I would go with your gut instinct..if you already know which one you prefer than that is probably the best place..as for my opinion..
I would have a hard time placing a pup with anyone that wanted to breed without seeing there home. Just for the simple fact you never know if they are a byb or puppymill...but if you feel comfortable in that area than I think the family would be great for a yorkie..little kids older kids or no kids..
As far as the single girl....she may not have the time to devote to a yorkie if she works alot..
So my choice would be probably neither. Hope I can choose that.

I wouldn't rule the young girl out...my husband was adamant about no yorkie! Now he has 2!! He tries to treat them into loving him more! My daughter is a young college student and takes great care of her "baby".
Do you know the ages of the children? Accidents do happen...pros and cons both ways .

The only thing that concerns me about the family is what Tashasmom said -- I'd be worried about her saying she wants to breed. What if the breeding thing doesn't work out? Would she still love the little boy as much as her other Yorkie? And what if her real aim is to be MORE than a "hobby breeder?"

Did the lady emphasize that she wants to breed or was it just a passing comment?

I wouldn't go with the single girl--sounds as though she would work too long hours.As you know, our babies love company! The puppy may be more of a thing to show off--they are still dogs who love to be trained and learn tricks etc.as well as be pampered. My pup love her yard-I'd be wary of anyone without one. Not sure about the 'breeder'.Go with your gut instinct.

Even though I said go with the family - I agree with this and it had me a little worried.

Each family is different and I don't hesitate to place a pup with a family with young children IF, they were raised with other animals in the house and were taught from the start how to treat them. And on the other hand, older children might not have a clue as to how fragile yorkies can be and be too rough with them. The family already has a yorkie, I wouldn't hesitate, nor would I dismiss the girl with the apartment.

Now this is my opinion only.

I have small children and my furbabies are fine and doing greta it depends how the children have been raised, mine have been raised to be gentle and respect animals. I think the family would be best my yorkie loves playing with my kids.

First of all I want to say that I am 20 yrs old and yes I am married! My hubby was not happy about me wanting to get my yorkies but now he loves them just as much as I do! We both work full time but the way our hours are my yorkies are only home 3 hrs in the morning and 2 and a half hours in the afternoon. Yes me and my hubby go out sometimes on the weekend but so do some older adults! I just dont think its fair to single out the younger adults bc they are not responsible or whatever! I am a better yorkie mom then some of the others that I have seen!

The family. Definetly.... I know it's unfair to say that the young women won't do a great job raising your baby, but due to her long hours as you stated, how much can she actually spoil this yorkie? The family already has one so they know what to do an expect, how about if the young girl can not handle the yorkie. She's never had one. The choice is yours of coarse, but I'd stick to the family.......That's just me. GoodLuck.....I just wanted to say for other Yt members.... It's not about age, it's about having time for your pup...

My only concern with the young girl is whether or not she's allowed to have animals in her apartment. She may think she can sneak one in, but what if she gets caught and the landlord tells her to get rid of it or move. Or what if for some reason she moves to another place where dogs aren't allowed. That concerns me more than her age and long hours. I don't think the long hours are necessarily a problem if she can come home and lunch and such.

For me age wouldn't be a factor period and I don't think it is for anyone on here so I hope the young yt's aren't taking offense. I think the concern is the hours she works.

I'd have to agree. Someone that age with a great job in NYC is working long hours! Its just the nature of the beast.

And to try to add a social life on top of all that...

I am 20 and not married , I have 4 Yorkies . I don't consider myself irresponsible because I am single . The better place for a puppy is a place where he or she will be love , appreciate and well taken care of , no matter if it is in a family or a single person .

I agree with you, I only 20 and my yorkies are very well taken care of! Better than most children in this world! Its aggravating to say that just bc we are young doesnt mean that we cant take care of our yorkies!
