I am upset,i got her from a family friend,where i know Gypsy-Roses' mother and father. I dont like being told that it isnt possible for Gypsy-Rose to be a yorkie,just because she has a coarse coat.I cant wait until she is a bit bigger and her hair grows,im going to invest in some good products.I would just like to say that i have 3 other yorkies,and have been brought up with yorkies all my life,so i am not completeley clueless,thanks to everyone for the nice comments and advice :D

I dont know why someone would question if your dog was pure bred or not when you werent even asking about that. :thumbdown You pup looks all yorkie to me and yes cotton coats are common so dont worry about those uncalled for remarks.

To be honest, I thought those remarks were unnecessarily dismissive and a bit rude. You can't determine the bloodline of a puppy from a couple of photos so making off the cuff remarks like that is a bit uncalled for. And UK registration papers are taken very seriously here. No offense like, but it's often commented on here how easy it is to kennel register in the States. That is not the case here and the breeder's reputation would be shot to hell if she was offering mixed pups. In any event, don't worry hun - she looks 100% Yorkie to me, just that her coat is growing slower probably. I've also heard that the coat changes over time and that it grows better when it's cut or shaved. It also makes sense that because her hair is shorter, her markings are lighter. Badger has got very similar colouring and his hair has grown very slow I think by comparison to other Yorkies I know. Also... I've just looked closely at his legs and his hair is very cottony at the roots and then silkier towards the ends. It's just that her hair is short :) . Anyway... I think she's gorgeous! She's got the prettiest face and she doesn't look coarse to me judging from those photos to be honest. She certainly has the most beautiful eyes!

It's really hard to tell how someone means something when you don't know the person and are only 'reading' their thoughts. I am sorry your feelings were hurt, but feel that maybe the other persons feelings were hurt too when they were only trying to be helpful. My mom has a papered Maltese and both parents are papered; however, this maltese looks like it has poodle in it, but who really cares.

My granddaughter and I both got our Yorkies about October of last year. They were both 12 weeks old. They looked totally different and still do.
People would ask Tori at the time if hers was a purebred. He was much bigger than mine and had much shorter and coarser hair.
They are both 8 months old now and still look different but both beautiful.
Jasmine (mine) is 5 lbs with very fine silky hair that is about 1/2 way down to the floor. She is gold and silver now. Her hair is much thinner than his

Murphy (granddaughters) is reddish and black. His hair has grown a lot now and is almost as long as Jasmine's. Not on top, but everywhere else. His hair is very thick and I think he will be beautiful when he is all grown. He is probably 8 lbs or so.

They are both very beautiful. THey just look different. That's a Yorkie for ya! So many different looks and sizes and personalities, but all are Yorkies. I love them all.

Thankyou for the info,it is true all yorkies dont look the same,we cant all have the perfect little show dog can we? lol :) i dont think the pics have done her much justice,she isn't actually very big! she weighs under 2 pounds! i will try and take some better shots! i would love to see a pic of Murphy if you would be able to post a pic? thanks again

I'm of the opinion that if we are to have a purebred and there is a standard set forth for it and there were ethical breeders out there, we wouldn't have so much phenotype diversity!

The original intent of this thread was to ask a question regarding coarse hair and for advice regarding products that may be used to improve the dog's coat. It is unfortunate that in a simple quest for information, a dog owner is forced to justify the origin of her dog and be subjected to an inquisition as to whether or not her dog is indeed a purebred. I could care less whether this dog is purebreed or not. All I see is a beautiful little pup and an owner who is concerned enough about her pet that she is willing to invest in products that will improve the dog's overall appearance and well being. I believe people should refrain from posting their snobbish and rude opinions when it is obvious that these opinions are not related to the topic and will be offensive to certain individuals. Just my opinion, but I would hate to be on the receiving end of such improper comments; "Do unto others..." :)

I have a litter of 8wk old yorkie pups and both the parents are purebreeds! One of the pups in the litter looks like your little pup. The father of the pups have champion bloodlines and the mother also has some champions. So I hope you beleive your pup is full blooded. The yorkie has alot of differnent dogs in it's ancestory so occasionally there is a throw back. :aimeeyork
