My Ginger used to do this all the time. Especially whenever someone would "baby talk" to (or AT) her. She'd be fine and someone would start off by saying "Oh, isn't she a little cutsie pie"" or something in a baby like voice. She'd pee all over the place! For some reason, the UPS guy was her main target!! He got to the point tht he'd just knock on the door, leave the package and RUN to his truck!! People see a small dog, think it's cute, get all squishy, talk to it all cutsie-wootsie and get peed on. She has since grown out of it. Thank God. Good Luck. I'm sure she'll stop soon. People here are right when they say just to ignore her for a few minutes. That worked for Ginger. Course, my husband had a problem with it. He hated ignoring her when he'd first get home! Kept his shoes dry tho!!! Suz |
My Eskie did that when she was little and thank goodness she's grown out of it! Now when she gets excited she makes a high pitched squeal like some kind of a seal or something. I don't know which is worst!! :p |
Bailey does this also when we come home from work. I remember reading in a past thread that this is a sign of submission which would totally make sense. Althought Bailey is a year old, he has not outgrown this habit yet. |
Tucker is a total excited pee-er! We have to tell people to ignore him when they come in or he pees all over them. It is so gross. I hope he does outgrow it. |
To New Yorkie Ma and Pa When you say you try to wait until he pees to let him out are you saying out of a kennel? Puppies do not want to soil their own sleeping quarters so it would be natural for him to wait. Just take him outside or place him on a potty pad when you take him out. |
Mojo did this several times when he was younger - and it was only the times that we made a fuss about coming home and seeing him. Now, he gets excited to see us, but does not dribble. So, they do outgrow it. |
Our little girl is 6 yrs old and never outgrew it yet, she's only 5 lbs. We don't fuss when we come home as not to get her too excited and just let her come to us and she's ok. |
