| Newbie with SIX new babies! Hi there! I am new here and have found and been reading post on this site for the last few weeks. I don't usually post on sites (cause I'm not sure how) but I wanted to share and thought some of you would appreciate seeing the new babies that my little girl Bitsy just had. Long story short, I've had Bitsy for about six months (she is 3 years old and I rescued her) and my little boy Bentley who is 13 months old and I've had him since puppyhood. My husband and I neither one had ever been around a dog in heat before, and being as ignorant as we were about it, enabled our two yorkies to mate which we did not intent to do. My Bentley is about a 12 pounder and Bitsy is petite and weighs around 5 pounds, so we did NOT intend on breeding them because of the size difference. We made Bitsy wear those little bloomers when we finally figured out that she indeed was in heat. However, there was one time when she and Bentley were "attached". We worried, but not too much since it was only once, and when she started to look swollen in her belly we thought, and so did the vet, that she was having a false pregnancy. She had had two litters of pups already with her previous owners. It was only Thursday after her second xray that the vet doctor was able to confirm that she WAS really pregnant and the very next morning, which was yesterday April 1st that she went into labor. She did wonderful birthing and taking care of the whole labor herself and it was blessing and first time experience for us to behold! Her pups are of average size and there were no problems! I'm trying to post pictures, in the gallery I think, and I hope you all can see them!!! I uploaded them to "my gallery" but aren't sure how to get them on a thread but I'm trying I don't know how to do this so bear with me. If anyone responds to this post or ask me a question and I don't respond or it takes me a while, please know that I am not being rude or ignoring you This is new to me and I'm learning as I go along This site is great and I'm glad to have a place to share my "love of yorkies"! I'm going to add this link to this thread and see if you can click on it and if it takes you to the ftp space gallery that I used to send my family and friends. | The puupies are adorable! Where did Bitsy come from? Have you weighed the puppies? They look very healthy! I assume they won't have "papers" and will be eventually sold as pets only? There are so many posts on here for people looking for reasonably priced Yorkie puppies, I know you will eventually find excellent homes for them! Congratulations on your new additions! They are precious and so is Bitsy! Last edited by eensor; 04-02-2005 at 03:42 PM. |

| Newbie BITSY's PUPS Thanks for all the replys! I didn't know that long post actually got posted til just now I've had internet problems because of the wind here! I live in NC. I got Bitsy locally out of the newspaper from a yorkie breeder and she looked pitiful when I got her. They were using her as a breeder dog and they TOLD me she had only had two liters before. The lady was in bad health and getting out of the business. She is beautifully healthy now and has the sweetest loving temperment and we spoil and treat her like the child that she is to us! You would think I had had her all her life! I think she may have been mistreated The pups are as healthy looking as they can be! They both have papers and are registered, AKC I think is what it is. I have the forms for Bentleys papers but haven't sent off to get them, I am trying to get Bitsy's papers from her previous owners as they live pretty close to me, Charlotte area. Thanks you guys for all your kind responses! This is going to be fun! My husband gonna hate it though Getting ready to watch a movie with the big family. I'm gonna check back in a bit though! |

| Congrats on the new puppies! I'm so glad that the birth went so well. I'm also glad that you found yorkie talk. Everyone here is really nice and friendly. And there are some breeders on here that will probably be able to help you when/if you have questions. Good luck and be sure to continue to show us pics as the puppies grow! We love pics around here!!

| Thank you! Thank you all for making me feel so welcome I'll surely be adding more pics!!! I was just reading another post about the weight of yorkies and how they differ. It's funny to me too! Three of our pups are about half the size of the other three, although they are all eating well and healthy looking. There is no telling what kind of weight difference my liter will turn out to be. We have our first vet check on Monday. My Bistsy is used to sleeping in the bed with us (I'm reminded of the "Hows your sex life post ) and now she is torn between being with her pups and being with us. Of course being the motherly little girl she is, she chooses her pups, but she barks whenever she wants us to come and get her and give her some love. She has been so happy today and that tail has been wagging like there is no tomorrow! Lots of energy too! She is bouncing back fast! She's already back to her petite size even though she's eating triple what she normally would. The fat she carried was ALL pups! I wish I had a scale so I could weigh them but I guess the vet will do that Mon. I can't even think about selling any pups yet. It makes me sad. We're keeping one, maybe two if I can talk my husbnad into it. When I got Bitsy for a playmate for Bentley it was one of the best things I ever did. Can't imagine having just one yorkie now! Thanks again for all your kind replies! I gotta go tuck my little babies in |

| New Pups Boys vs. Girls Looks like I have four girls and two boys, at least as far as I can tell Mom has ten teats, I guess that is normal, but four of her teats look flat and I don't think any milk is coming out or the pups can get latched onto them. Does anyone know if that is normal? That leaves six teats, one for each pup. I'm constantly checking to make sure every pup has a teat Does anyone know if and how I can make the other four teats work? They sure would come in handy! |
