Dogs don't forget their owners THAT easily. Before I had my furbie, my family and I used to dogsit a beagle. His name was Snoopy. His family would go overseas for vacation and he'd stay with us. We loved Snoopy and he loved food. He was a dog that's totally food-motivated. He'd be happy where there's food. That was for the first couple of days. By the fourth day of their seven-day trip, he'd sit by the door, watching, waiting. He'd cry and whine. He even stopped eating! When his family came back, he was jumping, pawing, just in cloud-nine. false well that is false most deffinitly. the last time i saw china before i picked her up was four months and when i got there to get her she ran right up to me and wanted me to pick her up so who ever told you that was wrong. |
Definitely MYTH!!! There have been many stories of dogs lost for years who find their way back home or who see their owners again and remember them. Like someone else said...they may settle in to a new home and love those people too but they'll never forget the others they have loved and who loved them!! Puppy love is forever!!! |

My Bichon is shy - especially so around any new person who comes to the house -- but he never forgets anyone he has met before. I had a girlfirend come over whom he met over a year ago -- and he was thrilled to see her again. She got a lot of jumps and kisses when she first walked through the door. There is no doubt that he remember her. ===== He does this all the time - so I know he remembers people very well. I adopted my 2 Yorkies from my daughter's dance teacher 2 yrs ago and whenever I take them to the studio they definitely remember their original owner and her mother. When I go out of town the dance teacher's parents still take the Yorkies for us - which is so great, no boarding fees and they get to go back to the house where they once lived and I know they are being loved. But, number one they remember their previous home and the people there, and they are always excited to go over there. But the welcome I get when I return, can not be replaced!! Bubba and Roxy get so excited and my face is wiped clean with kisses :kiss2: :kiss: and they practically dance to the car - just so we can get home for more loving. :heart to And I've left them several times for about 8-9 days at a time. When I was about 18, I joined the Army. We had a little Jack Russel at home. I was gone for 6 months at a time and he ALWAYS remembered me when I came home on leave. He'd be outside the front door, looking like he had a big smile on his face and wagging his whole butt!! I loved that little guy! He lived to be 17 years old. He was such a character. He used to sit on the Zebra crossing and wait for the cars to stop for him! The local butcher used to give him bones bigger than he was :D LoL! I don't believe that dogs ever forget the ones they love. I don't think there's a time limit on it either. :D |
Dogs are cute! I left my 3-year-old dog for the first time and was gone for two weeks. It was the first time in her life she hadn't slept with me. I can't describe how much I missed her and couldn't wait to get back home. When I got home - she was so excited and went absolutely crazy, jumping, kissing me, running around, and so on. This lasted for about ten minutes and then she got in her favorite chair with her favorite toy and acted like I had never been gone. Are we taken for granted or what!!!!!! Carol Jean |
