I agree, she looks yorkie. But the older one, is it just me or does this little guy look so sad?! He is almost pitiful....I just want the pick him up and squeese him and kiss him all over. BTW, both are real cuties. :) |
Looks Yorkie to me The vet shouldn't have said that about the breed. I don't see anything that suggests your dog is a mix. May not be healthy and she looks like she feels under the weather but again vet should not have put in your mind you may have got a mix based on how your dog looks now. I don't know for sure what you mean by a toy yorkie. I thought they were all in toys. If you mean one of those very tiny 2 pound adults I would feel very happy if I were you if your guy gets bigger. Breeders aren't suppose to be breeding for tiny tiny. Standard says up to 7 pounds i believe but I wish they'd add something about them having to be over 3-4 pounds too. good luck |
Yea the other dog is a sweetie. He is not energetic/socialized at all, i doubt the breeder gives him any attention. And apparently he is 3pounds!!! (he's probably 9inches tall!!) Kiwi is 3months old (as we were told, I'm going to ask the vet to guestimate tomorrow after her medicine bath and further check-up) and weighs about 2.2 pounds. |
Joszacs: It was actually the receptionist that said something about the morkie, not the vet. Oh, when I say toy I mean under 7 pounds :} I don't want her to be too small either, as she may have weight problems, but I don't want her above 10 pounds with my lifestyle...Either way, I'm keeping her :] |
With the weight chart guesstimates..... I think you take their weight at 12 wks and times that by 2..... If that's correct, your girl should be a little over 4 lbs.... which is really small!!! But like others have stated, you never can tell for sure. She's just a doll! |
I think the above post is right...I don't think if she weighs only 2.2 lbs now at 12 weeks she should get over 7 lbs. My breeder told me the same thing that they should double at twelve weeks. My puppy is still with the breeder and was exactly 2 lbs at 8 weeks. The breeder has had several litters with this mother and most the puppys have been 5-7 lbs. And she thought our puppy would be 6 lbs...which is what we were hoping for. And like everybody else I see all yorkie. Most of the mixes there is always something that suggest another breed, ears, nose, coat...I don't see anything that doesn't look like most yorkie puppies. :) |

I would not listen to that receptionist. She looks all yorkie to me. |
She looks like a yorkie to me, too! Even if she is a little sick and small due to illness, I bet she will stay below 7#. She is adorable. Sometimes these little guys get a little sick from the move. Ours got kennel cough from the first time I took them in for their vet check. I let them walk on the floor on a leash. I never let any of my babies walk on the floor at the vet anymore. I take them in a carrier. |
Kiwi is such a cutie!!! She looks Yorkie to me, and even if she was a Morkie, she is still adorable and I would keep her. |
