Gus-Gus Erin..what is Gus-Gus wearing in his avatar? |
I don't plan on buying a puppy from divapup. I just thought it was interesting that they had a "rare white yorkie" on their website which someone else posted here. It turns out that the pups dad was a registered Maltese and the mom was half maltese half yorkie. So the pup is only 1/4 Yorkie but this lady says shes a "rare white yorkie" who costs $3250! It's outrageous! I still might get a Yorktese if a breeder of Yorkies and Malteses maybe has an accident. You never know and it will be a reputable breeder none the less. |

Sorry, I have to disagree, I do not believe that a responsible breeder has accidents. I know that most people I know realize when their bitch is in heat and knows to keeps them seperate from others. IMO |
accidents I had an accidental breeding with a red poodle I was taking care of once. Lucky, and he got lucky, was a dear boy, he stayed in my familyroom with a Yorkie girl, Tessa. I never saw a breeding, I never saw any signs of heat..9 weeks later I saw two light red, orange pups come out of her. I beat myself up over it...then at Mattaponi dog show, the President of our Yorkieclub had a pen set up with some pups in it..they were obviously not purebred anything..she said they were her accidental breeding between her Yorkie and Shih Tzu..I told her about my "Porkies" ..it happens. Lucky's owner told me whenever he turned the corner to come up my street, Lucky went bonkers! Lucky never got the pleasure of being near my girls again. It happens to some mighty reputable people..over and over is another story. |
I guess my problem is I have seen many people say they have accidents, but that accident happens several times. Most people I know do know when their bitch is in heat. I know when Isis is, there are far more sings than smell or blood. I gess that accidents that are accidents do happen. But more and more it is a non accident, and these people claim to have hybrid pups and sell them for serious money for I am sorry to say this but a mutt. (i love all dogs, mutt or not). Pat over the last few weeks as I have been a member I do see you have a fairly high standard for breeding, and I am sorry if I offended you. I just really have seen so many "accidents" I find them hard to believe. |

accidents You can not offend me. I add my two cents for what it is worth. IF a breeder has repeated accidents, then it is time to re-organize. |
I read about one breeder who was expecting yorkie puppies (she breeds yorkies and malteses) She knew her Yorkie was pregnant and she thought they were Yorkies. People put deposits down on puppies and when they arrived, it turned out the dad was her maltese. I don't think accidents happen often, but I'm sure they happen once and awhile. And I have nothing against mutts anyways. If someone wants to breed and sell a mix puppy then go for it. If someone is willing to buy it and the breeder is reputable, then why not? |
I'm not a breader , but as far a i know there is no such thing as a white yorkie. This lady is trying to make a quick buck. Yes you can have a little white on a yorkie and i have seen it normally under the chin area.. I think it becuse they have so many differnt colouring. Tan , silver black , blue. I don't belive that puppy is a full maltese but it could be mix with yorkie. I would not purchse a puppy from a person that breeds lots of dogs. At lease that way you will always feel better and not wonder if it was mixed. |
Hi All! I'm new to the site and definately not a yorkie expert. It might be a maltese, I don't know, but I have done a lot of reading regarding yorkie puppies and checking their lineage to see if they were line-bred or inbred. Anyway, I came across a few articles and they said that there have been instances when a brother and sister were bred together that most of the litter would be nice quality pups, but there would be one that was all white with dark eyes (not albino). Apparently this phenomenon happens in different types of dogs as well (such as dobermans, boxers, and I can't remember the other one). So, it might really be a white yorkie that was the result of inbreeding. Either way, it would definately be advisable to steer clear of it!! |

Cute picture... :) |
I saw that white yorkie on her site a few weeks ago and I think it is adorable. If you notice, she has it listed in her Maltese pups for sale as a rare white yorkie. I really want to express my concern about these pups she sells. Last summer I purchased a female yorkie from miami from seasideyorkie.com and I was looking for a boy yorkie and that is when i discovered seasideyorkie puppies pictures were listed on divapups site, except she doubles the price. As I watched over a period of months, I noticed seaside yorkie had sooooo many litters of new yorkies. Like two litters a month.....I'm wondering is this considered a pupppy farm? I asked seaside yorkies about the double pictures and the excess of litters, and she said she has 12 yorkies in her home, and when she can't sell she sellers to divapup. Anyone else ever experienced this? :aimeeyork |
Sure! Divapups is a broker. They say so on their site. They say they have high standards that their breeders must meet to advertise with them and they would probably tell you what those were if you called. Because of their marketing, they mark the price up because now the breeder and DivaPups have to make some money to keep the business profitable. I have seen the same pups on PuppyFind and the prices are different. DivaPups tacks on their "commission" so to speak from the sale and if the sale is made through them they earn their commission... if not they don't. Does that make sense? |

Seaside I know nothing about Diva pup or Seaside, but I do know what common sense tells me if I had an excess of pups and could not sell them. I would cut back on my litters until I had more inquires for pups...or reduce the price until they do sell from my home...or even give a "Leftover" away if it happens...or keep it as a pet. There is never a good excuse for selling to a broker. |

When I called about a yorkie I saw on seasideyorkie.com I started asking about there yorkies and we asked the size of the parents and if the 2 dogs we liked were from the same litter and stuff and he said well I am not shure I have 27  breeding dogs and 4 litters going right know so I am not shure. We asked him what kind of problems are common in yorkies and he just got all offensive and said my yorkies have no problems why would you think that and there are no problems I know of that yorkies get. But we just asked what were the common problems. Good breeders out there know about common problems dogs have like bullterriers are common to getting skin, and ear problems. yorkies can get teeth problems liver shunt and you have to be carefull with there legs cause they can dislocate them so why could he not just tell me this. I would not recomend getting a dog from this breeder but that is just my thoughts. To many dogs to have enough time to spend with and give enough love to. |
when we brought sirius home he had no white on him at all. well here at 12 weeks he is begaining to have white come down his chest and down his front feet and legs he is pure breed. the vet even did a dna test for me. on a closer look you can tell he has tickling under the white fur. the vet said he is parti colored. neither parnet had white. i made it a point to see both of them and all. he is my baby and would not change him for the world. as a matter of fact i would love to have another accidental parti. maybe one day :D |
Whatever she is, Opal sure is a beauty! Her face and legs certainly look Yorkie. Enjoyed looking at the picture, but WOW what a price! Christi (& Cooper) |
Seaside yorkies http://www.seasideyorkies.com now go to the site and look down the page and isnt it weird how sugar and betty look identical they both have the right ear sticking straight out and the left ear floppy and the hair above there nose and between there eyes is light. To me it looks like the same dog but he has it advertised as 2 different dogs. There are so many people out there to rip you off  |
Ok, I went to the site and all I can say is any breeder who advertises "tea cup" yorkies, is to be avoided. They are breeding and trying to sell the small ones, as you can see they are asking more for the tiny ones. Buy from breeders who you are comfortable with and who answer your questions honestly. They are more interested in finding their puppies good homes then trying to make buyers hear what they want...Theresa & The Boys :dog: |
You're right, Haley. It's the same dog. For the last puppies, Ginger and Benji, they used the same picture. LOL Stewiesmom, with the way he acts sometimes a straight jacket could come in handy! :D |

Hey guys! I just started read this thread this morning, so I am a little late! We purchased our baby from Seaside Yorkies. The reason we decided to go with them was because they are in Miami and I was able to go and visit their home and meet their dogs. They DO have a lot of yorkies, from how it looked, most of them are just pets, and not used for breeding (but what do I know really, I was only there twice). I delt with the mans wife, who was really informative and really in charge of caring for the puppies. When I picked up my baby, she (the wife) was actually about to go into the hospital for some serious medical condition. She is in the hospital now, and he is in charge. From what she said to me when I met her, he is pretty clueless about the dogs and she was worried. NOW, I know this is NO EXCUSE for him to not answer people's questions. I also am not happy about the fact that they are selling their dogs to a broker. That is very sad. :( Luckily though, my baby is doing wonderful. She weighs 4.3lbs and the vet says she is a good healthy puppy. SO, even though I may decide to get my next yorkie (yes, next ;) ) elsewhere, I really can't complain about my Esme. |
White Yorkies I don't really know about it that well, but my best friend has two yorkies and one of them was a white puppy, and she was white for a while, but now she has a strawberry blond head and paws, and a grayish-white body. She turned out to be beautiful. If you aren't positively sure that the parents are your puppy's, and she stays white her whole live, she might be a westie. So, either way you are going to have a great friend for life.:) |

I have one maltese that never shows any signs of heat, no blood, no nothing, the vet says she has silent heat, so I could see it happening when a dog has silent, becuase there is not signs. When we had a Golden Retv. male in the house he would let me know before she come in, and now that we don't have the golden anymore, I know about when she will come in watch her and most of the time she will start flaging, (sometimes my husband) LOL that is the only sign we have. (If I had a male inside it would be to late.) So yes I can see it happening. |
guys, this thread is three years old.;) |
yes indeedddd i got my yorkie a week ago...and he's black and gold but has white hairs...and ive searched and searched and it is true...they do turn white when they get older..but not fully white... just greyish white i suppose. |
Esme's Mommy, I just wanted to say that my mother's name is Esme, so I think it is really cute that you have a yorkie named Esme. :D As for Divapups, there are too many red flags for me. Teacup, broker, the price, the lack of consideration for where the puppies go, the many different breeds, etc. I wouldn't buy from them. There are so many great breeders out there, why not support them instead. Hehe, I read that this post is very old, but wanted to add my 2 cents for future reference. I wonder if the OP eventually got a pup from them. |
