I got SO cussed out today ...Oh WELL !
 

I was at a Red light today on a BUSY intersection. What do I see but a CAGE stacked with tiny puppies ....people were selling them on the side of the road.

How sick is THAT ?

I pulled over and asked them if I could look at them and asked if they had they're shots....the woman said yes. So I asked for paperwork ....and she said Why ? LOL - Sure....I JUST BET they had their shots :mad: Just by her reaction I know they didn't.

So I then proceeded to ask them why they're selling them like this - why doesn't she put an AD in the paper like everyone else does ? I DID try to be nice.

The puppies were terrified just 3 feet away from traffic and after I said that ...she cussed me up oneside and down another AND pegged me the finger lol !! :eek:

I was so pissed that I looked at her and said I thought she should be arrested for abuse because that is NO way to treat live animals.....Then I called her a Cheap Low Life for not putting an ad in the paper ...she was traumatizing those puppies with all the noise and heat.

I mean a FRUIT stand is one thing...but puppies ?

So today I guess I made my point to deaf ears.....it might have been pretty funny if I wasn't so pissed seeing those poor tiny puppies shaking so hard and just scared out of their minds....They'd been there ALL day because a friend said she saw them too.

THIS is how people get puppies that end up dying from parvo and who knows what else. Houston should NOT let people sell puppies on the side of the road.

OMG- That witch! I sure hope you were less-than-pleasant back to her! I can't understand why someone would do that? I don't know what kind of mind thinks that selling puppies on the side of the road is okay.

And I have a ? Were they free or was she actually selling them?! (How much?)

We have a "Puppy Stand " too. I wish someone would stop them. I just don't understand how they can let these things happen.
Does Animal Control not know they're there? :mad:

Goodness! I have never heard of such a thing! How awful, was she that hard up for some quick cash ? Where was the police when needed?

No kidding. It has to be WAY to hot to have them in the sun. And don't they need some type of permit around there? Over here we need a permit JUST to have a yard sale.

It DID feel good...I was nice till she flipped me the Bird .. a TWO HANDED Bird at that!! lol -

I'm going to call the Humane Society tommorrow - I don't know if they need or have permits but it's just sick - I've seen it before but hadn't stopped. It seems Sundays are now "Let's go sell a puppy on the road" day here.

One time I was driving down the road and saw a sign that said 'LAB Puppies HERE'.....i thought they were Labratory puppies and stopped cause I wanted to smack the people sitting there - it turned out they were Labrador RETRIVERS............yes...I'm blond.

I didn't make any friends that day either. :p

We didn't quite get into prices if you know what I mean....they were not free I do know that.

and many times the people doing this have given these puppies NO shots...no nothing. A friend bought a dog at a flea market like this....that poor thing died within a month of parvo.

Good for you for at least stopping and giving her a piece of your mind! You should have shoved her in one of the cages, and said "how do you like that b***h!!' Okay...I'm starting to get violent :D Terrible woman!

OMG Villette! You go girl! Atleast you stopped and told her how you felt! I don't think people are allowed to sell puppies like that here. But unfortunatly they still do sometimes. It just breaks my heart. Its nice to know that there are people like us around to put them in there place. :thumbup: :thumbup:

I would have called the cops tho...I'm not sure about Houston, but around here in SF, it's illegal to sell things fruits, trinkets, or puppies on the side of the street without a permit. If she was too cheap to takeout an ad, chances are, she never got a street vendor permit from the city.

That is horrible! :( We're very proud of what you did, Villette, someone does indeed need to take a stand against that kind of abuse!

I would think one would need a license to sell anything on the side of the street, right? Do you think calling the police would have at least gotten them in trouble or at least stopped them from selling the poor animals that way? Also, do you think the local animal cruelty places could stop them as well?

Exactly what I was thinking! You can't sell anything without a license, so how does this "thing" (no caring person would EVER treat any animal this way) get away with this?

Good for you! Maybe they will be hesitant before doing this again. Its so sad to think how some pups are brought into this world! It makes me sick!

Wow Villette! I'm so proud of you! Poor little innocent puppies...I hope they all got sold today and are in new homes with loving new families!

I totally understand why you had to say something and totally commend you in doing so. I can't imagine how angry it must have made you to see this and after being told a few obscene words i would have been heated also. More power to you. :thumbup:

At least you said something Villette, that just breaks my heart. What makes me even MADDER is the dumb people who actually get puppies from them and then give them away when they cant afford the vet bills. Its the dog that suffers through and through. You know they wouldn't be doing it if it didn't make them $$$$$. People are so infuriating!!!

Well Villette...I have to applaud your self-restraint....they'd be calling the police on ME! I can't believe thats even allowed! Those poor puppies....shaking head...give me two minutes under a bridge with Miss Cruella Deville.... :mad:

What about the Houston SPCA? I watch them all the time on Animal Planet. They are my favorites out of all the "Animal Cops" shows they have on. I think that would be a good thing for them to not only look into, but to video for one of their segments on Animal Planet. I see them raiding puppy mills and animal hoarders a lot but I have not seen them stopping people who are selling puppies along the side of the road.

Good for you Villette! I think I would have been dialing the cops with one hand and returning her salute with the other (from the relative safety back in my car). I can't believe that people think doing this kind of crap is okay. Stupid people are sickening.
