Scare of my Life! This past Friday, my sister went out the back door (in which Kiki sits and waits for an opportunity) and Kiki flew out and she had not noticed. She proceeded to unload groceries out of her car and left the gate open and Kiki ran out. When we noticed that he was gone it was just beginning to thunder and lightening here in Michigan. The rain began to pour down and my baby was lost. My son and I were devastated. We all began to cry like crazy and search our neighborhood to no avail. My husband came home from work that night and searched again. We could not find him. All I could think about was my baby out in the cold and rain. That night my husband, my son and I prayed and we asked God if he could provide a miracle we need one now! The next morning I made flyers and my husband began to canvass the neighborhood. The first home he went to a little boy about the age of 11 answered the door and my husband told him we lost our puppy and he began to hand him the flyer and he said "I know where he is, I know where he is" he's about 7 houses down. My husband went down to the home and found our baby. The neighbor stated that they were about to go door to door to find out whose dog it was. (I still wonder if that was true) They had given him a bath, tried on a number of outfits and Kiki slept with her daughter that night. I am thankful that God answered that prayer also (that he was not out in the cold and was in a loving home) We gave the little boy and that family a reward to say thank you! When my husband walked in the house with my furbaby I felt like I could live again. The night before was a rough night for all of us. I felt like I lost a part of me. I am really thinking about getting him chipped. I thank God that answering our prayer! |
I'm so glad that you were able to find him. How scary that must have been |
Oh Wow. THAT is too close for comfort....you did have an angel watching over Kiki....and a good neighbor for taking him inside. :) I'm so glad things worked out...that could have been so tragic... |
Oh wow! Im soo glad you found him! How awful for you!! |
Im so glad hes back home and is safe. |
Very scary! Our little ones are so quick! Perhaps have a gate on the back door! Give him lots of cuddles. |
Thank you all! I know one thing. It hurt so bad. I kept looking around for him. Waiting on him to jump up on me and give me a kiss. It was really hard sleeping at night. He tends to sleep with each one of us. First he lays with my son, then he sleeps next to me and when my husband comes home from work he sleeps with him. I never want to go through that again! |
I lost my Lacy for two weeks. I posted poster boards all over my neighborhood and called every vet, pet rescue, animal shelter, etc. Anyway, my entire family was heartbroken and grieving. One evening, my husband said, "You know what I know we have all been praying separately, but we haven't prayed together, and you know God hears prayers when two or more are gathered together." Just as we finished our family praryer the phone rang. A friend of a person who lives 2 blocks from me had found a Yorkie in Santa Teresa (30 miles from me). Anyway, they thought the dog was very sick and called these people who had Yorkies and they felt would pay the vet bills. Anyway, they said we don't really need another Yorkie, but I bet this lady who lost hers would pay the bills. Anyway, she wasn't sick just very homesick and she turned out to be our Lacy!! So never give up hope, God does answer prayers!! |
How scary! I'm so glad that you got him back. |
That is all of our worst nightmares! So glad yours had a happy ending. Yes, I think that little boy should be GodBrother! |

I thought I had a testimony! You really had one! and you are right God does answer prayers! He is an awesome God! |
Wow how scary! I am glad you got him back. |
Oh my gosh! That is so scary!!! I'm so glad you got little Kiki back!! That is one of my greatest fears! |
I’m so glad your scare had a happy ending. What a wonderful little boy... |
Forgot to Mention I also forgot to tell you all that the next day my son woke up and said that he had a dream that we got Kiki back. God had given him peace! |
That God that you found your furbaby. There's just one thing that puzzles me...why do people who find other's beloved pets feel as if they have to bathe and clothe them? This is the second time on YT that I've heard someone do this. I think it was txshopper's furbaby. Sorry, I don't understand why. IMHO that doesn't sound like they were planning on going to find her owner. I'm so glad you went looking and that kid told you where she was! :D |

I am so glad that both your stories had such happy endings. It's too bad that all vets don't scan every new patient as a matter of course to make sure they actually belong to the people who bring them in. It's also bad that there isn't a universal chip but any chip is better than none. It's a good way to prove ownership in case of dispute. If those people that found Kiki had been dishonest a microchip would have helped you out. I read a story about a pom who was missing for eight years but because of the chip, the owner got him back at the end. As far as giving the lost dogs a bath, maybe they were going to return them or maybe not, but the dogs were probably dirty and wet and at least they were well taken care of. At least they weren't taken to a shelter which probably would have been very scary for them. |
Oh my, how scary! It does make you wonder if they were really going to start looking for his owners or not... |

Oh my gosh...I'm so happy for you that you found your baby! God was surely guiding you! I can only imagine how you felt! I dreamed the other night that I lost Maddie...was walking her and all of a sudden she was gone, leash and all. That was a terrible nightmare and I woke up to find her sleeping next to me! |
Oh you are so blessed! Thank God she was safe! See good things happen to good people! |
Oh wow, what a scare. Im so happy that you found your baby and she was safe. Thank God that she is home and well. |
Again, Thank you all! I truly know how it feels to lose something you love so dearly! I told my husband, this was our furbaby. I can't imagine feeling that way over my human son! |
Oh TAMMY honey!! I am so happy that you had a happy end to your story!! WOW! I was freaking out while reading it... OH MY GOODNESS! I bet they gave poor Kiki a bath because he was filthy from the storm! What nice folks! :p |

I agree. I have bathed every dog I have found some I have only had one day and others a week. If they were going to sleep in bed with me they were getting a bath!! I have never taken a reward and have always looked for the owner because I know through experience how painful losing one is. |

Nicole, I think I would bathe a small dog that I brought into my home because of my other kids-especially my 'geriatric kids'. If the dog looked uncared for or sick, I would want to keep them separated, too. I already give the vet plenty of money! :p But then again, I would have canvassed the neighborhood before bringing them home in the first place. That's what I would hope someone would do for me. |
I am so happy you and your family were Blessed with a happy ending. Please think about getting him chipped. It wasn't too long ago I was at our Vets Office, when someone walked in with a furbaby, asking about shots. They knew right away it wasn't their's. They took the furbaby to the back and sure enough it was a ladies who has been going there for years. One other time, a friend lost her furbaby, someone found her and took her in. When we found out where she was, the people told the police it was theirs, and they even had pictures. If it wasn't for that chip there would be no way to prove it wasn't. To be on the safe side, Please think about getting a chip for Kiki. :2hearts2: :2hearts2: :2hearts2: |
