People make me so mad!!

Yesterday I was walking Nikko and we spotted this older man (I'd say he was in his 60's). Nikko of course went into his little performance. He LOVES attention and usually jumps, spins and wags his tail furiously when he sees people. Anyway, the man came up to me and asked me "what did you name this animal?" Animal? huh? I told him his name was Nikko and he went on to talk about his daughter's dog. Then he looks at Nikko while he is being as adorable as ever and says "hey, you might me fond of me but I am not so fond of you!" and he walked away. What the f@$# was that about? He is lucky my mother raised me to respect my elders otherwise I would have given him a piece of my mind!!

That's just crazy... People can be weird sometimes...

Crystal

Lexi Rae 03-17-2006 08:02 AM

sounds sick to me...

chachi 03-17-2006 08:03 AM

People can be so stupid sometimes and rude with what they say. Yesterday my dogs were out and they were barking at my neighbors friend and he yelled at them.

yorkiegirl2 03-17-2006 08:03 AM

You should have said..
Well, if he was around you every long.. I don't think he be so fond of you either...What an a$$.

rrosenberry 03-17-2006 08:04 AM

Yikes~ Miserable man..

yeah, and You could have said " I don't really give two s**ts about your daughters dog, but I was polite and listened."

Nikko's_human 03-17-2006 08:06 AM

And the worse part is this idiot came over to ME!! I didn't throw the dog on him. We were off to the side and I had Nikko's leash very short because i know how he can get when he sees people and not every one likes that. I was being respectful and he comes over to me and insults my dog. Say what you will about me, but NO ONE insults my dog. That really upset me.

rrosenberry 03-17-2006 08:14 AM

I know exactly how you feel. I have this GROUCHY old guy neighbor, and he blurts out one day.. " Pick up your dogs s**t." After I had just picked it up, out of his neighbors yard, I held up the baggie and said " LIKE THIS?!"
When really I wanted to whip it at his face.
Now everytime I go by he glares out his window watching me.
I have NEVER not picked up my dogs do do.. GET OFF MY BACK, you old Goat!

Anyhooo, I know how ya feel.

Lacy's Mom 03-17-2006 08:25 AM

Some old people and some not so old have lost the joy in living. I know when I took my girls selling Girl Scout cookies this one old woman actually shooed them away like flies. Being only 5 and 7 at the time it really hurt their feelings, but I told them just to say a prayer for the person.

How Rude!!!! :thumbdown

Marie 03-17-2006 08:32 AM

Some people are so rude and mean; and just don't like our furbabies. My neighbor hates dogs, she is a grouch and a biash (you know what I mean). If she hears Gucci barking she screams at her, punches the wall ( we live in an apt building) and slams her doors. I try for Gucci not to bark but she is a dog after all, that is how dogs communicate. She even told me that she doesnt like Gucci and she wants me to get rid off her; I told her she is out of her mind.

OMIGOD, she sounds awful  I live in an apartment too, and i know Nikko gets barky sometimes but thankfully no one has complained. Technically we are not supposed to have dogs in the building but lots of people do besides me. Yet, managment says we can have cats  Some cats are bigger and can cause more damage than Nikko ever could. It makes no sense.

stinky 03-17-2006 08:48 AM

I’ve been seeing that a lot lately in older men. It comes across as rudeness, but I think it may actually be an attempt to be clever? I don’t know, clever or not, it’s still unpleasant. :thumbdown

Gucci is the smallest dog in the building But she doesn't care about them cause they don't live next to her. So she takes it on my Gucci. In my building you see a pit, rotwiller, charles spaniel, etc. You can hear them barking but she only fights with me. And is not like Gucci is barking all day long cause that is not the case. She barks if she hears a noise in the hallway and I stop her rite away. Oh well we are looking to move is just that we haven't found an apt we can afford yet, we live in NYC and rents are sky high.

By the way my neighbor is on her 20-30's. :thumbdown

JeanieK 03-17-2006 08:53 AM

Well obviously the man is just an unhappy person, why else would you go out of your way to insult a dog. He must have run out of people to insult.

Storm 03-17-2006 08:54 AM

What a jerk! I have a neighbor that acts that same way towards my Stormy. Whenever I see him outside, I tend to walk the other way. It's just not worth getting upset about.

yorkiemomwannaB 03-17-2006 09:38 AM

I got into a huge arguement last 4th of July over my English Mastiff  It was like 2:00 a.m. I let Tank out to do his business, he usually scratches the door when he wants backs in. I heard Tank start barking, then I heard people screaming  I walked out on my deck to call Tank back into the house and there was a drunk guy that lived a few houses up the street fighting with his girlfriend...so of course Tank was barking. When I called to him he came straight to me. This guy starts yelling at me and calling me names...and tries to get in my gate. Tank went nuts! So "drunk guy: kicks my fence right where my dog is. By this time I'm doing some name-calling of my own! I finally got Tank inside the house and had to call the police because the guy was still at my fence yelling...he told the cops my dog tried to attack him and his girlfriend. The cop who was a friend of the family told him my dog was inside our yard and he should be thankful he didn't get in the gate when he tried because Tank would have "laid a hurting" on him LOL.
Months after all this happened my neighbor still would call me a b*tch while walking past my house and yell at any of my dogs that were outside. I can't understand people who don't like animals!

I really don't think being in his 60's or "elderly" is what made the man rude. He was most likely rude when he was young and hasn't mellowed with age. As a person in their 60's, I see a lot of young people who are very rude and have no manners whatsoever.
It's not the age of the person that makes them rude. It's just that manners and compassion are getting to be a thing of the past. There are so many rude people around nowadays, even children.

You just gained tons of respect from me. I wish there were more like you. You did exactly what I think is the right thing to do. Instead of being mean like that lady was you taught your children the right way to handle unkind people...thumb up to you.

No you are right, it isn't that ageat all. It just so happened, this was an older man that I had the experience with, I don't discriminate, I deal with rude people of all ages.

I agree....it is very sad that manners and compassion are fading from society. :(

Tashasmom 03-17-2006 10:37 AM

I have to say I enjoy being around the older generation alot more than I do my generation and younger. It seems people my age and younger the majority have forgotten about simple things in life as well as how to respect. But thats another thread on another day..lol.

Ohh man, I know the feeling! Kloey is the same way, when we go on walks she is like "look at me people" "look how cute I'am" "ah Hello? can't you see me" then if they walk by her she turns around to like say " HELLO!!!!!!!" "whatever, your loss cause I'm really cute"

Oh girl, I just notice you live in NYC also. Cool maybe we can have a playdate when is warmer for the pups. Have you join the NYC meet up club? During the winter they are meeting in Happy Paws. I went once, is nice.

That sounds like so much fun!! My Nikko is an only child and it breaks my heart to see how excited he gets when he sees other doggies.

shelbysmom 03-17-2006 11:38 AM

We have that happen with Shelby too. She has her favorite people on our walks now and she goes CRAZY when she sees them. all others, she is a little less crazy ;)

Hey, it's their loss. Don't let it upset you.
