| ![]() I too have a lab called Jake who loves to swim. Pippa my yorkie has only swam once. Jake ran and jumped in a very very deep puddle and Pippa followed. But to her this puddle was a lake LOL She started to swim but the look of fear on her face was awful. I waded in and got her and she clung to me for dear life, she has never done it since. So i guess you could say she doesnt like swimming.

| ![]() I think, like children, sometimes little dogs have to get used to the water. Mine was afraid, but we discovered quickly that she really enjoyed being on a floating raft with me, and then after doing that a few times, she didn't mind the water nearly as much. I have to put my pup in the water once in a while at the lake. We hang out on the dock - and some summer days are far too hot for anyone or anything that doesn't jump in once in a while and cool off. Also - I have noticed that she will go wading on her own a lot. Carol Jean |

| ![]() The first time we were near a pond on a hike last some, Ginger (who was off lead at the time) gave us quite a shock by running down to the pond and jumping in (sadly, we don't have a pic of that) needless to say, she's been swimming ever since! We were responsible and got her a life jacket, although she seems to be a pretty good little swimmer. I'd give it a try, your yorkie might love it! |

| ![]() Tasha loves to swim. Jersey does too but not as much as tasha does. Sometimes she just does it cause tasha is and she wants to be near her.

| ![]() Oh Yes, Just say BOAT and Jack is trying to get out the door. We started him using a life jacket, and now he just runs into the water. He has his life jacket on at all times on the boat though. We never let him swim without one of us with him.
