| Totally Freaked Out! Humping at 11 weeks Okay my husband was laying on our bed reading and Sebastian started humping his arm!! I always heard that this started between 6-8 months. We have 4 children all under age 10 and I am not quite ready or know the right words to explain why he is doing this so any advice will be gratefully appreciated. They think of him as a baby beacuase he is only 11 weeks. |

| My husband said his wasn't out either, I just can't believe it we have only had him for two weeks today and this was the first time he has ever done it and I am usually the one who spends most of the time with him. Believe me I'm not jelous he was humping my husband's arm LOL, I am just curious as to why him and no one else and not even his toys. I am actually pretty relieved it wasn't me as we sometimes take a nap during the day. Gosh what an awful thought! |

| dont hold me on this, but i've heard that with female pups do this, it's a dominance thing. but maybe because he's so close to you, that he feels the need to show your husband who's boss? |

| at 11 weeks his humping is purely dominance...... my toby did this to my fiance, and my fiance thought it was funny, SO now the 'pecking order' goes ME, TOBY, MY FIANCE...... you should actually be thrilled that he wasnt trying to hump you, that means he knows you are boss and is not trying to challenge you |

| Gus was humping the day I got him (eight weeks). I couldn't believe it. At first it was his stuffed animals but a few times he tried my arm too. For some reason it was when I was sitting with my arm bent. He likes elbows. He also started to lift his leg at 10 weeks. Not completely just an inch or so off the ground. He recently has started to show pink -eek. I am really hoping this will stop when he is neutered next month. It really freaks the kids out.

| They are all old enough that no explanation is needed. The youngest is almost thirteen and the oldest seventeen going on eighteen. It's the seventeen year old that has the biggest problem with it. Go figure. I do tell them it is perfectly natural, he is a dog after all. Ten years and under is tough. I think it depends on their age and if they are seriously asking why he does it because they want to understand what he is doing. Then I've always believed in telling them the truth. I like them to come to me for answers. Start simple and see if they have another question. Something like dogs do that when they want to have puppies. That might be enough. In my own experiences it was more of a big deal to me than it was to them. If a four year old asks you could probably just tell them he is just being silly and that might be the end of it. I don't know if that helps but it is a tricky question.

| Humping? Actually the act itself is not mating, but it is a direct act of Dominating. He's just trying establish his rank among your pack! It doesn't matter what age he is....no matter how cute these dogs are they are still male terriers not a stuffed toy. That is a typical normal male trait/action. They do it when they are excited and want to control the situation. Unless you plan on Breeding him? I suggest you get him nuetered as soon as your Vet. says it's OK.? Some males mature faster than others. Good Luck! |

| You mihgt give him a stuffed animal to keep with him in his sleeping area that you bring out when hes out. Chachi has a stuffed bear and its the only thing he humps. If I leave it in his sleeping area and hes out he'll cry for me to get it.

| It's possible! I didn't believe it when my husband told me Frankie was humping his Teddy at 10 weeks, until I saw it for myself! I yelled, "Frankie," and he looked up like he'd been caught doing something bad, and ran away from his Teddy. It was cute, yet disgusting!!!!!!!!! |

| Well my breeder recommended that I do use him as a stud and to not get him neutered, I know it is my choice and we are still undecided. Others that have bought from my breeder got theirs neutered and later regret it because alot of people in our area are looking for studs his size. He will mature between 3-4 lbs. He is our first Yorkie and I am not mad or upset about his humping I was just shocked because I always though they started this between 6-8 months. I didn't realize it is a dominant thing. Either way I thank you all for your replies and I still love him more than anything so please do not worry I am not upset. I have 4 children all under 10 so my patience level is extremely high :-) I have included a few pics of my baby. |

| He is very cute! Looks like a stuffed animal himself!! My neutered male humps as well, He was neutered as a very young puppy and he started humping at about 4 months or so. It's normal, Females do it too. My westie humps my standard poodle! |
