Great post... I know I have left YT and only come in to check my PM's from found friendships here and to post rarely anymore. I have found some members have very strong opinions and they really don't care who they hurt to express them... :( Maybe in the future I will be back on a regular basis, but for now I rather not. I would still like to thank all the moderators and Admin for trying to keep everything fun loving... :D |
Kimberlly, first of all let me say thank you so much for everything you do for us YT folks. I am new to this forum as well and it has been heaven sent to me. I have really depended on YT in the last couple of weeks with my Cricket. Unfortunally she is one of those "tinies" that just happened in her litter. Her mom and dad were small but certainly not like her. Anyway I have had an issue with her and everyone has given me hope and encouragement. I don't know if we can pull Cricket through this but I will always be grateful for YT. I have learned so much and know much more than before I found this site. I too learned quickly that "tiny" or "teacup" can cause some discussions but when you have tiny you still have to raise them and give the best you can. After everything I have been through with Cricket I would do it all over again and yes I still love the little ones. I have owned a 4 pounder before and lost him to old age. Cricket may be little but she has the heart and determination of a lion. I took everyone's comments about tiny as information and not necessarily to make me feel bad. Once, again thank you for giving us scared mommies someone to talk to and a place to share our love for them. Judy |
: Thanks for the reminder. It does seem like that's going on a lot any more. Some one will ask a question and someone will come back with some thing rude. or some thing that has nothing to do with what they asked. And I can see that some of the new ones may be afraid to ask a question .......It seems like the get the 3rd degree.and never really get an answer to their question. and that's not right. :thumbdown We are suppose to learn and help each other out. :thumbup |
I know I'm one of the "know nothing and ask lotsa dumb questions bunch". I'd like to just say thanks for being patient with me. If anyone was rude to me personally, I missed it, and I'm glad I did. I'm sure everyone was a first time yorkie owner at one point. It's good to know that some of the older members in here REMEMBER THAT :) P.S Yorkie Talk Rules!! |
I was glad to see this thread to because Im sure Im not the only person who has seen a new peron post and thought "poor thing, she is gonna be SO punced on for that!".Its not fair and I HATE to see this which is why Iv been quite an angry poster up until now. This is supposed to be an educational forum,we arent supposed to point our fingers at someone just because they want to breed etc or because they ask questions that some members seem to think we should ALL know the awnsers too. We arent here to JUDGE anyone, neither are we here to point fingers or give someone the third degree..we are ALL here for the same reasons,we all have yorkies and want to learn. If some one comes on and asks how they should go about breeding, then lets just awnser and leave it at that..if someone wants to not spay or neuter, then thats fine, explain the downside but dont make it look like this persons yorkie is already dying (I have seen this)..etc etc Its all about limiting your self to awnsering the question that has been asked, plain and simple. No one wants to inocently post a question and come back to find she or he is being called an iresponsable fool or see that an argument has started. Im totally against deleting posts and freezing threads,I honestly think it makes peoples blood boil and worsens a situation because after a thread is frozen, sub threads are started, the pm section enters meltdown and the situation gets worse...but threads wouldent have to be frozen or deleted if there was more tolerance, respect and a little sense of humor. Im getting down from my soap box...Iv said what I wanted to say after two years!!! :happyboun :happyboun I feel ALOT better now  |
Good Reminder     |
 Thanks, Kimberly!! I know we do seem unappreciative sometimes but we really, really do love & appreciate those of you who make this forum so wonderful!! ;) |
I also am a member who was attacked about a year ago. I was really hurt by it. I decided to stay, but that's unusual for me,,,,,usually I would have RUN. We weren't all born breeders of yorkies and know it all, so here we are. It's not very hard to just be a kind person. |
   Thank You Mods! :) |

I just want to say that sometimes we DO get overly involved ...and in retrospect... it's pretty silly. So this is a good reminder that some things just need to be left alone....As someone who's spent too much time on this site I guess it's easy to get sucked in to certain games being played... I wasn planning on not posting any more here - but changed my mind....from now on - I'm staying way clear of it....it's just not worth it when there are so many really nice people on here. |
I cheer all you moderators on yorkie talk for all you do to keep this site soemthing we really enjoy. This was something that needed to be said and the mob mentality here was getting to be just too much. I hope people mean what they have posted and will continue to make Yorkie Talk what it really was meant to be. |
Well Said. Thank you so much for saying what has needed to be said for a long time. I have found myself spending less and less time on YT because of these issues, and that has made me very sad and disappointed. Logging on YT used to be one of the funnest parts of my day, I used to get so excited and I used to be so proud of YT and everything that I learned as well as everything that I could share with others. I hope that I can soon feel that way again. Your job as a moderator is very tuff. Thank you for all you do. |
sticky!!!!!!!!!! i am glad someone with authority actually posted what has been on many minds recently. Can we make it a sticky? Thanks for posting this. |
Good reminder! Thank you for posting this. |
Thanks for the great reminder!! You moderators do so much for this forum, and it is very appreciated. You're right, we need to make new members more comfortable here and teach them all we can...After all, if we upset them and make them leave, maybe they won't learn the things they should know about raising a yorkie :) |
Thank you!! All you moderators/Admin are great and wonderful people for doing what you do! You try to make this a good/safe place for people to come with their questions and you are always looking out for all of us on here. Thank you for taking the time out of your lives to do this for us all! A big BRAVO for bringing this up.........I too have received comments that I thought were not very nice and I have read many-a-post that had turned into something it shouldn't. I know it's not just the newbies that get "picked" on, but it seems like we are all in school...where the new kids or the kids with questions get bullied! Let's please stop! I absolutely LOVE YT and can't wait to meet several of the people here....I stay at home and live in the "sticks".....I turn to YT as a glance into the outside world! HA! No, I really am addicted to YT and it is nice to have a place where I can go to ask questions, post replies in hopes to help someone or brighten their day. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you....for putting up with all of us....and for a WONDERFUL place for all of us to go! |
Thank you very much for the post. My mommoa always told me "to do unto others as you would have them do unto you". I know it is from the Bible. I am not here to bible thump you either. But I always remembered that and I hope that I do live my life that way. If I ever hurt anyone's feelings I want them to pm me and tell me about it. I would feel so bad if I did do that. Thank you very much for the reminder. |
YT Thanks I'm very new to YT (only visited the site a handful of times) and do more reading than posting but was absolutely apalled by some of the responses people have gotten in answer to their questions, right down to the I've googled your name. Many people on this site talk about how they hate to see how the world is today...I'm young still (24) but I do know how a little kindness will go a long way. This doesn't just include dogs/animals...it includes humans too!!! I've just recently adopted a yorkie and wanted to learn as much as I could in order to take care of her the best way possible. I have learned more than I knew before but also I'm sad to say I've learned how people who are not professional breeders or long time owners have to defend themselves everytime they come to this site. Those of you with new babies that you may have done little research on and didn't know anything about abusive puppy mills...but still loved this beautiful and inquisitive breed of dog...move on from this point...don't beat yourself up and enjoy your little one. Now you know what is out there and what to look out for! Thank you Kimberly for bringing this to attention! The rest of you...spoil em' rotten! |
1 Attachment(s) Well Said! I am still a newby and love to read more than post and I too have felt "put down" at times. Like I am not in a certain IN CLICK back in highschool (over 20 yrs ago). I love the posters who have some incouraging words because that is what we are here for... to get help and advise. And love some great deals on baby clothes/accessories for our little ones. As I think back to the bad comments I just need to take a breath and remember what my mother and grandmother had to say. If you cant say something nice.... :p Anyway, I love my Yorkie Mutt/"designer dog" and I still Love YorkieTalk! :animal36 |

You too KimberlyAnn...we can use a few more Kimberlys here at YT!! :) |

Thanks for this thread Kimberly. I think this thread was awesome when it was first posted and has made a big difference here in just this short time. I see less negativity and more friendly open-minded responses, less clique-like exclusive behavior, and more inclusive and kind posts. Some of those who thought negativity was okay because they are anonymous behind the computer screen are posting less and hopefully have realized that YT is not the place for that. We don't want those members to leave but to realize that they can be "nice" even when they don't agree with someone else's post. We all deserve respect and civility. I think the members here recognize this and are making a concerted effort to reflect before they post and think of a newbie's reaction to what they are writing. That is a great test to apply before hitting that "submit" button. :) Yorkie Talk is the best and that cannot be denied. All forums have growing pains and as things continue to adjust and new people get accustomed to the rules, there will be the occasional issue but by and large, themembers here are thoughtful, kind and considerate of one another and are united in their love for this wonderful breed. |
I think maybe some of the "frustrated" members have just moved to taking their frustrations out off the forum. I have. I bought a boxing dummy....you'd be surprised how much stress is relieved when you just pound away (cause honestly, who hasn't wanted to do that before?) on something inanimate...good workout too. |
My two cents I'm still fairly new to YT and the whole 'yorkie' world. But since I've joined YT, all I've encountered were some of the nicest people in the world! There's several people on here I've PMed, asking questions. Some questions were valid....other (like worrying about grooming when my pup is only 2.5 weeks old!!) were answered without any judgment or smart comments like 'why are you worried about grooming already u nut!' lol. I'm guessing all the negative people have moved on off of YT. Who knows, maybe they've become Nigerian scammers on puppyfind. :p :p :yorkietal |

This is an awesome thread. |
I know I stopped posting here for a very long time, because it was not fun. I liked many people here and did not want to leave, but there were too many ugly and rude post. I think I will try again and see how things go. |

What a great thread. And many thanks to the moderators. You certainly have your work cut out for you on some days. I think everyone needs to step back sometimes and think what it was like when they first came here. I still learn something new everytime I come to Yorkie Talk. |
