Kobesmomma, that is awesome...you just gave me some more good foods to had to their diets. My friend got me hooked on this book and the way of feeding owns a boston terrier. The boston terrier basically has his own chef in the house cuz she feeds them what they are eating. Last night I fed them a little bit of rice with steamed vegetables and a little pork for dinner. After dinner was I prepared their breakfast...which was eggs mixed with steamed vegetables. That is what they are getting for breakfast. I thought this would be harder than I though, but it really isn't. If you haven't read the book I would highly reccomendd it. James |
Tino gets fed home cooked meals too. He wont eat dog food - I've tried and tried and tried. He is not over weight, he is healthy and full of life. He has no problems pooing either. He gets all sorts from potato hash to roast beef. And he's fine! :) |
I have to make my yorkie homemade food because of his liver. He cannot eat high amounts of protein. When I read the ingredients of what I am suppose to give him I thought , I eat this stuff! I did HAVE to buy all the vitamins needed to put in the food I cook him. This is what it has: 1 centrum vitamin,Vitamin E, Fish oil tab, powdered bone meal, and 1 tsp of fiber. That is added to food enough for 1 week. So I cook it once a week. The food ingredients are 2 cups of white rice,4 oz of lean beef,1 boiled egg 1/4 tsp salt. This was given to me by his vet. So far he seems to enjoy it much more than other stuff I have tried to feed him. A little rice mixed in with dogfood doesnt hurt.Just plain white rice though. I used to do that with the special diet canned food because he hated ,hated it! Genie,Cookie & Lola |
wow that is awesome....I was wondering if that whole grain rice or brown rice would be better for them. I've been feeding them white rice, but I wonder if they will like the other kinds of rice. Let me ask another question, do you guys use the asian sticky rice or the amercan non-sticky rice? I think I'm gonna try cooking the rice with chicken broth to add more flavor next time. |
