Your yorkie is so cute!!! I don't think you need to worry about him not barking.. Maybe he is trying to get used to the new home and being shy!!! :) Once he gets to know you... he will show his color.. I mean some dogs are quiet... and that should be fine too :) :) |
Your yorkie is cute. Could he have possibly been debarked by the breeder? |
I got my pup when he was 8 weeks old and he almost never barked (but because he did a few times - I knew he knew how). He's about 6 months old now, and he has never turned into much of a barker...but does occasionally. I'm sure some Yorkies just bark more than others. But, also the environment they are in certainly must affect the amount they bark. I live alone with a very quiet Bichon (who barks very little), and I don't think my little Yorkie has a lot to bark about. I'll bet if I had more people living here and children running in and out and playing - he'd join right in and bark a lot more than he does now. Don't worry - you may just have a more laid back quiet little Yorkie than some people have. Carol Jean **** Why would breeders "debark" little puppies. It is a surgery they'd have to pay for - and they aren't keeping the puppies so why would their barking bother them -- and most people wouldn't want this done in the first place. I can't imagine a breeder doing this for no good reason...... |
Your yorkie is soooooo cute love the ears!!! you jsut wait a few and he'll start barking. I got my yorkie when he was 7 months old and he hardley made a sound when i brought him home. But now if it's not me or his papa or grandparents he barks like crazy especially if i'm right there (I assume he's trying to protect his mama) Enjoy the peace and quiet while you can lol :D |
barking Zoe is three and still rarely barks. She's not hyper at all. She is just right for us. Weezer :) |

Ah, that was my boyfriend 'Nyoneway.' He was logged onto my name by accident. I'd never kick the poor thing -- even if it's by accident! ;] |

Enjoy the peace while you can :D LoL! I'm sure you'll hear the barking soon enough :) |
My Bichon wouldn't make a sound if I accidently hurt him (he knows how to bark - but he's just very quiet - most of the time). On the other hand, if I accidentally hurt my Yorkie - only a tiny little bit - he'd act like he's being killed. He is really a wimp - when it comes to a little pain. Carol Jean |
my little one was a non-barker for a while too! the first time i heard him bark was when he was dreaming... he let out some soft barks and paddled his feet on my lap, sleeping... it's so funny. and he does bark like a bird chirp too. i say... savor it while you can!!!! |
Here's my advice: Wait 3 weeks. If he still isn't barking, give me a call and we can trade Yorkies!!! ;) :p |
