Good job Villette!!!! Down here in Victoria, people sell puppies frequently in front of Lowes. I've been tempted to stop, almost did one day last week when I thought the pups may be yorkies, but when I got closer, they weren't, just something with similiar colors. I don't know if they require a permit or not, would think they do because you can't have a garage sale without one. You be careful there in Houston. You need to make your point, but don't take chances. We kinda care about you around here!!!! |
WOW V, way to go. Hey over on my side of town- go into any Wal-Mart parking lot on the weekends and you will see pups for sale. During the week of Valentine's, I think every store parking lot had people selling pups next to the flower stands. It is depressing. I doubt there is a law against it. This is TEXAS you know, the Wild Wild West. |

I'm calling Ernie of the Houston Animal Cops....They ROCK and really respond quickly. I had to report a neighbor last year....and after emailing them pictures of the condition of the dog - they came out and took him into custody in 2 days...(I still have the pictures - they would make you sick to see)....and he and I became sort of friends.... So yes...today I will be making phone calls and see if I can get those people stopped...My friend said she has seen the same people on that corner before. :( |

We have that here too! At grocery stores...or rather outside grocery stores in the grassy area. The stores say it is not their property so they cannot ask them to leave. I say that if they can stop panhandlers from asking for money there and ask them to leave they can ask these puppy sellers to leave. Those pups never look very healthy! Yea! Villette...at least you got to confront one...if more did that..but heck they would just move to another place!!! Awful people!!!!!!!!!!! |
In Tulsa where I shop a lot, one of the main shopping areas is on 71st. There is a big mall there so everything else has moved out there. Lots & lots of traffic on weekends. Many times I have seen people on the grassy areas along 71st street selling puppies. Most of them look like individuals who have a litter of pups and want to sell them. I don't know why they don't advertise them in the paper. I guess it isn't against the law or the cops just overlook it. |
O my goodness. That is crazy. I have never ever seen such a thing. |

Rock on V!! Im hoping you werent the only person that pointed out to her what she was doing was WRONG- that way she'll realize that shes going about it in the worst way possible...who does that?!?! its so appalling. Let us know that the humane society has to say. Also, this is kinda a stupid question, but on animal planet, arent those animal cops from houston??? they need to get on the ball!! or hire you  |

In Katy on Mason Road on the weekends there are all kinds of people selling puppies on the side of the road. And Mason Road is a very busy street, and it is not against the law to do it either unless the property owners turn them in for traspassing. I think it very sad. |
Hey Villette! Let all of us know what you find out when they answer your email. We're all anxious to hear. Good for you for speaking up! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: Muffie - Missy - Cherie - Chanel (your personal cheer leaders) |
Way to go Villette! I'm happy that you told her the truth, someone had to. :cheer: :woof: :yay_jump: :clapsmile (I have an emotional attachment to these new smilies... :2hearts2: ) |
I've never seen that before! How sad!! They have to have street vender permits in Jersey, maybe that's why you don't see it here. That and the drivers up here are nuts!! If they do it all the time and are making money at it, you KNOW they aren't reporting the income. Maybe you can go at them from that angle, Villette. |
V, I didn't notice who posted this thread so I fully expected it to say this had happened in PA. The Amish sell puppies on the side of the road like this all the time. And, at flea markets (NO PUN INTENDED) they sell them. I am surprised we are not having to hold an auction to bail you out of jail....you gettem, Tiger...go get Ray-Ray and offer them a trade....LOL |
