Thanks so much for posting these before & after photos. Dudley has had problems with eye goobers & the goobers causing mats around his eyes. Ick. I have been sort of afraid to try trimming around his eyes, but now that I see these photos, I think I will give it a go. Thanks again. |
I have the groomers cut Ginger’s but she still gets a lot of eye gunk…I think she might have allergies. |

He does seem happier without that hair hangin down in his eyes - and he looks better too. :aimeeyork |
When we got Reggie and took her to the vet for the first time, I asked about her teary eyes because I was concerned that there might be something wrong. He suggested keeping the hair trimmed around the eyes. He told me if you're not intending on showing, trim away. It sure helped Reggie. It's funny though, some of her pups have had the same problem with the fine hairs around the eyes and watering and others didn't. Not only did I trim around the eyes, I kept the top of her nose cut short. She's no longer with us. It's been eight long days since she passed over Rainbow Bridge. :lovewings |
I resisted trimming around the eyes as long as I could, but finally my husband said if I didn't trim, he would. That put the fear into me. So I trimmed between and under the eyes. It does make her eyes look bigger and more open and once I got used to it I started really liking it. I don't like the way my mom's groomer does her dog, though. He trims the "eyebrows" over the eyes and cuts off the topknot. But I don't like much of anything that groomer does and he's one of the more expensive ones in town. Go figure. |
I do cut the hair by the eyes. |
1 Attachment(s) I always trim around Smudgers eyes otherwise he looks like this lol :D |
If your Yorkie isn't going to step into the conformation ring, I'd go ahead a shave just the very corner of the eye next to their tear duct and that's it. I don't even like to trim over the muzzle at all because then it looks funny for so long if you ever decide to grow it back out. |
