Give me your HONEST opinion please!
 

On sunday we took the girls to the park, they were running around enjoying themselves " unleashed" in an area where dog's are allowed to run free till May 1st. I saw this woman laying on the grass, now its NOT a pic-nic place, for people, it's FOR DOGS to swim and run, we take them there almost every sunday for an hour because they love it. Next thing Chelsey walks past this woman and says "hello" ok... she is too friendly and will greet any stranger, so this woman said "keep the dog with you" politely i said sorry to this person and called Chelsey back and kept her with us. This friggin woman keeps staring at me! In a rude way i asked WHAT THE FRIGGIN H*LL SHE WANTS?! Ok that wasnt nice of me, but geeezzz my dog's stayed far away from her, anyhow, up she gets and off she goes. I told my husband "GOOD RIDDENS"

Next thing, there's a elderly man & woman riding past us on their bikes, when i heard this woman say, while she's looking/pointing at Chanel she says " that looks like a RAT" OMG i was angry and shouted " if you wanna see a RAT, look at YOURSELF in the mirror" i realize i shouldnt have said that because it's rude, but i was SO MAD i couldnt help myself! My husband looked at me and packed out laughing and said, don't get yourself worked up like that over some silly people! I was like, NO 1 calls my baby a rat, how dare they??

Now i know, if i ask my family or friends their opinion, they will tell me she is beautiful, so i am now asking you guys, does Chanel look anything like a rat??
Like any mother, i think my child is beautiful... i'm madly in love with my girls and i don't care if they are ugly or cute, i love them as is they were my very own kids.
I just couldnt get this episode off my mind!

Vent away. I'm on your side totally. In a dog park, dogs have the rights. If this woman didn't want a dog near her, she shouldn't be in a dog park. At many dog parks, you only need to have a leash with you - not necessarily on the dog.

Your Chanel definitely DOES NOT LOOK LIKE A RAT!! She is beautiful. I feel the same way about my little baby, but family members who are not fond of dogs say she looks like a rat also - see her photo. Rats are NOT cute animals, nor do they even resemble a yorkie. Some people are just rude by nature and no amount of chastizing will change them, it will only anger you further to resort to their level of unkindness. I know it stings, but try to brush it off.

People say that sometimes about Bailey, it goes with a having a small dog... It doesn't phase me,, most of em are jealous,,and WISH they had such a dog...

She is cute she doesnt look like a rat. That was just a rude comment. Some people dont like small dogs like ours and make rude comments. I just ignore them.

Your baby does not look like a rat! She is a cutie!!! Don't let them get to you like that! Shrug them off and keep on smiling...kill them with kindness!

Good for you, sticking up for your puppy. Like others have said, these are just jealous. If their not jealous then that means there just non animal-friendly people and they don't deserve our time..... I admit I have seen a lot of dogs that I did not care for the look of the animal, but I am always friendly with the dog and owners. You never know how the owner sees their pup... (example : We had a minature, long hair, dapple dauchsund. To me, my mom and step-dad he was the cutest dog alive. The funny thing is that everyone in our family just thought he was so ugly that he was cute... We just thought they were crazy, but really they jsut didn't like the look of our pup.)

I think your baby is very pretty! :aimeeyork Some people are just idiots!! I think some people who prefer large dogs say that because of the size not because they physically look like a rat.

I am totally offended for you!! :mad: How dare that woman say your baby looks like a rat!! I am from NYC and have seen the sewer rats in the subway station. Those are the most disgusting looking creatures on the face of the earth. Your pup is absolutely precious and that woman was way out of line. But I agree with most people on here. She was probably just jealous of your dog and called her a rat due to her size not look. Don't let anyone take your joy and ruin your day. In the end, you go home with a loving husband and precious little dog and she gets to go home and look at her "rat face" in the mirror!! ;)

your baby is beautiful what a nasty person, i had a similiar thing happen in my own home a guest was ignoring my dogs when ever he came in and as you can imagine they made him look at them come hell or high water, he proceeded to insult them by calling them wicked names like rats and looking at them as though they were something off the bottom of his shoe needless to say he has not returned to my home since need i say more as to my reaction ,its there home and if folks do not like then they can get lost!

She is a very pretty Yorkie. She doesn't resemble a rat in any way! She has a very pretty coloring and a very pretty, expressive face. I always say people are just jealous or why would they bother saying anything at all! It is amazing no one whould ever go up to a person pushing a baby and say your kid looks like a rat or ugly etc.!

A few people have said that my dog looks like a rat. It doesn't bother me at all.

If she is a rat I hope I get a huge infestation very soon! She is so adorable. Only thing I can think of, did you say there was water? If yorkies get all wet, well, it does change their appearance a bit! Don't listen to other people you know she's beautiful, they are just clueless!

People like that are the kind you teach your little Yorkies not to go near. How dare they insult you and your pup. I would have reacted the same way. You did good! You not only stood up for your own baby but for all of our little ones as well. Thank you! :)

I,personally, find Rats very cute. They're very clean, they learn their names and tricks, they don't bite, and they love to cuddle. NO, I'm not dreaming. This is all fact, I have worked with them for the past nearly three years and have had to educate people about them. But It is wrong for anyone to call your baby that. She's adorable.

I would have said "NO, IT'S A YORKIE. GET IT STRAIGHT AND GET A BETTER EYE DOCTOR."

AND just to clarify. There is a huge difference between sewer rats and domesicated rats. Yes they're generally the same animal, but the domesticated rats are bred to be smaller in size and more tolerant, tidy and enjoyable then say sewer rats that are usually bigger, uglier, and just plain out are gross.

If anyone ever asks me what makes a great first pet for a child I ALWAYS say a rat, a mouse or a guinea pig. My reason is Hamster, dwarf hamsters and gerbils all bite VERY hard and they don't let go right away and draw blood most of the time, unless they are consistently handled, and with gerbils they run really fast and if you pick them up by their tails they can actually disengage their hair sheath and you'll be left only holding the hair from their tail and they'll be in their cage with a bloody tail. Mice, rats and guinea pigs all live a long time, don't bite(but can), are generally clean, and they enjoy handling and love to cuddle.

nope she looks like a yorkie to me..I didn't see a tail resembling a rat..no beady eyes resembling a rat..she has too much fur to be a rat ..no pointy nose..i didn't see any whiskers..so nope i'd say she's a yorkie lol..and a very pretty one at that..

She is beautiful, don't let the ignorance of others get to you. I know it is hard, I get some pretty nasty comments from the friends of my 12 year old son, when they come over to play. I guess with adults speaking the way they did to you, it's no wonder these kids have no respect or common manners. I always tell them, that if he displeases them , that the door opens easily and I'm sure they will have no problem finding their way out. :animal37

:) :) She doesn't look anything like a rat, she's beautiful. My daughter always calls Gypsy a little rat dog, but I think it's kind of an endearment cause she really likes Gypsy. Come to think of it I've heard yorkies referred to as little rat dogs quite frequently, maybe it's because they're so small? I don't think Gypsy looks like a rat, lol. Do you?

First of all, I wish that lady laying in the grass would have accidently rolled over on poop, who lays in the grass at a dogpark? That is just gross!
Second, That elderly lady was just plain rude if she meant to say that she looked like a rat. Maybe she meant to say that she looks like a mouse? She is cute and little! I love her colors!

Your baby doesn't look like any other rats I've seen. She is GORGEOUS. Some people are just idiots -- plain and simple.

I also get upset when people refer to Yorkies as rats. I've heard that time and time again and to me, there is nothing more disgusting than a rat and there is NO comparison to a darling little yorkie! Chanel is gorgeous and I'm glad you told that old bitty to look in the mirror!

My boss loves to tease me about Max by calling him a rat. He does it just to get under my skin. I don't let it bother me. I know my baby is beautiful.

Chanel is gorgeous and I would love to have a little girl yorkie just like her! Ahh...maybe one day!!!!
