Oh yeah, when you get your baby spayed it may be a good idea to get her 2 teeth pulled at the same time as well. |

Quick question Even though this is like 4 months away for me, when I get Adrianna spayed, I remember reading that Yorkies shouldn't get a type of anesthesia. Is this true? What should I request to my vet? |
Good to know when the best time is.I have just over a month until Holly is 6 months.I am going to use my local vet although it is more expensive than the SPCA,as they are nearer if we have problems and I have a good relationship with them.Still not looking forward to it though. Getting Holly grommed first so her hair is shorter and not in the way! |
The anesthesia you want to use is Isoflurane or Sevoflurane. The newer one is Sevoflurane and the little ones come out quicker with this. |

*********** but getting back to spaying... how old and how big is your isabella now? weight does make a difference in terms of how your puppy will handle the surgery. most puppy will go back to normal in a matter of days or hours. if all else fails, check with your vet. |
Isabella is only 3 pounds and that worries me too, because she's so skinny. I know I need to make the appointment, but I just can't get myself to do it, it's so scary. |
is she skinny but not too skinny? ie, she's eating well and at her ideal weight for her age? i wanted to neuter bunjee asap but my vet recommended that i wait until he's pushing 5 lbs before we put him under. of course the type of anesthesia helps too. some are better for little ones than others. i was a nervous wreck when i took bunjee to the vet the day he was scheduled for his neutering too. but he handled everything beautifully and hours later you wouldn't even know he was ever in surgery earlier in the day. i know spaying a female is a little different but i'm sure your vet will be able to make the best possible recommendation for isabella. who knows, it might be better for you to wait until she gets a little bigger, and most of her teeth have naturally fallen out so you can do the spaying and any teeth extraction at the same time. good luck! |
I really think I need to find a new vet before I do this because at the one we currently go to, there's several vets that work there, so I wouldn't even know for sure which one would spay her. And I don't feel like they give me enough information about her. I get more information on yorkietalk than I do at the vet! I just hope she goes into heat a little bit later, so I have time to figure all this out. |

It is perfectly normal to be a little worry about the surgery . |
