Nightmare Morning I am devastated. My son's fiance is a dog groomer. SHe is the most fabulous groomer in the world, unfortunately she lives 5 hours away. Since I haven't been able to have my two little 8 month old girls groomed since January, I had no choice but to go to the local groomer, which came highly recommended by neighbors. SHE SHAVED DOWN MY GIRLS!!!!!!! I'm talking shaved down. I cried all the way home and am still crying........ They are so horrible looking. I explained what I wanted before dropping them off and was given nods and okay and came back to shaved dogs. They have no fur. They look like Jack Russells. So......how long will it take for them to look normal again. I just can't believe it. Sorry if this rambles, I'm just devastated. :( |
Sorry to hear that, I had a groomer do that same thing to my Springer Spaniel. The good news is that it'll grow back!!:D |
OH my! Yikes! I hate hearing this. I won't take long for them to get long enough to look normal. If it makes you feel better, I came home from work one afternoon and found my husband giving our yorkie a homemade haircut!!!! He said that he did not see any sense in spending money at the groomers when he could do it himself. Hobbs looked SO funny. I just had to laugh. Look on the bright side, consider your girls having a "summer" haircut! They will be nice and cool this summer, and by the time their coat gets longer, it will be winter time again!!!!!!!! Who knows, you may grow to like it. |
I am sorry that happened to you. Their hair will be grown back out in about 3 or 4 months. |
I'm sorry that you are upset. Post some pictures, I bet they are adorable. Oh BTW Welcome to YT. We've seen it all lon here. |
Sorry, to hear about your experience. A Yorkie's hair grows about 3/4 inch a month. |
How horrible! I hope that you didn't have to pay for those services! Hang in there. It WILL grow back...just takes times.:( |
I am soo sorry. But it will grow back. It may take a few monthes, but it will. My ex groomer did that to my Luigi and he looked like a chiahua for about 2 monthes! After I got over being upset, I would look at him and just laugh and smile! Here is a pic of him of it will make you feel any better! She didn't cut Brasco quite as short, but he was really short too. http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...t=luigi334.jpg But here they are after about 4 monthes of growing! http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...omigday004.jpg So sorry you are upset, but trust me...it will grow back!!!! And welcome to YT!!!!!!! |
That's terible! What don't they understand when you tell them you DON'T want them shaved. I have only had Cali groomed 2 times in the 8 1/2 months that I have had her and the groomer use to own and show Yorkies so she knows I am growing her out. When Cali had surgery a few months ago the shaved her a lot and chopped off her hair on the sides. It does grow pretty quick so try and enjoy the no grooming for awhile. |
Oh I am so sorry for you! I had a groomer do the exact same thing to Gracie and I really feel your pain. Like everyone else has already said, it will grow out. In the meantime, dresses help a lot! |
It seems to me that you almost have to know what "blade" you want your groomer to use... so they don't go crazy with the cuts. You'll have to wait a few months, but your two little girls hair will grow back. Hopefully you can find a groomer you trust... (sometimes it takes time.. and a few "not quite right" haircuts). Best of luck with your new chihuahuas (just kidding!!:D ). |
So sorry I am so sorry 2 hear this. Unfortunately I have no clue on this, so I am sorry again...The thing I do know is thAT UR BABY IS STILL BEAUTIFUL NO MATTER WHAT....So I would not worry to much if I was you....Atleast u have a healthy baby that loves u and u love very much.....So who cares about some hair cut...Right?????? |

I had a similar experience this weekend, and I even had my fiance' take a picture with him to the groomers. Georgie looks something like Luigi now just more full in the face. I just call him my naked little boy. It's chilly today so he hasn't been outside much poor baby. |
I am sooo sorry about your experience I feel your pain. Georgie went on Saturday and looks naked now!!! I am going to either go to someone else or take him back in a month and just show her how I want him to look. I think it will take a month or so for him to have the cut I want. |
i am so SORRY to hear that!!! the same thing happen to Sebastian. I was SO UPSET!!! The groomer took notes, we talked for about 10 minutes, I went to get him and he didn't even look like my dog. I CRIED!!! I was mad at myself for even paying her. I know drive 30 minutes each way to my groomer and its woth it. Chin up, the good news is it grows back. BIG HUG!! |
Many Thanks Thank you for all the words of encouragement. I still can't believe it when I look at them. Tori had thinner fur, and she keeps looking at me with big sad eyes, as if to say "what have you done with my coat?". I know it will grow back but it was a real shock. I will have my husband download a pic. They are still so precious to me, but I just feel that they blame me. I told my husband, they've had more treats today then they usually get in a week. Thanks again for the pictures that you logged and the kind words. All three of us needed them today. Sonya, Tori, and Autumn |
I once had a golden and I took her to get groomed and I said DO NOT shave her. I come to pick her up and yep she was shaved. I asked her about it and she said I didn't shave her I just cut her, yeah right!! It is so hard to find a good groomer and there are so many bad groomers. |
I'm so sorry to hear you had a bad experience with a groomer. Sure do see lots of horror stories when it comes to groomers. To bad we can't stand there and watch to make sure they don't screw up! Hope your babies grow their hair back fast! At least with summer coming, they'll be cooler, huh? Hugs to you!!! |
I have a Bichon and a Yorkie --- and believe me -- a Bichon is a much more complicated grooming problem than a Yorkie can ever be. And -- over the years, I have had every grooming result imaginable. My attitude is that anyway my dog(s) are ever groomed is "not the end of the world." Most of the time, I am happy with the way they are groomed and other times, I think they look pretty "pitiful," and wait for them to grow out and start over again. But - life goes on - it is not the end of the world!!! Hair grows back!!! With luck - if you keep searching - you'll find the groomer that grooms your dog perfect every time!!! I don't know why everyone is always so upset about the way their dogs are groomed. They are still the same dog and are precious and lovely and loveable regardless of how their hair has been cut. Some of my favorite pictures of my Bichon are the times he got the "worst haircut in the world." Believe me, he could have cared less - it was me that was disappointed. You really just need to find a groomer that cuts your dog the way you want him to be. And, don't we all know that no dog has so as many different styles and different haircuts as the little Yorkie. I have more important things in life to worry than how my Yorkie is groomed. Regardless of his haircut, he always comes home - clean, happy, smelling good, and feeling good about himself. And, he's especially happy about just getting home and back to normal. And, I have had a "few bad haircuts myself - haven't you??" Again - just find a groomer that you are happy with.....and, sometimes this takes a while. Carol Jean |
What about treating him to a very manly sweatshirt or sweater to wear until it groes back some...poor thing must feel naked!!! Same thing happened to me several times. Our big boy is a bichon/poodle mix and one groomer cut him like a show poodle. My kids couldn't stop laughing and I was embarrassed to take him for walks! My hubby said we should change his name to Liberace..lol! No offense to show poodles out there. |
When Harley was a baby i had him shaved down and to tell you the truth i think his hair grew back much nicer, his puppy hair even tho you brush it all the time had knots underneath that i just couldn't get out, and now my little hair has the same puppy fuzzy hair, i even use conditioner on them they get weekly bathes but you can't stop the knots, there both getting shaved tonight when the groomer comes, cause summer time is here and the 90 days are right around the corner and i don't want them to be hot. Wait to you see how pretty there coate comes back in... |
I feel your pain. OMG, the same thing happened to Baxter 6 weeks ago. He was in for a puppy cut and came out looking like a shnauzer(sp). I said just a puupy cut to make his coat grow in nicely. It was awful. He had to wear a tshirt out cuz he got cold. But now 6 weeks later, he is looking better. The groomer called and he goes back today. Only for a bath and a ear hair cut. He had such cute bangs that could be put up, now they are starting to grow back. The only happy ending is that they do grow back. |
