Heartbroken... As you all know my babies went to nuetered/spayed on Friday (Lowie our girl and Chowie our boy) Both of them just turned 6 months (different litters and 5 days apart in age). The Dr. gave us specific instructions to keep them calm and settled and we did just that by having them stay in their X-pen/crate area. :) No jumping, no rough housing, no running up and down steps, etc. Well later on the NEXT evening I checked on them before going to our in-laws for dinner. (Let me first explain that our dogs where bells on their easy-break-off collars just so we know where they are at all times as we continue to house train them and build trust. ;)) So as I go upstairs, quietly so as not to disturb them, I hear their bells jingling which is what tends to happen when they hear us coming because they walk up and jump around the edge of the X-pen ready to greet us. NOT WHAT THE DR RECOMMENDED!! UGH!!! :thumbdown So I peak into the room that was 90% closed hoping they are just eating or getting water and much to my SUPRISE... Chowie, Momma's baby boy, was LOVING Lowie, Daddy's little girl!!!! WHAT IN THE HECK IS GOING ON??? One day after having surgery and they are GETTING IT ON??? I was in COMPLETE shock. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE???? She is not in heat, OBVIOUSLY, and they got fixed A DAY AGO??? How can this happen between MY PRECIOUS INNOCENT BABIES??? WWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYY? ?? To make matters worse he is becoming erect all the time now!!! Please someone tell me how this happened... I honestly thought they only had sex when she would be in heat... Ok, minus the dramatics  , I really had no idea and I am kind of repeled that babies so young could "do it". Can anyone relate??? Does this mean they were doing it before or was fixing them, giving them the red light to "do it"? |
I honestly do not know what to tell you. But I can only imagine the look on your face when you saw them...!!!!! OMG! I only have 2 boys, so I am of no help! But I feel bad for ya! |
  WOW they sure recovered fast.... |
Oh my!! I can't help you with this because I have never had this done (spaying/nuetering) - I just wanted to let you know that I am sure that someone else has had this happen and can relate to your shock! - You are so funny, the way you wrote it!!! |

Are they literally mating or just practicing? I didn't think a female would "accept" a male unless in heat. We did own a beagle that continued AFTER he was neutered, but this was with intact females. Trace was far humpier before he was neutered than after.....he still does it, but not nearly as often. Good luck :D |
It can take several weeks for the male hormones to be completely gone. Sounds like he is trying to "get it while the gettin's good". |

To answer your questions about humping or mating, he was ontop of her in "the" position". When they heard me, they broke it up and due to SHOCK  , I actually felt his pee-pee and it had quite a bit of moisture on it. I swear had I not lost my MIND  I would not have touched it but I just had to verify it was REALLY HAPPENING!!!! |

OMG!!!!! LOL Sorry to laugh, but I'm looking at it this way, There's no way they are in any pain!!! Did you call and ask the Vet what's going on? Hope YOU feel better soon. |
I am soooo sorry! I can only imagine how you must be feeling. I hope everything works out and you aren't too traumatized! |
For their own safety and to not reopen the wound, I would keep them seperated or even crated when no one is home. Poor things didn't know what was going on...and yes, I've had yuck in my hand before, too! Not a pleasant feeling, I tell ya! |

HAHAHAHA! I am so sorry! I am not laughing...Well kinda. I don't know what you tell you. He lost his balls and became horney!!!! Whew! I hope they calm down! |
Sounds just like little human boys playing with themselves in the bathtub! :D |
My eight-week old pup was in love with a stuffed cat (and still is). And my four-year-old Bichon is madly in love with a stuffed dog. They hump these stuffed toys every once in a while. They are both neutered - and their behavior is totally normally. I just have to remember to move these stuffed animals before any company comes over. Perhaps your little guy was a little stimulated by whatever pain or discomfort he was experiencing. I certainly wouldn't worry about it - but, think it would be good to separate them for now. As you said - they are not following the doctor's orders. I think sometimes we just have to remember that our dogs "are dogs." Carol Jean |
You all are too funny... LMAO... :lol tears, thank you everyone for being so supportive during this difficult time. |
Chattiesmom was right. All that testosterone doesn't disappear overnight. It takes time. I forget exactly how long. Maybe as long as a week or two.... |

Oh yeah. Higgins is fixed and still humps his old puppy blankie, so we named the blankie "Susie." I had a poodle/terrier mix female that was fixed and she just LOVED to have the neutered male Dachshund down the street hop right on her! I called the vet and asked him if he had taken all her reproductive innards out? He replied, "Well, if you had a hysterectomy, it wouldn't mean you didn't want to do it any more. Some dogs are just sexy!" But the real topper is this: I had a fixed female Chihuahua and a fixed female Maine Coon Cat. Those two broads humped each other all the time!!!!! Now THAT was funny! The REAL Odd Couple! Mary Ellen |
ROFL!!!! Really funny! LoL!!!! I'm just imagining your face :D LoL!!! That's an amazing recovery for sure :) WoW! |

I would say if they are both now "fixed" and they weren't totally locked together - they would have gotten turned end to end - you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Others are right about the hormone thing - takes time. Just wondering if you ran any of this by your vet? As for the humping, I have heard it is a sign of dominance. My female will hump my male - never the other way around! LOL ;) :aimeeyork :) Yorkiesmiles |
Yuck...Bongos...Ninnies! You've really expanded my vocabulary, Kimberley! :D Dublin has his one toy that that he humps. Not much and not for long, but when he comes up to the bed room for the night, he hops on does a quick humpity hump, then jumps in bed. Kinda' like hes' saying goodnight! Thank goodness he's never tried with Widget! He's at least twice her size! |
I went thru something exactly like that.. me and my hubby went to pick them up at the vet by train, and we have a pet stroller so we put my boy and girl in and he was arched and just humping air..lol... then he started mounting her.. it was so embarresing.. we where onthe train, he was going at it. i wanted to die, we put a baby blanket over the opeing so people couoldnt see what was happening. and i couldnt seperate them because you have to keep pet in a cage while on the train. So i had to rock the stroller back and forth so nobody would notice. and once we got home he would be standing and humping air, it eventually went away about a week later, and happens when he sees that she get all rild up when barking at strangers.. :shocked7q |
