Too impersonable I would bet this is a scam and even if it isn't, it sounds very cold and impersonable. What kind of condition is a pup coming from someone who sounds the way he does going to be in? Money, Money... thats all he cares about, not health and happiness. RUN! The perfect baby is waiting for you somewhere. Kaitlyn :thumbdown [/I]Bruno :animal-pa :animal-pa |
Western Union... is a red flag. This is a scam! Gee, it's unreal to what lengths these people will go to for a $$$. |

This is a scam. Scammers put up several items for sale ranging from animals to electronic equipment and only accept Western Union because once it is wired and the money picked up there is nothing you can do about it. To prove this, tell the seller that you will use one of the escrow services to pay for the animal. An escrow service is a third party that you pay. They hold the funds until you receive the animal (or other product) and give them the OK to release the funds to the seller. If this is a scam the seller will not agree to this... |
Looks like a scam, I would see if you have a breeder near you, If not try and find someone to go look at a puppy before you send any money. It's sad there are so many scammers out there. Plese be careful :) :) :) |
It's a scam, all the way to the Western Union "Bank." |
It sounds to me like he just wants your money to be honest...just be careful...if in doubt, just dont do it.... Claire |
This definitely sounds like a scam. I wouldn't even bother doing any research on this one. Just the mention of Western Union should stop you from reading the ad. To check others out, you can go to a site called www.reversephonedirectory.com and put in a number (or address) and it will give you a name and address. Once you get an address you can do a search with the County Tax Records and it will tell you who owns the house and when they purchased it. If they rent, you could contact the landlord with this information and ask some questions. I know when I check myself out, my name and address appear with my phone number and it's not a cell phone and the property tax roll shows that I have owned my house since 1990. Even when it's not a scam you are definitely better buying local or physically going to pick up the puppy. |
"If in doubt, DON'T!" "Better safe than sorry!" Can't think of any more clichés, but I think they do apply here- Vix xxx |
YOU'VE got over 40 Posts telling you its a "SCAM". WE ALL CAN'T BE WRONG, you asked for advice, you got it :warning: |
It is a scam!!!!! NEVER send western union to someone for a puppy. It is a popular thing that scam artist do. I seen a big article about it. PLEASE DONT DO IT!!!!! you will lose your money. (I promise that) |
Thank you all so much for your advice. As tempting as it is, even if it was not a scam, I am definately not doing it. I got my Lucy in January and would not trade her for the world. I will find a breeder near me so that I can make sure the puppies are well cared for. I do not want to indirectly fund a puppymill or anything else, where the puppies are not well taken care of, if there are even puupies available from this person. Thank you all so much for your advice, help, and research. I really appreciate it. I just wish there was more that I could do so that someone else does not get taken! Again, thank you all so much! I knew I could count on you! |
Alhambra is not in the 619 area code. That is near San Diego. It is definately a scam. |

I replied to 1 ad and it was a scam after that I got more and more emails different names and numbers but all the same thing. one of them did say to pay for the puppy through a third party THIER third party turns out the third party name they gave me had the same number as one of the other emails I got saying they had a puppy for sale. it's terrible but you have to be soo careful getting anything over the internet. I went through delta when I got my neo and I paid shipping directly to delta. The breeder took him and got everything set up and called me with the info and gave me like a reservation number and I paid Delta directly I paid for the pup through paypal. it made me feel better I knew even if the pup didnt' show up that I was getting my money back for shipping and the money for him was insured through paypal. |

Beware of an ad on the puppy websites claiming to be adopting Yorkie puppies for $200 plus $90 shipping. She says her name is Cindy Preston and claims to be in Riverdale Georgia. Ask for a copy of her driver’s license and she will give you some lame excuse of being too busy. She will actually give you a New York phone number which obviously transfers you somewhere else, probably India or Moscow. The number she gives is 516-714-3194 and is registered to what appears to be a Pakistani name. She requires payment in advance through Moneygram and even promises to meet you half way with the puppy. If you want it delivered it will come to your door through American Airlines. They do not do door to door. Her writing is poor with type-O’s and bad grammar. I have reported her to Feds and the Texas Attorney General’s office. Avoid anything similar to this scam. |

Hello fellow Austinite! :) Thanks for the info! You posted this on an old thread, perhaps you may want to start a new one. |

Definately sound HINKY to me. |
Yes, this is a scam. Western Union is the scammer's preferred payment method because once the money is sent, you have no recourse and you will be out the money you have sent. Anyone interested in a Yorkie, please check with your local shelters or rescues. There are numerous animals of all breeds and ages there and many have been dropped off because their owners think they can no longer care for them financially... |

This thread is 4 years old. |
I took your advice and created a new thread. Funny how the same scam is still going on. |

WESTERN UNION NEVER SEND MONEY to any one this way no matter how good it sounds - you have no recourse. I didn't even read rest of the ad once I saw that |

Strange. I posted my Beware of Yorkie Scam as a new thread but it still hasn't shown up. Wonder of an administrator is holding it because I am a new member? |

And let's not forget the old saying: "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is." Good Luck! |
