For Boy: Top Knot Or Not I need advice. Parker goes to the groomer today to get ready for the big meet-up tomorrow. Do you guys keep your boys with a top knot or have them cut it with like bangs??? |
I keep Harley in bangs, put a topknot on him and he will stop at nothing to get it out!!! |
Dylan I am going to try to get Dylan (4 mths) use to wearing a top knot. I have put just the top knot in with no bow for a few hours each evening this week. At first he tries to paw it out but then forgets about it. His hair is barely long enough now but I figured if I waited until he was older he would really fight it. The challenging part is getting it in. I usually give him a really chewy treat and try to put it in quick. I will probably have to keep the rest of his coat short as it is so thin and poor that I at least want him to have some hair around his little head. How old is your little guy? |
I have no problem putting bows in Parkers hair. He doesnt take them out either, thats kind of what makes me think to keep the topknot. My hubby hates the bows. He said a boy shouldnt have bows in his hair. I've also had people call him a girl He will be dress like a boy and have in a blue bow and people will say she is soo cute. I say he's a boy, and they say, then why do you put a bow in his hair...I tell them because thats what you do with yorkies. hahaha |
Parker will be 5 month on Sunday. |
1 Attachment(s) My husband and sons would kill me if Mac had a topknot. I think Mac would kill me. He has his little boy cut. Mellie on the other hand is all girl with her long hair. Here's picture fresh from the groomer last Friday. |
A boy or a girl , I don't have a problem whith them having a bow . |
I get made fun of when I put bows in my Bailey. He still doesn't like them too much:confuse2:, they tell me I'm gonna make my Bailey baby Boy like boys...lol Harley *boy Chihuahua, however you spell* in our family, already humps Bailey when Gracie our girl looks onto them two like "I don't know you!":eyebrow2:. *as she gracefully trots away to tell on them* so precious...:hearts-xx :hearts6:Bailey bless him being the little (Ha 8 lbs already) 5 month old baby he is, bless him he just sits there and is like: :hands:"mommy please help me" :hands: he gives me this melting puppy precious face .. Love him, so Im still debating the little boy puppy cut, but Im gonna let him grow it first, then I will decide. :aimeeyork :love:Jessica:love: |
I just recently let his hair get long on top, tried to put it up... not happening. So he now has bangs.. I tried. |
Tank is all boy! No top not or pigtails for him...some days I wish he was a girl. The you better believe there'd be a bow in that hair. No top not for my macho man!:) |
Topknot!!! It took some time for Gus to get used to it, I started as soon as there was enough hair to gather for a topknot and he would do everything he could to try and get it off. But now it's nothing to him. I have put bows on him and he looks so cute. but my husband did point out that he is a boy and I agree, bow just dont go well with jerseys. |

:lol tears :lol tears :lol tears That is real funny Denise! |
My boy always wears a topknot and sometimes a bow (red or blue). I just got a new puppy and she was grabbing his pony tail so for now he's just been wearing it natural, but since it is fairly long it's not in his eyes. |
1 Attachment(s) Oscar wears a topknot as well! I love it! I don't think it's "girly", I think it's YORKIE! I just love the topknot! |
No topknots for Jaxon. He is ALL boy! I doubt he'd let me put one in, even if his hair was long enough. I like the little bangs on him. |
1 Attachment(s) I love top knots and bows on boys but daughter hates them and our boy dog is her dog. I snuck this one in Spike's when she wasn't home. I thought she'd like it once she saw it (it is a boy bow after all), but she thought it was awful. I've started doing bowless topknots and so far she's okay with it. So... my long answer to your question is, I vote for a topknot!:) |
1 Attachment(s) My boy wears a topknot, I like them in a full coat with topknot included, I guess I just like the show yorkie look, plus in my opinion you can see their beautiful faces alot better with a topknot than with bangs. I also put bows in his hair as well but only in blue. So I will always have yorkies with topknots regardless if they are a male or female. |
2 Attachment(s) I love the topknots but my husband says, his boy is not getting one so he has what we call in Scotland a fringe! I just trim it myself, my hairdresser gave me some tips LOL!!!!!!!Lottie however will be all girl and will have a topknot complete with... bow pink of course!!:aimeeyork |
Joey wears a top knot with a bow. He doesn't mind at all. He looks adorable. I did have him in bangs and now they are growing out. I like the top knot look better. The guys never say anything about it. I dare them LOLOL |
1 Attachment(s) brownie has bangs now but he use to wear them all the time :D |
4 Attachment(s) I love topknots and bows on boys! I even put red on my boys!!!! I don't think there is anything wrong with that! As long as they don't mind the topknot and bow, and they will keep it in, hey why not!!!! I get told that they shouldn't be in bows, but they love it! I am growing my boys hair out and I think its looks great!! here they are!!!! I just call them my little metros!!!!!! LMAO!!!!!!!! |
We totally Rock the Top Knot over here. BUT to make it sound a little less girly to my DH we call it a Sumo. I think it is so cute for yorkies to have little ponytails. I want a little girl so I can do pigtails!! Here are some pics of Mr. Keeley on his Dogster page, scroll down towards the bottom of the screen. www.dogster.com/?169319 |
3 Attachment(s) My Dennis always wears a topknot and bow and a shirt if it is chilly. :) |
No topknots here. I hate them on boys and the first time I took Nikko to the groomer she put a topknot on him with a little blue bow. Ugh!! If I had wanted a girl dog I would have bought one instead of Nikko!! Needless to say it came right off. However, I think the girls look adorable in them, especially with the pretty bows. |
I'm keeping the top knot. It just looks too cute. thanks everyone for your advice. |
I love the topknot boy or girl. My last male Zorro always had a bow in but they were manly colors. I'm glad your keeping it!! |

Not!:d |
topknot 1 Attachment(s) Well, my family was all against the topknot until Topher came back from the groomer's the other day. He looks so cute in it. I draw the line at bows, though, and just use a small elastic type thingy. It's not too girly. He can see, too, which must be nice for him. My groomer suggested that we keep the head hair long as it's easier in the long run and we don't have to keep trimming it. I agree with that. I think the boys look so darned cute either way, but I'm going to keep the topknot, personally. It's a bit hard to see in this photo (the hair is still pretty short), but it's nice to see his eyes for a change! His bangs will take a few more months to be long enough to tie back. |
