I think while i loved my baby i would be asking for a partial refund, by their responce it sounds like they knew about this and were trying to hide it. Its just me but i wouldn't have paid $950 for a mixed breed there are tons of those at the spca you were paying for what you thought was a pure bred, you said he had papers can you report her if she isnt willing to give you a partial refund? |
Max weighs 16 lb and Sam weighs 12 lb. MY boys aren't "fat" either. They are admired by all. The Yorkie is a mixed terrier, and it's people who have interfered with nature, to make the smaller breed. Just like people, who look genetically like their ancestors, it's not surprising that there all larger Yorkies. The smaller of the Yorkshire Terriers, are refered to as "runts". I know of quite a few larger Yorkies. |
"it's not surprising that there all larger Yorkies". it's not surprising that there ARE larger Yorkies. |
Mutant - no way! Hi there! I also have a very large full breed Yorkie - 28lbs to be exact! He is chipped and has papers! His is appropriately named Leo - as he thinks the world revolves around him! Fabulous dog, I must say! I was told he was the "runt" too before I took him from a client of mine and he was discounted because of him being the runt.... but how funny as Leo is huge! Funny thing is - I saw two more in a neighborhood I was looking at for homes... and mind you - their dogs were also full breed... I am doing a search for myself to find out more... Pamela |
Hi Pamela, Welcome to YorkieTalk! I would love to see pictures of Leo. I bet he is a real cutie. |
My Gus is a solid 10 lbs - and Gabe before him never got above 5! |
suki is 8 months and already she is 4.8 kg or more than 10 lbs...we love her juz the same and we couldn't be happier. the bigger they are the more love you have :D |
Wow what beautiful dogs and so big. My Schmoo is a Yorkie crossed with aYorkiex Cairn. he looks like pure Yorkie to me but is a bit leggier. Funny his sister looks like Toto (Wizard of OZ) just smaller. I think the Cairn that was in her Mummy has come out in her. Poor thing has no undercoat like Yorkies so feels the cold in winter. Still have lots of coats for her :o):animal-pa |
oh a larger yorkie would be awesome! i do wish there were more for sale, or adoption. |
I've heard that there are larger Yorkies to be found in shelters because the owners thought they were buying a "teacup" but their puppy grew larger than they wanted so they just got rid of them (shallow people!). I myself didn't find any Yorkies in a shelter when I was looking for one, but I live in a rural area, the shelters here get a lot of lab mixes. |

my yorkie poo is a good size.. .not too small not too big, lol. i like that he's a bit sturdier, so he can handle the toddler a little better. i'm from cleveland, and petfinder seems to have a good amount of shelter yorkie pups for sale, and yorkie grown ups too... but when i was looking, so many of them had lots of emotional problems from being bred or born at puppy mills. poor things. i couldn't really look into getting a special needs dog, as i'm so new at owning dogs, and have small kids. |
My dad's yorkie, Lewie, is about 20 pounds. It's crazy :) |
I breed Yorkies,:) and every litter I have I get one huge puppy. Our vet said they are throw backs, from way back, before they bred them down to the smaller size. :aimeeyorkThe first time I saw one of them full grown I was shocked. Luckily the lady didn't care and loved her Yorkie anyways. But I was still shocked, as my female is about 11 lbs and my male is about 9 lbs. |
