Well, yougetthesmiles, I'd like to say that Joey doesn't chew on inappropriate items because 1) he gets all the nutrition he needs and 2) he is well-trained. BUT, I don't think that is the case. I think that it varies from dog to dog just like the sucking need varies alot in human babies. I let Joey chew on things that other members here don't think are safe (rawhide and pigs ears). I tend to think that he gets his chewing needs met that way, but, heck, I honestly don't know what the answer is! |
I keep Reggie in our bathroom when we're gone and he's chewed on the corner edge of the vanity (I put soap on it and I think he's stopped) and then on the corner of the trim for the linen closet. So Bully stix are ok and won't make the puppies sick? Or get stuck in their intestines as far as anyone knows? |
as far as i know completly digestable... lexi has them 24/7 with no problem at all....and her teeth are pearly white and clean tooo from them,, |
Oscar only chewed out of boredom. We were busy and not watching him. He has not chewed on anything in a VERY long time. I think his daddy made a believer out of him the last time he chewed the computer power supply cord in half. |
Dezi is 14 weeks old and she chews on everything. Wood, metal, plastic, carpet, toes, and fingers. My sister has two yorkies and they never chewed on things. I bought Dezi edible Nylabone and she loves it, but is quite messy, when its gets all soggie. I may try the bully stix. |

Princess is with me 24/7. She chewed on my LV purse, but it wasn't her fault. Daddy was watching his little girl when Mom was in the shower, only football was on, so she had to find something to play with. Yes her daddy did buy me a new purse, he didn't like it too much, but it was his fault not hers. ;) ;) ;) I'm not really sure why they chew, but Princess chews on her toys all the time, and she has really strong teeth. :) :) :) |
My girls really havent chewed on anything of any value that they were not supposed to. But I have my eye on the constantly and I keep things put up! |
Another anti-chew suggestion....gel deodorant. I did put this on my woodwork and furniture because I was worried Trace would chew it....never touched anything. And to dispell the male/female myth. Trace (male) didn't chew "stuff"....Ramsey (female) would like to  |
Duncan will be 1 on Monday and he is chewing on different things like cords, magazines,DVD, socks, shoes, etc. I would give him bully sticks but Bo has pancreatitis and he will chew on it also and get sick from it. When Bo was younger he never chewed on much of anything. Duncan is pretty active though. |
