Does my Yorkie Look like a rat!! 1 Attachment(s) :mad: We were out for another lovely walk today--the sun shone,the sea was calm,there was little wind and Holly and her friend the foxy were having a ball! Most people we met were friendly and said Hello when Holly,being Miss social, ran up to say Hello! Why did one nasty horrible man spoil the afternoon by saying she looked like a little rat,not a dog! What could I have said in return??? I need a real smart comeback,as this has happened to me before! What do you think? |
I have been told that a few times. One guy at petsmart said,,, "what the hell is that?!?! That's not a dog, it's a rat!" I felt like punching him quare in the face but I just walked away and didn't say a word. I tell you people can be so rude! My husband was making fun of me because it really bothered me. But I get that way when it come to any of my kids fur and skin! |
If that's a rat, that's the cutest rat I've ever seen. :p No, I think it's ridiculous that, that man called your baby a rat. She's absolutely adorable! Ignore him, some people are just stupid. I think he needs to get his eyes checked. If anyone calls a Yorkie a rat, maybe they should check out their own reflection in the mirror. ;) |
She looks nothing like a rat. People have told me my yorkie looks like a rat and my reply is 'thank you so do you' |
Just try to not take it as a bad thing. I have a friend who admires my dog and she even wants a yorkie herself. She said that Brandy is so cute she reminds her of a little rat. She said that a couple times while she was petting her and oogling her. I think it has to do with their size and color. I have had friends own rats before and they would swear that they are as cute as puppies and kittens. To each their own. Just tell them, "Thanks for the compliment, I think rats are adorable too." Be proud of your little one. She is definately a cutie. Those people are just jealous and their parents should have taught them that if they can't say anything good, then don't say anything at all! |
It's just sad that some people have to profile themselfs with negative comments. Maybe you could say:" Now that you mention it... Maybe because one rat knows the other!?!" :D |
Holly is beautiful. Just ignore those idiots. If you feel like you have to say anything in their defense, just inform them that the American Kennel Club ranks Yorkies as the third-most popular breed of all. Behind goldens and labs. |

My dad calls most little dogs rats, but with Gypsy he said she was too little to be a rat so she must be a mouse. I said at least mice are cuter than rats. |
Tell that jerk he only WISHES he was that cute and loved.:D She's ADORABLE and you know he was just being mean - she looks nothing like any rat...she looks like a cute adorable little Yorkie and is probably far happier in her life than he is in his. |

Not even close! No way she looks like a rat! Next time someone says something like that ask them when is he last time they had their eyes checked! He obviously has a vision problem! Or just look them in the eye and say "If you can't say something nice, I would rather you not say anything at all." My own mother in law who lives next door and comes over all the time used to say to Oscar "You are one ugly dog!" Then she would say to me "He is so ugly!" I will admit, she hurt my feelings and you know what, I told her she hurt my feelings and that if she could not say something nice about him to keep her mouth shut. For awile when she would come over I would put Oscar in his crate. She finally quit talking like that about him. It was just plain rude and some people can just be that way. |
I haven't had "rat" but I did have a group of guys say "Hey look! She's walking a squirrel!" And they kept laughing and saying it over and over like it was the funniest thing ever. Our beautiful pups do not look like rodents! |
Seriously, Yorkies look nothing like rats! And I'm not just saying that because I have one. What that idiot probably means, it that it's not a "dog" (cuz all dogs are supposed to be big, right?) because it's the size of a rat. Maybe he has a p*nis complex. :rolleyes: :D So the next time someone says that call them a Rat Bast*rd! :p That hasn't happened to me yet...knock on wood...but if that day ever comes, God help them for saying that to me. I know I will be p*ssed, and something will just pop out of my mouth. I'm pretty good at insulting off the top of my head, under pressure. :D |

I'm really bad to let my mouth move faster than my brain. I say things all the time and am like :eek: shoulda just kept my mouth shut. I probably would have said ... and you look rude and ___ ( I would have found something wrong with them) but my parents taught me to keep things like that to myself. BTW she's adorable. |
First, She sooo looks nothing like a rat. My husband thinks Yogi looks like a gremlin. Which is fine, because I've seen that movie, and I thought they were cute:D ! I've had a couple people make comments like that about Yogi, when I'm walking him, like "look it's a guinea pig!!" or "he's not even a mouthful for my dog:eek: !" (the one that said that was walking his boxer.) and yes, some guy at a local campground asked me if Yogi was a rat. I was so infuriated, so I know exactly how you felt. I was so mad, that I couldn't even say anything in return. My husband said that the next time someone calls Yogi a rat, he's gonna tell them "well, by the looks of you, you have a lot of experience in that area.":D But mostly, most people just love him and I get a lot of compliments. So I just try to put the negative ones out of my head and thank God that I have him!! |
1 Attachment(s) Well my little Titan looked like a rat when he fell in the pool recently!:D I wouldn't take the comment too personally. I'm sure it was just a size comparison. Your baby is adorable. |

Oh Sandra, Holly is absolutley beautiful. I was thinking about her the other day. How is she doing? I wonder if it the same guy that said that to Ella once. :rolleyes: He said it to be 'cool' in front of his friends and I just ignored it. I think you get a lot of comments with them. Most positive but some people can be rude. I was walking Ella and must have looked a little nervous when a huge dog was comig towards us and the lady yelled out 'Don't worry he's had lunch' People can be funny. But don't worry she doesn't look anything like a rat!! I need to get a good comeback too!! I like the polite "thanks so do you!!" :D |

I think the person probably meant nothing by it whatsoever. He was just remarking about how little the dog is. I take out my Alaskan Malamute and everybody makes reference to a horse. She is very large and I've never thought they actually thought she looked like a horse. |
Whenever i take Daisy out theres always atleast one person that says she looks like a rat! I just ignore them im sure they dont mean any offence alot of people just say it because she is so small compared to the dogs they are used to seeing. Your baby is gorgeous and deffintely doesnt look like a rat! Dont take any notice! |

next time someone tells you, your baby looks like a rat. say to him/her: yah and you look like a rats ass, so that makes her look better than you. |
