First trip to the groomer 3 Attachment(s) So, I decided Bailey needed a trip to the groomer, he was pretty stinky as he hadn't been bathed in a while (due to nutering), he had some mats on his hind leg that he wouldn't let me get at and his nails needed to be done. I called different groomers, and chose the one i thought would be best for him. We dropped him off for a 4 hour stay...and came back , she was just starting to trim him (I had asked for a bath and tidy) ...So she tells us all he did was screech and whine...that she would be another half hour. We came back and he was done, sitting in a cage...she said that he peed 3 times on the floor and they even took him out and he would't go (he is 4 months). She sounded so putout, and then told me that he did not have yorkie hair, it was too coarse, and that I should never get his ears trimmed as they were "huge" his ear has one point and the other is cut flat on top... She told me not to ever bother with a yorkie cut because it wouldn't work for him....My question is..should i find another groomer? and Bailey is a registered yorkie, does he not look like one?(these are pics after his trim)..can you tell he was pretty upset with me . hehe |
He's adorable! Dogs don't just naturally love the groomer and maybe it isn't the dog but the groomers impatient attitude that made it more stressful than it needed be? I had one bad grooming experience with Teddy after that I actually did grooming interviews until I found one that I loved. I now use a mobile groomer that comes right to my front door. He isn't out in her van for more than 20 minutes and I am welcome to drop in on her anytime during the process. My vote would be to definitely find a new groomer! P.S. He definitely looks ALL yorkie to me... |
Change your groomer! My baby recently had her first trim at 5 months and was only there an hour. When I went back to get her she was being brushed out and was kissing the lovely girl groomer! She was very sympathetic to the fact it was Holly's first experience. I hope you didn't give her a tip! |
I would get a new groomer, thank goodness she does not work in a salon doing humans! I think she had to many complaints and why did this take over 4 hours?? She should have told you about any behaviors problems but not critical comments about your dogs appearence. I am also looking for a first time groomer and your post was helpful. |
Oh my. Why do some people even choose the profession they do?! I'm going to learn to groom Abbie myself just to avoid such nonsense! Sorry your first experience was so unpleasant. Abbie sends *licks*! |
I would diffently find a new groomer! Your dog looks like a yorkie to me. I think the groomer was having a bad day or something. I would just look for a new groomer. :aimeeyork |
Get another groomer. How can your dog begin to have a good experience with in such a negative atmosphere. |
I would switch groomers, I took my baby to teh groomers for the first time about 3 weeks ago and all I wanted was a babth and a trim, I said straight to her DO NOT cut her excessively short, and leave her hair ina bow on top... I came back and she had barley any hair, no top knot her head was cut flat, shes still cute as a button but does'nt look like my hannah and it has'nt grown out yet. I was so upset I B*tched big time and did'nt have to pay. So if my girls hair ever comes back LOL, to a new groomer she will go. I think your yorkie is SOOO cute! |
I would get another groomer! There is no reason that she should have said those things! He is very handsome! |
thank you Thank you all for your advice, now I don't feel like a grumbling ol' complainer...he really was upset, and not himself the rest of the day, spent it in his bed, which he rarely does. I am now looking for a new groomer, even to the point of asking people along our walks whose dogs have a nice trim, lol, they probably think i'm nuts....oh and btw , when Bailey woke up this morning one of his ears were up, it really isn't important to me, but shows how wrong she was...thanks again. :aimeeyork |
You are NOT "a complainer". a)FOUR hours to groom a 4month old puppy!??? puhleeeeeeze!!! b)I don't believe for a minute that they took him outside several times to pee. and c)IF they did take him out, he was feeling so anxious because of negative vibes he didn't know what he was to do WHERE! |
I don't know what's wrong with some groomers. First - they should never say anything unkind or unpleasant about any dog that is brought to them. Second - why they just step up to the plate and say it like it is. I can just imagine what it must be like getting some pups for their first visit. I know mine would put any groomer to the test. He is a totally wiggleworm - and, for the life of me, I would be amazed if he came out looking "real good." This would be a shock to me! Most of us know that little Yorkies have different types of coats....and, some are much easier to manage than others. Some are so difficult that "puppycuts" really are the best way to go - but these are also darling little cuts. Your pup is about as cute as a little Yorkie can be. I think the groomer did a good job - but I might want one that is a little "friendlier." Or - maybe she just had a bad day - we've all been there! You might try her one more time. Carol Jean |
Change........... Please change groomers. There is NO reason for a groomer to be that rude! Your baby is darling!!!! I do think the cut is cute on him.....he's cute anyway! |
I think he is adorable! And who is she to complain so much! I would have peed on her if I was him! Poor little guy! I would find another groomer for sure!! Im so sorry that you had a bad experience! Maybe you could find some yorkie talkers in your area here that could recommend someone. Or you could even ask people from your vet who they use. Thats what I did. Best of luck! You've got a cutie on your hands! |
