Can you just put up a baby gate so Baby cant go upstairs? This is what I do. I dont know how wide it is between the banisters so in the end you may need something permanent for them. I have children and my son is just learning to walk so I gate off the upstairs anyway. Its a bit incondvenient but Ive got used to stepping over the gate. |
Here's a link to the site for the swing babygate at Babies R Us. We love ours. Good luck!! http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...=baby&n=540992 |
Check with any local auto glass installer, they usually carry plexiglass, or maybe a Lowes or Home depot, they should carry something also. |

Hi, Did you get my private message yesterday? For whatever reason, Sophie doesn't care about what is on the other side. Our cats don't either. Maybe they have enough sense to know that would be dangerous? My neighbors have the same stairs and walkway that we both have and their small Yorkie (4 lbs) has no problems, and she has the run of the house. Of course, you need to do whatever you think is most safe. I hope you can find what you need. |
1 Attachment(s) Have you considered Lattice work . My daughter bought the white plastc lattice and my husband just cut it to fit the stair area . The holes are small enough the puppy does not fity through. You can buy 4x8 sheets at a building suppy or garden center pretty cheap . Most people use it to cove in area below decks. I will try to attach photo of lattice Fran |
I have a cat walk also and Pita looks over but would never jump! She won't even jump off the couch, but maybe she's just cautious. Try a glass company. I don't know how permanent you want it to be but maybe there is some screening or something you could buy in a roll to cover it until you can come up with something else? |
The easiest and most in-expensive thing to do is just go out buy a staple gun and a roll of chicken wire, and just staple it along the areas that they can fit through. We currently live in an appartment and have a porch with spaces enough for them to fit through so we just put the wire up so they can go outside with us without having to worry about them falling through. Its kinda funny, we just bought a second yorkie and when shes up on the couch or anywhere for that matter she will just roll right off or jump, no fear of heights with that one, but our older puppy wont even try to jump off the couch. |
chicken wire? If you look at my photo I think you can see why that isn't going to work- not for the central hallway of a house, maybe ok for a deck. |
I posted a place to custom order plexiglass. |
