Will someone please explain the FREAKING FASCINATION OF YORKIES WITH TOILET PAPER?????????? I'm about to pull out all of my hair. I shut the bathroom door this morning before we left and low and behold...come home for lunch and someone...probably Rebel...nudged his way into the bathroom and helped himself to the trash can. So what...I guess he like snotty tissue but it's disgusting and it grosses me out!!!!!!!! Does anyone have a yorkie that has done this and you've managed to break them of the habit??? IT'S DRIVING ME NUTS!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!! |
Can't help you there. Toilet paper, paper towels, napkins....any and all are fair game at my house....taking it away is a struggle too. Going outside at work is a trash bonazza for Ramsey too....pickin' up this place...one piece at a time  |
sorry can't help with toilet paper, mine like to take your underwear and bra's when your in the shower and when you get out, you have to hunt for them  |
I'm going nuts with Coco having fun with the padding under the carpet. Every once in a while she wants to rip the padding from the corner of the carpet and chew up the carpet. This morning I put deodorant allllll over the corners and sides of my carpet at my apartment. That's why she doesn't get run of the house. I gave it to her for a week and I kept coming home to carpet padding all over the house. |

When you figure it out let me know! Bc my girls go crazy for anykind of paper product! |
You know, it's not like they eat it they just drag it EVERYWHERE! I empty the trash at least 3 times a week but it's insane! |
Studies have shown that there is a propensity for dogs of the small breed (especially Yorkies) to have an appetite for toilet paper due to the highly fragrant nature of said paper, even when the paper is brand new and unused. While some Yorkies may have gynotikolobomassophilia, almost all Yorkies will have this tendency to find toilet paper and completely destroy it. Such Yorkies may be found guilty of such behavior by their parents due to the fact that they leave bits of toilet paper evidence in their mouths at the time of being caught. It is a natural behavior and one that is not learned, but innate. The term for this phenomenon is: teepeeradicophilia |
again i can't help....underneath my bed is the hiding spot for all my toliet paper |

Dezi does the same thing, she sticks her little paw in the trash can and pulls out tissues and toilet paper. I have to empty it out everyday. She also takes underwear, t-shirts and pj's while you are in the shower. I find everything underneath my bed. :animal-pa |
Diva is constantly searching for paper of any kind. I was going to post something asking about the underwear thing. Diva will be busy chewing on something in the living room but as soon as I step foot in the bathroom she comes running in to see if I am going to take a shower. The minute I take off my underwear she is fighting me for it. I try to bury it under my bathrobe and a towle but she will dig for it and then take it out into the living room. She even goes into my roommates room and takes her underwear. I come home from work to be welcomed by panties on the living room floor! I just don't get it!! |
mine do it also. they get tissue out of the trash can, paper towels, and undies. if you are low on undies check the under bed stash that they have made. |
Okay, so obviously there is an undeniably strong attraction to TP going on, lol. Instead of getting mad when she’s been in the trash, I pretend I don’t even care and start playing with another one of her toys (one that makes noise to get her attention). Then when she comes over to play I grab the TP. I’ve found the more upset I get, chasing her around the house for it, the more she will fight for it, or worse, run under the bed. |

Parker loves loves loves toliet paper. He totally shreads it. He gets so excited when the bathroom door is open and he gets to it before we do. I'm potty training him and should probably give him toliet paper after he potties instead of a cherrio. hahaha!!!! |
TxHopper -- Calm down! I don't think there aren't any of us who have ever had a puppy (or dog) that hasn't gone through the toilet paper or other paper bit with them. For some reason - dogs just love to tear paper apart. I think it's because it's so soft and easy to tear. But, anyway they love it. I probably have to clean up paper - toilet paper - and paper from every wastebasket in my house at least twice a week. It's the price we pay.....it is thoroughly a "dog thing." And, believe me - this is actually one of the "cleanest messes" they make. It's just paper! Carol Jean |

Holy smokes!! you guys shoulda seen my house the other day. I had shredded a ton of stuff and forgot to take the huge trash bag out. It looked like it had snowed all over my place. There wasn't a spot that didn't have paper on it, in it, or under it. |
Mine is addicted to kleenex tissue rather than toilet paper, but I could see that it would be an easy jump to toilet paper with them! It's so bad, that when I had a upper respiratory thing that turn into an infection -- well, let's just say I was taking some medicine that knocked me out. So I'd be lying there, passed out with a kleenex clutched in my hand. . . and the kids thought it was sooo hilarious that Rhapsody and Tiger both would sneak up on me and steal the kleenex right out of my hand!!! Now they go straight for pulling them out of the box. We have to be strategic on where we leave kleenex boxes, lol! |
