How often do you bath your yorkie? Was wondering how often everyone bathed their furbabies? I tend to bath Pippa every fortnight but she could do with it one a week to look her best. But shes not keen :p |
I bathe mine once a week. My 2 year old could use it before the week is up, but the puppy can do fine with one time a week. So far this has been fine, we have never had a problem with dry skin or flaking. The little one hasn't gotten the hang of all this yet (she is 16 weeks old). We are still not crazy about the water or the dryer. Big sister hates her face washed but is good about everything else. I take the older one to the groomer, she hates to have her nails clipped so I gave up and went back to let them handle that. I am so far grooming little girl myself with my husbands assistance. I plan to do this until she atleast gets a little older, maybe forever if it continues to work out. Telea, big sister Zoe' and baby Mia :p |
Sunday is bath day at our house, Unless it is really cold.. like yesterday. No bath yesterday. |
I bath mine every week but in the winter (like now) i bath them every other week because their skin gets too dried out. |
about once a week, just depends on the situation. Immediately after a playdate though, oye doggy smells galore! |
Forgot to say Pippa hates the dryer so we sit in front of fire til she dries :p |
My girl gets bathe every week. There is no compromising. |
Josie gets a bath about every 10 days. If we do it once a week, she gets too dry, but every 2 weeks she looks pretty stringey! Every ten days is just about perfect! |
We usually do it once a week. Ten days in betweet baths tops. :) |
Bugaboo Says: TOO OFTEN! |
I try to do it every sunday but sometimes I get to busy, so I would say about every 7-10 days. |
every 2 weeks for now, sometimes everyweek if she needs it |
Every week. I take her into the shower with me. If she's in the bath by herself, she tries to jump out. If she's in the bathroom with me and I'm taking a shower, she tries to jump in. Sooooo, I just started taking her into the shower with me. I wash myself, then her. She doesn't try to jump out. She just keeps me company. :) |
Punkin starts to get greasy after 4 or 5 days and smelly doggy. We've been bathing her every week or so. The vet just told us that it's waaaayyy too much and that every 6 months or so is good. She suggested rubbing her down with a wet wash cloth every couple of weeks. Ewwww - we might be able to stretch the time in between, but I don't think we can go half a year! |
I give mia a bath once a week if i don't her hair looks terrible ! we are letting it grow long and it really is a lot of work but she looks so pretty :D |
Usually once a week. |
Every Wednesday and sometimes if they play outside alot then once more!! |
I bathe her when she needs it, sometimes every two weeks, sometimes every week. It just depends on what she has been up too and what she has gotten into! The longest I've gone between baths was 4 weeks and that was when my daughter was a newborn. I did not have time to bathe myself let alone bathe Gracie too! That's when I decided to just bring her in the shower with me. It was a great way for us to get one-on-one time together when Mia was a newborn! I still do that every now and then when I am having a hectic week, sometimes I have Mia and Gracie both in the shower with me at the same time!!! |
Bath time Mine get a bath every two weeks give or take a day or two. Unless it's very cold. I also groom them every two weeks..... :) |
every 6 months?! that is craziness. i mean, imagine if a PERSON didn't wash their hair for 6 months.....it's the same thing, only it's their whole body. henry gets a bath once a week, usually on monday mornings. i read in a yorkie book that it was okay if you bathe them twice a week? seems like a lot, but maybe it depends on the yorkie and whether their skin drys out or not. i have been using johnsons baby shampoo on henry and his skin doesn't flake anymore. |
I bathe Chachi and Jewels every two weeks |
About every 7 - 10 days. |
Sully gets a bath once a week....but we put it off when we can an extra day or two. Basically, he gets a bath when he starts stinkin' LOL. He gets really dry skin and so we hate to give him a bath too often if we can help it. |

I bath mine once a week in the summer and try and stretch it out to two weeks in the winter. |
Edie sleeps on her Dad's pillow. When it starts to stink, he gives her a bath!! :p Usually once a week, although in the winter, we'll go longer. Sometimes she gets into a mud puddle or something, and we have to give her a bath no matter where we are in the schedule. |
Any suggestions on making hair softer and smoother??? My baby has some nappy hair (ha ha). Yesterday i put some biolage conditioner on him and it seemed to help some, but for as much hair as we have between the both of us i can't see us both using 15 dollar conditioner. (i can only imagine how much it would cost) thx. |
My first groomer told me once a week was too much, so I switched to once a month...then I checked in here...then I switched groomers. Ginger now gets her bath & blowdry every Saturday morning so that she can look pretty for her agility class...she usually stays pretty fresh looking for most of the week, depending on what she gets into. I use a puppy shampoo (although, when this is gone, I'm going to try CC) because its mild and doesnt' bother her eyes. I believe the only time I've had a problem with her skin was food related. One bath a week hasn't bothered her at all. |
Mojo gets his bath about once every week to two weeks (just depending). I normally do his teeth anywhere from 3 times a week to once a week. We try for atleast twice a week, but sometimes that doesn't happen. I do not trim his nails though....never could bring myself to do it....but the groomer does it every month or if I go to the vet, they do it (free). I have used some kind of shampoo from PetsMart or Wal-Mart or PetCo....I think it is Hartz brand, but it has beads in it and it makes his hair smell so nice and soft and shiny.......I know some might frown on a cheap shampoo, but for him, it has worked nicely. - Until I find something else that we like. |
My vet told me in Colorado where it is so dry, I should only bathe Starsky once a month. I usually go up to 3 weeks, depending how dirty he gets or sticky around the mouth. When it gets warmer I may start every 2 weeks. |
