Bailey is so adorable and he looks all yorkie to me. |
I vote for all yorkie. Bailey reminds me of my rugrats :) when they were small... Sammy is large for a yorkie, around 11.5 lbs and I know he is 100% fiesty yorkie...... |
Just because he is a vet doesn't mean he is a breed expert. THey don't learn breed standards in school. DOn't listen to him, not everyone is right. Question authority! |
oh the vet is being ridiculous. bailey is all yorkie, don't worry!! both mine are big with floppy ears and im SURE they dont meet any standards, but i know for a fact (akc papers and parents) that one of them is, and i'm darn positive the other one is even if he is a rescue! |
100 % percent Yorkie!! And a cute one at that! |
yorkies are not meant to be carbon copies of each other. variations are going to naturally occur no matter how pure the gene pool is. (having an extremely pure gene pool is not necessarily a good thing either) DNA is always changing and adapting. besides. bailey is ADORABLE. he looks 100% yorkie to me. |
He looks like 100% yorkie to me. |
Dog class. I have seen more than one vet shove his foot in mouth. I am sure he meant show standard, clearly not all dogs fit the show standard. It would great if every pup born in a litter was show quality and standard. That just isn’t the case. We are dealing with genetics as well as mother nature. The breed of any type is still a make up of their ancestors. We as breeders hope our skill and research of the lines we breed will take us in the right direction to produce the show dogs we want, but then there is nature. We can’t control that. There are different sizes, traits, color, features, stance, set, etc to any breed. For the most part a purebred dog looks to fit the bill but a breeder will tell you each one has their different looks. I always found it funny that others can’t tell my dogs apart when I clearly can. They see only the outer package and would need to see the dogs a great deal to learn the differences. Nothing will ever replace DNA testing when it comes to ensuring your purebred is a purebred. Pre pay with AKC is only $35 and you get the test results back in around 8 to 10 weeks. I have a female who carries the same traits as your pup and yes she is DNA tested. I have done a ton of research on her lines and found other dogs that show the same traits. Her brother born in the same litter does not have the same traits as her. He shows the traits of the father. The father is champion. Another bloodline of mine the female shows the traits of her father who is a champion. It is the combination of genetics that makes each dog, each dog won’t inherit the same genetic traits. That is what makes waiting for a new litter so stressful as well as a bit like Christmas, you never really know for sure what each pup will look like. Ears standing or falling can be either genetic or our fault. Genetic you won’t change (we try to breed out any flaws) our fault we can. Keeping their hair trimmed on the ears will keep the ear from being heavy and falling. |
I have no idea why people get upset with vets not being "experts on every breed of dog" ..... after all, aren't there some 160 or more different registered breeds. They aren't AKC judges. The are docors who specialize in the medical treatment of animals. My own vet has not been around a lot of different breeds very much and is the first one to admit that she learns something every day about many of them (from their owners). I'm not talking about learning more about their diseases and how to treat them --- but rather about the different breeds, themselves, etc. She told me personally that there are many breeds that she has never seen in her office. So - if your vet isn't a "Yorkie expert" --- you can change vets until you find one -- but really, what you should be looking for is a veternarian that is very good about taking care of and treating the many disease that our animals suffer from as well as the other care they need ----regardless of their breed. And - if you vet says something that you don't think is true about a Yorkie - share what you know with him/her. There is a lot that our vets can learn from us - after all, we are the ones who have little Yorkies for pets - which gives us the opportunity to know more about them than most people know. I would say he is 100% yorkie he looks it to me....and the reason i think ppl say mean stuff about others dogs is for the same reason ppl talk about other ppl , they are simply jeliouse...if you ever listen to ppl who constantly talk about others most of the time what they are saying comes back to how they are as a person....like the old saying goes misery loves company and that is true it sure does....so dont let others get you down by what they say they only wish thier furbaby was as pretty as your baily....he is a cutie and everyone here agrees so who cares what anyone else thinks lol.......*Hugs* to baily for having to hear such stuff as that lol |
Your boy is adorable and looks all yorkie to me too!!:) Don't let the vet's comment get you down. I am sure he did not mean to offend you, he just isn't very knowledgeable about yorkies. Someone once asked me if Nikko was mixed because of his coat. He has a very thick, wavy, cotton coat and this person said she had never seen a yorkie with hair like that. I started to get offended but in the end, it's not really offensive. She just didn't know. Before I came to YT, there was a lot I didn't know either. So don't take it to heart. You know you have a beautiful, loveable little boy who brings you lots of joy. Isn't that the most important thing?;) |
He looks all yorkie to me too! He is adorable. Yorkies come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. |
Well he wouldn't want to see my Tiffanie! She is bigger the U're standard AKC yorkee and her ears no matter how much hair I take off of them won't stand straight up like Theodore's! And 3 of her babies now at 1 month old has floopy ears and 1 has ears that stand up like Theodore's...And all 6 of mine are AKC...I wouldn't let what he say to U worry U...U should see all the people's faces when I tell them that Tiffanie is AKC and a Yorkee...Really it's funny to see their reaction...But no matter how big, little, curly, silky, wirey I love them all! Hugs, Lee |
I think he is absolutly adorable, mainly because he looks so much like my Bailey who is 12 pounds and all yorkie. His ears don't always stand up either usually just one. Regardless of what your rude vet says, could you love him less? |
Looks to me that he is one hundred percent Yorkie!! |
