. Took them in there, it was time for them to get their rabies & updated shots, and I had to get their advantix for the summer. Anyways, My lil Gracie Lou has 2 kanines on each side of her lower jaw (totalling 4). I mentioned that to him, she is 6.5 months old. He said wait another 2 months before he may have to pull the front showing ones. So as we are just randomly talking about them, I jokingly say: ** "Yeah everyone jokes and says my Gracie is mixed w/ something, they do it to get to me, because I spent so much on her, and mostly everyone ooohhhs and ahhhhs at my Bailey because they say he just looks like a lil stuffed teddy bear" After that, he stops dead in his tracks and looks at me with a raised eyebrow, and says: ** "Well you need to not worry about your Gracie being mixed, I can tell you that she is 100% Yorkie all the way!! You need to be worried about your Bailey, I cant guarantee you, but I have my strong doubts that he is 100% yorkie, because of the shape of his head, his ears aren't standing and he is rather big for his dog class" I begin to not be rude but inform him of my researching and advising him, there are many yorkies whose ears don't stand, and who are bigger in size than most. And Baileys head isn't all that big, he just has a ton of hair already. So as I leave, all my concern for Gracie has now turned onto my Bailey. Is it possible he can't be full Yorkie? I got the AKC papers on him and all, I seen his mommy & daddy, and I seen his 1 brothers and 2 sisters. How or what on earth do I do? I need to know, its been a rough few days for me. I love my Bailey all the same, nothing will ever change that. Nothing at all! But imagine you fount out your Yorkie was a Yorkie Poo or something? Its a ball of mixed Thoughts. Just wondering what yall think? Here are some pics of him again.... Thanks to all of ya! |
He looks all Yorkie to me! |
thats a yorkie 100% :p |
DITTO! He is so cute!:D |
He looks all yorkie to me too. |
He looks all yorkie to me also |
Yeah Well!!! He can kiss my cutie patootie, because I know he was wrong. He might be big, and he might have floppy ears, but he is my baby boy, and I knew he was 100% yorkie. I just wondered why on earth do I feel more knowledgable than someone that went to school to be a veterinarian. I mean don't get me wrong, he was a great doctor, but I guess he hit that spot, when he was saying those words to me. Yall know how it is, just like a few months ago, I took my Gracie to my sons tee ball game, and this lady was like " what kind of Dog is that?" with her snarled up snooty face, and I said "she is a Yorkshire Terrier" she immediately said " Well, my friend has a Yorkshire Terrier, and she doesn't look nothing like THAT!" I felt like knockin her out...lol... Don't talk about my babies, ya know! I said really nicely "well, she is just a baby still, she still has a lot of growing to do". That lady just walked away... ewww. some ppl have the nerve. |
i would say yorkie too:) |
100% Yorkie ball of fur..... Crystal |
hmmmm, sounds like you might want to find a new Vet. He's all Yorkie, any Vet should know that!:) :) :) :) |
Bailey is the kind of Yorkie that reminds you of why a person just can't have one Yorkie. A doggie owner could only dream of having a dog so cute!! Your Vet may be a bone head, but if he is a good vet I'd stick with him...but if he starts taling about wanting to judge dogs tell him to keep his day job! Seriously though, I know that hits a sore spot, but don't lose your vet over a silly mistake like that. As long as he has a good relationship with your furry babies and can communicate well with you he'll make a fine vet. Bailey is honestly the sweetest looking, most adorable puppy doggie. I don't have my sweetie yet, Stacy's workin' on it, but I can only hope my little dog will grow to be as cute as your Bailey, he has perfect yorkie looks. About that woman though....I STILL cannot figure out what would posess these people to make snide remarks about another persons dogs. I just think that is so rude!! I woulnd NEVER, EVER say something about another persons dog and I just can't imagine what these people are thinking. Everyone is always sharing stories about people picking on their dogs in public and I just want to know where you all live because I've never heard of anything so rude! When people try to say mean things about your dogs, just laugh at them , becuase that is honestly the most absurd thing I've ever heard. ((((((Bailey))))) |
Bailey reminds me so much of our Sailor when she was a puppy...she is now full grown and looks 100% yorkie!!! She just has the more teddy bear face but believe me, we saw her parents and know that she is purebreed.... Bailey is so adorable, don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise!! |
Well that made me smile, thank you so much. You should just meet my Bailey in Person. He is the most sweetest ball of joy. He is always chillin like Bob Dylan. He has the "whatever happens happens" kind of attitude. Not scared of nothing or nobody, not hyper at all, (except treat time). But all the while, still has that chillin laid back kind of style. He loves to dance for me. And poor baby is always called "Fat Boy". Aww, I miss my babies so much. I work full time during the day, and this is where I go to keep them in my mind during each day I work. Gracie.... She is very timid, very sweet, but scared at times...(still don't know what to do about that) Shes 5 lbs, My Bailey is 9.5 lbs. Gracie likes to literally be held like a baby, and passed along to others like a teeny baby. She's so spoilt.... So very princess-like. Its amazing how different their personalities are. And I've had the love of Yorkies since I was 16 yrs of age. I am just now getting my Yorkies at the age of 28. Because I finally said Im dedicating some money for the babies that have lived in my heart since I was a child. I cry over them, and how much I love them. Just cry out of nowhere for how happy they make me. No dog has ever done this, except my Prissy. She was a mixed Yorkie, Pug, Chihuahua, all into one. Lost her a year ago. (had her since I was 15) Anyways, sorry for rambling on and on... But I know you are going to feel a different love in your heart when you get your baby. I had the advantage of getting 2. I bought one, and my boyfriend said we need to buy her a boyfriend. So we did...:D Anyways... enough rambling. Point is, is that I love my babies, and best not nobody tell me they aint what they are anymore, cause I am liable to hurt someone...lol, jk... (maybe not??) |

Hey there! You wouldn't happen to have any pics of your baby girl when she was a baby puppy compared to now do you? I see the ones popping up over there, (whatever thats called...lol) but they pop so quickly. Thank you, I know though that he is. Just astonished me I guess. |
i have come to realise that akc is just a registration....they dont see the dog so i think my kirby might just be a silky....he has all the traits size.... WHO CAN YOU TRUST???????? |
Bailey is so adorable and he looks all yorkie to me. |
I vote for all yorkie. Bailey reminds me of my rugrats :) when they were small... Sammy is large for a yorkie, around 11.5 lbs and I know he is 100% fiesty yorkie...... |
Just because he is a vet doesn't mean he is a breed expert. THey don't learn breed standards in school. DOn't listen to him, not everyone is right. Question authority! |
oh the vet is being ridiculous. bailey is all yorkie, don't worry!! both mine are big with floppy ears and im SURE they dont meet any standards, but i know for a fact (akc papers and parents) that one of them is, and i'm darn positive the other one is even if he is a rescue! |
100 % percent Yorkie!! And a cute one at that! |
yorkies are not meant to be carbon copies of each other. variations are going to naturally occur no matter how pure the gene pool is. (having an extremely pure gene pool is not necessarily a good thing either) DNA is always changing and adapting. besides. bailey is ADORABLE. he looks 100% yorkie to me. |
He looks like 100% yorkie to me. |
Dog class. I have seen more than one vet shove his foot in mouth. I am sure he meant show standard, clearly not all dogs fit the show standard. It would great if every pup born in a litter was show quality and standard. That just isn’t the case. We are dealing with genetics as well as mother nature. The breed of any type is still a make up of their ancestors. We as breeders hope our skill and research of the lines we breed will take us in the right direction to produce the show dogs we want, but then there is nature. We can’t control that. There are different sizes, traits, color, features, stance, set, etc to any breed. For the most part a purebred dog looks to fit the bill but a breeder will tell you each one has their different looks. I always found it funny that others can’t tell my dogs apart when I clearly can. They see only the outer package and would need to see the dogs a great deal to learn the differences. Nothing will ever replace DNA testing when it comes to ensuring your purebred is a purebred. Pre pay with AKC is only $35 and you get the test results back in around 8 to 10 weeks. I have a female who carries the same traits as your pup and yes she is DNA tested. I have done a ton of research on her lines and found other dogs that show the same traits. Her brother born in the same litter does not have the same traits as her. He shows the traits of the father. The father is champion. Another bloodline of mine the female shows the traits of her father who is a champion. It is the combination of genetics that makes each dog, each dog won’t inherit the same genetic traits. That is what makes waiting for a new litter so stressful as well as a bit like Christmas, you never really know for sure what each pup will look like. Ears standing or falling can be either genetic or our fault. Genetic you won’t change (we try to breed out any flaws) our fault we can. Keeping their hair trimmed on the ears will keep the ear from being heavy and falling. |
I have no idea why people get upset with vets not being "experts on every breed of dog" ..... after all, aren't there some 160 or more different registered breeds. They aren't AKC judges. The are docors who specialize in the medical treatment of animals. My own vet has not been around a lot of different breeds very much and is the first one to admit that she learns something every day about many of them (from their owners). I'm not talking about learning more about their diseases and how to treat them --- but rather about the different breeds, themselves, etc. She told me personally that there are many breeds that she has never seen in her office. So - if your vet isn't a "Yorkie expert" --- you can change vets until you find one -- but really, what you should be looking for is a veternarian that is very good about taking care of and treating the many disease that our animals suffer from as well as the other care they need ----regardless of their breed. And - if you vet says something that you don't think is true about a Yorkie - share what you know with him/her. There is a lot that our vets can learn from us - after all, we are the ones who have little Yorkies for pets - which gives us the opportunity to know more about them than most people know. I would say he is 100% yorkie he looks it to me....and the reason i think ppl say mean stuff about others dogs is for the same reason ppl talk about other ppl , they are simply jeliouse...if you ever listen to ppl who constantly talk about others most of the time what they are saying comes back to how they are as a person....like the old saying goes misery loves company and that is true it sure does....so dont let others get you down by what they say they only wish thier furbaby was as pretty as your baily....he is a cutie and everyone here agrees so who cares what anyone else thinks lol.......*Hugs* to baily for having to hear such stuff as that lol |
Your boy is adorable and looks all yorkie to me too!!:) Don't let the vet's comment get you down. I am sure he did not mean to offend you, he just isn't very knowledgeable about yorkies. Someone once asked me if Nikko was mixed because of his coat. He has a very thick, wavy, cotton coat and this person said she had never seen a yorkie with hair like that. I started to get offended but in the end, it's not really offensive. She just didn't know. Before I came to YT, there was a lot I didn't know either. So don't take it to heart. You know you have a beautiful, loveable little boy who brings you lots of joy. Isn't that the most important thing?;) |
He looks all yorkie to me too! He is adorable. Yorkies come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. |
Well he wouldn't want to see my Tiffanie! She is bigger the U're standard AKC yorkee and her ears no matter how much hair I take off of them won't stand straight up like Theodore's! And 3 of her babies now at 1 month old has floopy ears and 1 has ears that stand up like Theodore's...And all 6 of mine are AKC...I wouldn't let what he say to U worry U...U should see all the people's faces when I tell them that Tiffanie is AKC and a Yorkee...Really it's funny to see their reaction...But no matter how big, little, curly, silky, wirey I love them all! Hugs, Lee |
I think he is absolutly adorable, mainly because he looks so much like my Bailey who is 12 pounds and all yorkie. His ears don't always stand up either usually just one. Regardless of what your rude vet says, could you love him less? |
Looks to me that he is one hundred percent Yorkie!! |
