Where to sleep at night? Where to sleep at night? Okay it looks like from all the threads I have seen you are ALL suckers. :) At what age did you guys start letting your Yorkies sleep with you? I just started letting my little guy sleep with us and he is just 4 months old. It seems he sleeps through the night better this way than his crate. I know I am a sucker too - lol! The only thing is every now and than he has an accident and potty's in mommy's bed which does not make me happy. Sometimes I can hear him wake up but lets face it a 3 pound puppy walking around on the bed trying to figure out how to get down and potty is not very noticeable. Did anyone else have this problem and when do they start being able to hold it through the night? |
Mine were 4 months old when they started sleeping in our bed. |
mine started sleeping with me the day that i brought them home! Daisy only had one accident in the bed and Chloe has not had any! |
As soon as they could sleep through the night i let mine sleep with us, which was around 4 - 5 months. |
Cali was a little over 4 months. She is wee wee pad trained and has stairs to get down off the bed. After the first week or so she slept through the night and din't even get down to go during the night. |
i guess after 4 months lexi slept with me, but you have to have a way for the puppy to get off the bed to go potty. |
Okay well maybe I will get him some stairs and see if he uses them at night to go potty outside. I am getting a small doggie door this weekend so hopefully he will use that - he is very good about going to the sliding door and waiting for you to open it to let him out. |
Princess has beds, but from day one she took over ours, but she lets us sleep with her. :) :) :) |
I let him sleep in the bed with me from day 1 that I brought him home, at 9 weeks old. He had a pee accident the first night, and never anything after that. I think most puppies (at least, all I have ever had) will let you know if they need to get up to use the bathroom - ear kisses or a little whimper or the like. They don't like to use the bathroom where they sleep, and Ness is 12.5 weeks old now and has no problem sleeping through the night. In fact, he is a little grumpy when I wake him up at 7:30 to use the potty pad... ;) |
I have allowed some to come to bed with us at 12 weeks as to keep a better eye on them. They snuggle up at my arm so that way I feel them move. Through all my pups I have only had one potty on the bed, most hold it or I feel them move and let them down on a pee pad. |
Gypsy has started sleeping in our bed recently. She was sleeping in a large cardboard box beside our bed. She would wake up everytime we turned over it seemed. So hubby said put her up there. He grumbles but he seems to like her cuddled up next to him. I just worry he will roll over her in the night, but I think his dad instincts have kicked in with her. During the day she always wants to be with me, but at night she's a daddy's girl. |
I feel bad now.lol Diesel doesn't sleep with us. We have a rather large shepherd that sleeps with us. The 2 of them are buddies but I am still scared that someone will roll over on him. He is 8 months old and is only 4.5 pounds. So I went and bought a baby playpen. He sleeps in that at night with a puppy pad and his toys and a bed. He also stay in it when we go out. I am too scared of what might happen if he is left alone with the Shepherd. He has no fear of him and they are like long lost buddies. Shep would never hurt him except accidently while playing. So I figure why take the chance. I forgot to add that at night before we go to bed he snuggles with us in bed while watching some tv. He has this thing for going under the covers to sleep. So that is another reason I am scared to let him sleep with us. Oh and as for the steps... Diesel LOVES them. It didn't take him long to figure out what they were for. LOL It is so cute. Consider yourself lucky. He is letting you share the bed! LOL ;) |
You wouldn’t think that a three-pound dog trying to find a place to pee would wake you up but after I few accidents you’ll jump at the sound of those paws. Lol. Just the other night I was up the second I heard her feet hit the carpet (now that she can jump off the bed to go pee). I love sleeping with my little snuggle bug but she has had her share of accidents in the past. I truly believe though, that the only time she has done it, (I think a total of 4 times) it was an absolute emergency. So, you may get a few more surprises before she’s able to hold it, or until you start to be able to wake for her. |
Gucci sleeps with us since she was 6 months. No accidents on the bed. She goes down to her pee pad if she needs to go in the middle of the nite which is rare. We love sleeping with her. Actually I can't sleep If dont feel her next to me. My husband loves it also. Last nite it was a bit cold and Gucci snuggle to him, he woke up so exited cause if it. She usually snuggles to me but last nite she wanted her daddy and he was super happy. |
From the first night - 8 weeks old. Slept 6 or 7 hours a night from the first night on - (They really do sleep a lot longer when they sleep with someone. They wake up, find you there, snuggled back up and go back to sleep.) Never pee's in the bed - but wears a belly band just in case. Carol Jean |
