i dunk romeo in the sink every sunday. 1 x @ week seems good unless it's too cold out. in the summer sometimes more than once @ week. my little guy likes to find other dogs doo-doo and roll in it. gross. |
I bath Mitzi once a week too. It has done wonders for her coat. She's starting to shine!! :D :D :D Apparently she's a silky fingy too. No tangles in my baby's hair! She got used to the blow drier pretty fast. She likes it medium hot and the low speed. She'll sit on my lap and let me dry her anywhere except her face. That's good enogh for now. I'm making progress slowly around the ears, the more I blow dry her, the more she settles. |
Putting them in the shower with you sounds good!!!!!! :D As for blowdrying i wish Pippa would let me, i'm gonna try her again. She's due a bath as she hasn't had one for 2 weeks  as she was spayed 13 days ago and i bathed her the day before. So i'm off to bath her................. |
Good luck!! LOL! Try putting the blow drier on the lowest setting and just leave it near her for a while without using it on her. Maybe she'll get used to the noise. If i'm learning anything with yorkies, it's that sometimes persistence pays off. I've kept trying to dry her face, and she is letting me dry her ears now. It's taking time, but if I don't give up I think it might work. Obviously if it was terrifying for her I wouldn't do it. But she just seems a bit annoyed by the blowing on the face bit. LOL! |
Trixie's skin is very oily. The vet gave us medicated shampoo and told us to bathe her as often as we need. So I give her a bath every three days or so now. She smells so much better!!! |
I bring Luci in the shower, too. It's so much easier than the sink and she doesn't shiver in the shower because the water is constantly on her. Plus in the sink she gets slippery, so she's much easier to handle in the shower. She doesn't seem to mind it. She gets a shower every week or two. |
The shower idea sounds like a good one. I bathe Zoe about once a week, sometimes more, and she hates her bath. Last night she bit me when I was washing her face. And I mean bit, not playfully at all. She shivers like crazy, fights the brush and comb and hates the dryer. I just have to keep talking to her sweetly to try to calm her down and it definitely helps. The groomer said she was sweet with her, but that they are like kids bad for momma but good with other people. I keep telling her, she'd better get used to it. She's a YORKIE!! Only concern with the shower is that if she likes it, she will be wanting in all the time. :) She's such a brat!!! |
Coco's bath day is every friday. Sometimes I bath her twice a week, if she got dirty at the park or somewhere. I don't blow dry her because it causes dry skin but bathing her has never caused any problems for her, even at twice a week. I even wash her butt with soap and water everytime she goes pooppy and wash off her feet after she plays outside. (yes a neat freak here). But you figure, they are on your bed, your furniture, and I don't really want poop particles or outdoor germs all over my bed or couches or carpet. So she's clean as a whistle..lol |

Another clean freak here as well but much, much more. I don't care what the vet says, he gets his bath once a week. Gets his teeth brushed every night along with a thorough wipe down of his face, 4 paws, his thing and butt. Then I get his hair thoroughly brushed, give him 2 tablets of breath mints to eat and off to bed he goes (mine!). Everytime he goes (whether just to pee or to poop) he gets wiped as well - no miss here  . And he gets a new washcloth everyday, a new blanket on my bed every other day (eventually once a day when I have enough - still buying). :D I love the smell of snuggles )one with the lime green box) on my sheets so now he gets his stuff washed and smelling like one too . . just love it! Nobody probably can beat my being a neat freak except my husband (I learned form him).   Tiger sleeps with me and gets smothered way too much so I want to make sure he does not smell like a dog.   He used to get white flakes until I got him the CC products. Am not so thrilled though about the smell and the outcome of his coat but his flakes definitely went away so am keeping the shampoo but when it is all gone might try the coathandlers products. He was using Pet aromatic prior to cc products but that did not work wonders for his coat (loved the smell though). I just tried Aussie conditioners and the wonderful scent stays longer and his coat is very much improved - softer and silkier. Also bought the mane and tail conditioner to try on him and then compare. |
