Hi CPG, I'm in Austin too!!! I agree that most breeders in this area let their pups go at 7-8 weeks. We are getting a brother for Rowdy next week (well not exactly a brother, same dad, different mom - acutally the mom is the daughter of Rowdy's mom - whew! that's a little confusing). Anyway, the breeder is letting them go at 7-8 weeks. We got Rowdy from her at 7-8 weeks also and he did just fine. I agree, it probably would be better if she kept them till 12 weeks, but that's just the way it is. We love Rowdy to pieces and he is the sweetest, cutest, little loving guy so we wanted another from the same parents. |

I agree with this statement. I think they do need some time alone - but I also know that some just really put up a fuss when they are alone, no matter what. When Rowdy was a baby, he slept in a crate at night. I got up early each morning, fed him, took him out, and then put him in an x-pen in the den by himself where he stayed till my (retired and sick) hubby got up about 9:00-10:00am and let him out for the rest of the day. I don't know if this had anything to do with it or not, but now Rowdy is just fine staying by himself - he doesn't have any separation anxiety at all. |
I'm So Happy For You! Xena is doing great, except she sleeps with us, which is something I thought my husband would never allow. He LOVES her to pieces. It was his idea. She's so tiny, I was afraid we'd roll over on her, but so far so good! Good luck with your new baby! |
congrats on your new angel & welcome to yt!!!!! I got my ava at just under 8 weeeks and she is nearly 4 months now & totally weewe pad trained! |

I think we will try to same routine with the new little guy - let him sleep in the crate for the first few weeks and then let him in bed with us. Good thing we have a king sized bed as we will have Rowdy, our geriatric Schnauzer, and the new pup!!! :p Will there be room for us??? |
