A family-owned pet store (for more than 50 years) in my area gets their puppies from people who have litters or puppies left from a litter that they want to sell. In fact, this particular store has a very fine reputation for doing just this. I have a friend who placed her last two puppies with this store to be sold. She had a litter of five pups and sold three of them herself. The remaining two were 10 weeks old, and she placed them with the pet store to be sold. She was single, worked full time, needed to leave town for a week, and wanted these two little puppies to find a new home as soon as possible. I bought my little Yorkie at this store. I got an 8-week-old, healthy, little Yorkie that ate up a storm the first night I got him.....and I have never had a problem in the world with him. I was given the name of the lady whose two pet Yorkies had this little pup. She lives way out in a remote area - in a somewhat hard-to-find area and for this reason found it hard to find homes for her puppies. Plus she knows the owners of this store personally, and felt letting them sell her pups was the perfect solution for her. I have contacted this lady, and have found out anything and everything I would ever want to know about my little pup and its parents. She has E-mailed me many times and has sent me lots of pictures. So - there are some pet stores that do not sell puppymill pups. I suspect, however, that they are few and far between. Carol Jean |
