Butchered!!!!
 

I took Brownie to the groomers this past weekend and I told them I wanted a puppy cut. She had a full length coat and now that it's nearing summertime, I thought I should take some off. Our temperature highs were in the 30's (celsius) this past week.

LOOK WHAT THEY DID TO HER!!!! :mad: :mad: :mad:

As soon as I took a look at her, I was mortified :eek: . I didn't know what to say. Usually, these people are really good and I have been going to them for over a year. They said, "Everyone's cutting their dog's hair like this". I told them this wasn't just anyone's dog, she was my baby.

Brownie was so upset she wouldn't even look at herself in the mirror. She whined all night, and I mean ALL NIGHT. I turn on the a/c at home and now she sits there shivering and so I have to put a light sweatshirt on her, which defeats the purpose of why I had her cut in the first place.

I asked her if she wanted to go to work with me today, which usually she races me to the door, but today, she hid under the sofa. I guess she's self-concious and wanted to stay home. Good thing I'm pet sitting my friend's chihuahua (Brownie hates her) and they can keep each other company.

Cute Cute Cute! I love short hair. So does my Edie. She thinks she looks just like Hallie Berry when her hair is short.

Don't worry--if you like it long I can promise it will grow back.

I know it will grow back, but I'm having a hard time because we have hard wood floors and Brownie is a whopping 3.5lbs and is REALLY tiny. Now, all I can see is her head floating around, can't even see her body, she kind of melts into the background :cry:

we had the same weird puppy cut last summer.:eek: i was shocked too. thank goodness it grew in quick.

i am so sorry that they did that, but it will grow and she will be as good as new. i have a story about humility. my son colby got his first and second hair cut and they put a bow in his hair and everyone called him gay and he was so embarrassed that he woulnt even come out of the bedroom.

Poor baby! They trimmed her hair too short on her body. One thing is for sure though, that beautiful face is still intact. She is so pretty. Sorry about your experience.:thumbup:

I can completely understand why you would be so upset! That's NOT a puppy cut! She shaved!

It still looks really cute if that's what you wanted and we all know it will grow back but...

I had the same thing happen to Jewel. I asked for 1" off and instead they left 1"! In hindsite, I think Jewel was very comfortable in the cut but when you go to pick them up and the shock of seeing you baby looking completely different from what you expected is very upsetting.

I learned my lesson and ALWAYS take a photo of how I want them cut since.

That is one of the worst "puppy cuts' I have seen. That groomer had no idea what they were doing, they shaved her body and left her head untouched, kinda looks like a lion cut. I took trixie in once and they did the opposite, they shaved her muzzle and cut her hair on the head really short and left the body long. So now aI always groom my babies myself, there are just too many bad groomers out there. I would like to say, even though they butchered your baby she is still gorgeous, not even a groomer could take that away from her!!! :) :) She looks kinda scared in the picture, poor girl. Don't worry it will grow back and although it is not your ideal cut that you had in mine, she is still adorable.

Almost sounds like they hurt her, or the cut was not a good experience in some way. When I get my guys cut, they don't seem to have a clue what it looks like themselves.

That is not a puppy cut that is a lion cut. I would find a new groomer. Chachi gets a puppy cut and his face s not that long. Also his body is not that short

That is way beyond a puppy cut. Who cares if everyone is doing it...that is not what you asked for. I know I wouldn't have paid for that. You could have done that yourself at home.

She looks ADORABLE !! Keep telling her how pretty she is and put some clothes on her - she'll grow to like it - I think LOTS of us had a groomer like that - I know I did !:D

Awww.. She still looks cute! Just means she just gets to wear a lot of cute clothes! :D

how can they think anyone would like such a short cut? i am sorry this happened but it will grow fast. agapito got butchered too last week but is growing again

I wish every Yorkie owner could be as lucky as we are. The groomer that we took Bailey to (only once so far, for a very light trim) has 5 Yorkies of her own and has pictures of them at the reception desk. She KNOWS how to do what you're asking for.

Your baby is really adorable!!! But you're right it does look kind of unbalanced. When I give Mitzi her summer cut I leave the hair on her legs longer and cut the face shorter. This way she looks more like a Schnauzer.

I experienced that once,, I was shocked too, but it was much cooler for him and I actually think I will do it this summer cause he gets so hot.
She is still adorable, it is just a shock to you,and takes some getting used to, I kept laughing at Bailey cause it made him look so skinny, it was funny.

Please let Brownie know she is still one gorgeous pup. Her hair will grow back and will eventually be the puppy cut you wanted for summer.

doesn't sound like it was a very good experience for her. I am willing to be the clippers was not introduced slowly. She will grow out quickly and you will love the brushing. Pamper her. She still looks like a beauty.

Thanks to all and words of niceness and encouragement. I'm giving her lots of hugs and kisses and this seems to help. I'm going to get her some nice summer dresses to wear and hopefully post some pics soon!!! :D

That's the summer cut, the puppy cut is different.
Princess gets the summer cut every summer because
of the heat. She's in the pool a lot, so I can dry her off really
fast too. I'm sure her coat will grow back a lot faster than you think.
But again, she looks great!:) :) :) :)

I completely sympathize. The same thing happened to Dolce a few weeks ago. She had a couple of big matts, and the groomer said she had to be shaved. It just broke my heart when I saw her, because her hair was so long and pretty. I think she looks like a bobble head now, with the hair on her head being so much longer, her head seems enormous. I'm starting to get used to it, but I put a dress on her when I take her out so she won't look so funny. It really does help. She really likes it because she's getting a break from brushing. So, there is an upside, plus it's cooler for the summer.

I am so sorry. Did they do anything to make it better in any way? That is not a lion cut. I am a dog groomer and do lion clips on my tuz all the time. If you were my customer I would have made sure to ask you questions to make sure I got it right. If you were unhappy I wouldn't have made you pay. I am so sorry there are some groomers out there that don't care. I am sure it will grow back soon.

:( This is the clip I gave my maltese. She is in a modified lion clip. What they did to your baby was a complete body shave and left the head. I would've been very upset if someone would've done that to my baby! I wouldn't have paid them for butchering my dog either!

Sounds to me like if she is hiding under furniture she might have had a bad experience at the groomers, did they hurt her maybe? Not beat her, but maybe were too rough with her? Cuz I don't think she'd know the difference in her hairstyle. My Maxx was hurt by a groomer when he was real little and that is why I groom all my yorkies (I have 3) myself. But she is so cute, even with the bad hair do!
