sooooooo my friends and i took baxxxter with us to swim in a creek in the middle of nowhere yesterday.

it was my first time going to this place and, though the place was beautiful, there were a lot of drunk rednecks everywhere. oh joy.

well my three guy friends, one female friend, and baxxxter were having a good time swimming and jumping off the cliff and whatnot. you guys should have seen him out there dog-paddling away. it was hilarious. when we picked him up out of the water he would still paddle at the air, it was adorable. and he'd climb up on my back and surf while i did the swimming for him. everyone was having a good time.

until,

we were getting ready to go and i walked upstream to clean baxxxter off in the shallow water and some drunk inbred guys were like "are you a fag?!?"

oh. sh*t.

"cuz yu gut wun uf thim thar fag dawgs."

"this aint no place fur f*ckin fags and fag dawgs."



i knew i was about to get lynched.

i wanted to be like -yeah i'm gay not because i own a small dog, but because my willy only stands up for boys, not that it should be any of your concern- BUT i know better than to open my mouth around these rednecks.

so i just turned around and went back to my friends and, luckily, 2 of the three of them are in the army and would protect me in a heartbeat.

we left shortly after the death threats started.

it just makes me so angry that people are so hateful. i can, somewhat, understand people not agreeing with me. i understand that it's part of people's religion, but i dont understand why i should be made to feel like i'm less than everyone else.

i'm not.

and further more, this wasnt even REALLY about my sexuality. i'm not flamboyant and the only thing that made them think i was gay was having a yorkie.

and having a yorkie shouldn't suggest anything about me, other than the fact that i like my dog or my dogs breed.

i do not feel the need to defend myself or my choice in dogs to anyone.

i'm sorry this just really got under my skin. it's not the first time though, nor the last.

Part of people's religion??? - I'm aware of what the bible says, but the bible also says judge not and we have all sinned, plain and simple. Sorry you're day was ruined.

So sorry you had the trouble. Some people are just plain jerks whether or not they are rednecks. I kid my hubby he is a redneck, but he is not like those you encountered.
My TN redneck is a 6 foot 300 lb gentleman who has fallen in love with Gypsy and is often seen cuddling her around others.
Hope it doesn't happen again!

Ugh, what planet are those idiots from?:mad: To assume a person is homosexual because they own a yorkie???:eek: Whether you are, or aren't is no one's business but your own and I am sorry those jerks decided to ruin what sounded like a nice day. to make assumptions because of what kind of dog someone has is just plain ignorant. But what is scarier is the gay bashers in the world. You were smart to get out of there. Drunks wouldn't care if someone is Gay or Straight at that point ...and you could have been hurt.

god, to judge a person by their dog (a cute one at that) is just mean! :mad: i could care less if your a gay, lesbian, or whatever! this is one of those cheesy things that people always say and you think is stupid but it really is true: all that maters is whats on the inside!

Sorry your day had to be ruined by such ignorance. You were right to leave tho...drunk + ignorant + more than one redneck = You Get Hurt. Hope your next outing is more fun for you.

Mikey - All of us have run across people like you mentioned.

People can be bad enough - but when they're drunk - they're even worse!

My advise (which you did) is just get yourself and your dog (children or whatever) away from them as soon as possible. And, certainly, don't ever say or do anything that might get them going even more.

Sorry you had a bad experience. But, it does sound like you otherwise had a great day!

Mikey I am sorry that you had a bad day today. I don't think that religion played a part at all in what they were saying but I do know ignorance did. Some people have too much time on their hands and worry about other people too much. Don't give them or anyone else the satisfaction of ruining your day....shake it off. They were probably bullied in school and just want to pick on someone now. You did the right thing by leaving let them live in their own misery and be closed minded.

I have to say how saddened I am by some peoples behavior towards others, and like another member said " mean people suck"
I'm just mortified that you were threatened and made to feel unsafe when you were just out having a wonderful time with your friends and little furbaby.
I am so sorry your day was cut short and you had to leave, Yet I'm so happy that you were not physically harmed during any of it.You did the right thing by leaving and staying safe.

BTW there are a lot of guys on YT that have yorkies. You don't have to have a pit bull to prove that you're a man.

Some men have to have big dogs to make up for what they are lacking elsewhere.

I'm sorry you had a rotten experience like that, Mikey. There are people in the world who are ignorant...who just don't understand, and heaven forbid you add alcohol and they're in numbers...the mob mentality always makes it worse.

You did the right thing by walking away. It would definitely be a no win situation if you even tried to defend yourself.

It sounds like Baxter had a great day, though, before this. He certainly lucked out to get a wonderful human companion like you!

You were right then and you are right this time. Jerks like that are sometimes better ignored. Don't let it bother you for a second. You are a much better man than any of them. And you proved it.

What an awful bunch of ignorant morons. Glad you're okay Mikey. For what it's worth, I think men who carry little dogs look much more masculine and sexy. My husband gets a lot more admiring glances when he's walking down the street carrying our little Badger than I do and he loves it!

A dear, very straight, male friend of mine has discovered the joy of yorks - they are utter babe magnets! (Obviously not something you need to worry about Mickey :p :D ).

I've lent Dixie (my sweet little girl wearing a pretty outfit) to my friend and within moments he was beating the girls off with a stick! So those rednecks did not know a good thing when they see it! :D ;) :D

And as for owning a yorkie and being gay....My husband and I are bikers...Eric is 6'2 and weighs 200 lbs..who do you think gets the first kiss when he comes home from work?? Not me!! We have one little furgirl and another one on the way!! He absolutely adores her...

Sorry your day was cut short. From what I have seen the crowd you were talking about is one of those groups that if you hadn't been there they would have picked out somone else to harrass.
I think that instead of checking age to buy alcohol they should check your stupidity level. The clerks could say " oh I'm sorry I can't sell you this you wouldn't be able to function like a human after a few". That policy may apply to buying firearms too, that would go along very well with the background check. Those salespeople woudl be telling people oh we're sorry you're just stupid enough to get someone killed or seriously injured. but those are the people who would bring a knife to a gunfight anyway.

Wow never thought some people can get SO ignorant. If they think masculinity is measured by the kind of dog one has or the dog's size it just shows how shallow they are.
I am so sorry you experienced such an incident.

Once I was very, very upset because some mean people like those rednecks insulted me and I ran crying to my grandmother. She asked me:" What do you think happens to a 200 year old oak tree if a dog pees on its trunk?" I said: "Nothing, I guess!" "Yeah, you're right! Absolutly nothing happens to the old oak tree. So, if somebody 'pees on your trunk' just imagine you are the old oak tree and nothing can upset you anymore." What a good advice that was!

Sorry you had that experience. It is to bad that you couldn't enjoy your day, but, leaving instead of arguing or worse made you the better person. It is really hard to tell if they had any brain cells left, if they were that drunk and obnoxious. Some people dont get it, and those of us that adore our Yorkies obviously know how special these little ones are. Way to go for handling the situation with cool. Stupid people make my heart sad,too.

I don't personally agree with being homosexual but i also don't judge people for it. I have gay and lesbian friends and they are some of the nicest down to earth people I know. I love them all and they are my best friends. I don't live that lifestlye thats my choice but others do and how dare someone ridicule someone else. I am sorry that you had to go through that, its disguting the way some people are. But just remember people are afraid of what they don't understand and most likely they were uneducated white trash!!! I think that anyone who can be themsleves and be proud of it are the kind of people I want to know and that I want in my life. Its sad that you had to leave and be chased away by ignorant people. Life is cruel but you seem like you have great friends that support you so good for you!!!

Mikey, I think you need to move to Jersey. We are REALLY accepting and gay-friendly here. :p I'm a teacher in High School, and soooo many kids come out of the closet now in the early years of HS because they feel accepted. ;)
